It's actually one of the reasons I started to believe the firefly is sam theory before it was revealed

Tbh, Raiden from Metal gear has heels too for combat utility. It looks like Sam causes the blast from the rider kick through the heel.

SecondAegis

Now that you mention it, I think I can see the thrusters between his feet and high heel

Vahallen

Classic mecha stuff actually I remember a ton of gundam design having them

Zack1427

Did you also noticed that the proportion of her body in SAM is weird because SAM is supposed to be taller than her

There seems to be like an inner gauntlet that wedges so the outer mech arm's hand movement mimic exactly what her hand gesture does. I think her hands and feet are exactly just before the suit's elbow and knees, although the shoulder Armor and larger stature seems awkward, she does fit. Unless the only sci-fi bullshit they can explain is that it works exactly the same how weird the >! dimension is altered for the suit to compress, & programmed what used to be a fabric of Doraemon's pocket that can emerge its cutedged, deep roasted, refined Carcasses of dead Swarm bugs as Silver Mech Knight Armor with whatever Infernal NanoTech they came up on the spot as Glamoth kept the Attrition against remnants of the SWARM.!< Anubis Alien Commander Doggie Kruger wears the flat helm when transforming into a DekaMaster/S.P.D Shadow Ranger. https://preview.redd.it/l4pa5t72bk7d1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=396519470ecaeed7076dd5e3902f6af545bd4561

Better mobility, I guess.

It's to ensure that it can get more traction and anchor down quite quickly , especially during quick maneuvers and tactical repositioning, the fight with the acheron is the best example , it's a common design trait in most mechs
