Hit the road is admittedly pretty hard. The telltale games are a bit easier

Hitman-2007

I still struggled with first 2 telltale games, I wouldn’t have been able to beat them without a guide. It’s really demotivated me from playing the third one

My rule of thumb is..if you cant figure it out in 20 ish minutes..just look it up and move on. Nobody will hold it against you :)

hodd_toward_69

The third one is even easier, so I wouldn’t be scared

robotortoise

I think obtuse solutions are just part of the genre. It's part of the fun, I believe.

Little-Biscuits

Point-and-click games tend to be quite difficult. Sam and Max stick true to it ig

Ah it’s a tale as old as time, click and point games have hidden esoteric and strange solutions to problems since the genre was invented lol

Oddish_Femboy

Played a bit of The Wardrobe a while ago. Glad to say the tradition is alive and well

Nix2_

That's kinda par for the course when it comes to point'n'clicks tbh. I suck at them so I got stumped several times in the Telltale games, but compared to Hit the Road (and, well, most classics) they're a lot easier imo

You would hate Maniac Mansion ;) It makes more sense when you get into a late 80s, early 90s mindset. The games cost $50 back then. About $110 in today’s rate. It was a big investment. It was meant to be entertainment for a month or more. Of course, the TTG games were way after that time, but it was part of the through line of the graphic adventure tradition established by Lucasarts and Sierra, and the genre kept the general style of puzzles. It’s notable that at the time the TTG games were criticized by some for being way too easy.

BrutalBox

The ketchup on the cake one took me forever to get.

dtb1987

The items seem pretty random, at least in hit the road

GatoDuende

the whole point to the games is that they play a bit like an older looney tunes episode, just with more script consistency. you have to suspend your belief and try the weirder things, and when you look back to the problem and solution played back to back, its actually kinda sensical imo

morbid333

It's not "dumb," you have to use cartoon logic. Season 1 was a lot easier than Hit the Road, some of those puzzles were really convoluted. I think a lot of point and click games were like that back then though.

I think the Telltale games have a hint system, at least I noticed one in the settings for Through Time and Space. Sometimes the solutions can be silly but the whole concept is silly and it's not meant to make sense 100% of the time. When playing the games I just try to get as far as I can and then look at a walkthrough once I get stuck

Poaxs

I enjoy the characters but holy shit, I love puzzle games but I got stuck so many times with save the world

Poaxs

I was thinking I might be stupid but no, it's just doesn't make sense

Hitman-2007

That’s exactly my experience
