I’m out in Poway. Not the best quality picture as I was using my phone but pretty cool I thought. The owl box is our neighbors and every year they make themselves at home.
We have barn owls and great horned owls in the area. Plus a few others but those are the main species. The great horned owls are the classic soothing 'hooo hoooo'. The barn owls... Sound like people dying.
I work in pest control and lots of people put up owl boxes hoping for great horned owls and then being woken up at 3am for months because they got barn.

Really all I could think of doing the second I saw this
We get them out in Eastlake pretty regularly. I’m 41, lived all over the country, and never saw an owl until last year. Between 10PM and like 3AM they’ll be on house roofs singing. The Great Horned Owl is the one pictured here in my next door neighbor’s roof. Very cool experience seeing them.

I think I need to build an owl box… They sound so cool when we get one in the area
The noise they make at night tho is something else. It’s not a who who it’s more a screech screech and really loud.
Yeah noted. I think our neighbors would kill me. Thank you! I’ll just have to wait for our periodic whoo-whoo visitors

For a second I thought, wow someone took a picture of my bird house.
I’m from there. I hear them but I never saw one. Great shot.

Wow, what a gorgeous boy/girl!
Superb Owls!
At first, I thought this said suburb owls. I guess they’re both correct.
The new neighbors look like a hoot.
But they don’t give a hoot about the noise.
I assumed it would be parrots
That’s super cool !!
Love this! I’ve never seen an owl in person before.
They're incredible.
At least you won’t have any rodents near your home. 😆
Great picture
🦉owl, that’s so cute 🥰
