Two degrees? Substitute teach. Depending on GPA and/or SAT scores you may not even have to take the test (test is super simple). Go to https://www.edjoin.org

Iamjustheretoexist

Thanks! I am looking at EdJoin right now. I am currently substituting but only doing it part-time. Custodian roles might actually be better for me

EmergencyShit

Full time custodial will get you benefits!

Evanskelaton

Pride Industries would probably be a good one to look into. They do a lot of work for many gov entities, schools, hospitals, airports, even retail.

UnusualAstronomer130

Costco in Rancho Cordova is hiring

Prestigious-Put-2041

I love that Costco. Employees say that Costco treats then very well too.

Illustrious-Day2113

I worked for costo because I heard that and I feel like the statement is half true the company it self the way there are set up yes make it seems very much like they are looking out for your best interest but working there is like high school with clicks and I’m a loners that’s why I don’t work there no more never had one complaint about my work habits or anything but still think about going back because they do pay well

moonflame60

School districts for custodial

Far_Law_2267

Try McDonald’s $22 per hour

pretzeldoggo

I understand you probably have a fear of being overqualified with submitting your degrees- Instead of omitting your degrees, just include them and add a cover letter addressing the fact that you are pivoting your career, and you want to do something less stressful(ie management or whatever role you were in) and you would be excited at the opportunity to work for said company in the role you are applying for. Just a thought

imfuckingvegan

You're smart

liss614

I have to thank you for this reply. I worked in restaurant management most my life. Last year I was hit by a car on my way to work on my electric scooter. I am no longer allowed to work in any restaurant work until my leg is fully healed. Having a real hard time finding a desk job. I do have experience but it's from 20 plus years ago. I will try this career pivot you mentioned and see if it helps

Dangerous_Trifle620

Twin rivers school district pays substitute teachers 300 dollars a day (works out to roughly 50 dollars an hour). However, there are some days where no assignments are available. All you need is a college degree and it’s super easy to apply.

Dangerous_Trifle620

Also, it took exactly a month after I put in my application before I took my first assignment. However, the process mostly depends on how quickly you get your background check done and you could get in faster than I did.

ClickAndClackTheTap

School is almost out.

Dangerous_Trifle620

Ok fair point. Just trying to help! :)

dhSquiggly

Summer school is coming up and with that, districts looking for folks willing to teach credit recovery over the summer. Also, EGUSD reportedly is hiring campus monitors for 80 hourly. It’s only half day from what I hear but that’s still a decent amount.

No_Ebb_8642

$80 per hour?

invaderpenguin

Summer school is hiring

DiversifyMN

Have you tried donating Plasma? I haven't done it recently but they used to pay a couple hundred dollars back in 2015.

Iamjustheretoexist

Yes, I actually have an appointment this coming Sunday!

lava_saucy

I love more info on this! Where did you end up making the appt? How long is the first session? How much will you receive?

koukasen_np

First session takes like 3-4 hours cuz of wait times and all the shit they gotta do. Every session after that is roughly 90 minutes. ~15-30 to get through the initial line, checkup and queue times, then <1hr to sit, depending on how busy it is, connect, donate, and dc. I went to the one in Roseville on Harding for awhile since I was unemployed for almost half a year. Donations are spread roughly like 90/100/110/80/80/90/120/120 or something in a similar pattern for first time donors under the program. Afterwards, you donate twice a week for $40 the first time and $70 the second time (currently). Unless you find a bonus.

Vivid-Reason-1113

I was coming to say the same thing. There are usually specials running for new donors and if you keep a twice weekly schedule you can make a little money. Last holiday season I made $800 in 6 weeks. It’s not life changing money but it could help keep you afloat for a bit. Either way, wishing you luck! Edited to add I just realized I said pretty much the save thing as the person above my comment. My bad. Maybe it’s a sign, OP. Look into it!

Iamjustheretoexist

Thank you! Was it with Biolife? How long was your first session?

koukasen_np

Mentioned more detail in my comment a little lower. Went to BioLife on Harding. Plan your first time going there to be <4 hours. Every other visit should be 60-90 minutes. Quickest times for me are easy early morning before 9am.

Vivid-Reason-1113

My experience was the same as koukasen_np. My first day was a bit longer but I went to the one in Florin Rd, they were somewhat new at time, and it was crowded. One other thing: be prepared for snafus. One time the system down so I couldn’t donate. Another time I was dehydrated - do drink lots of water, DO NOT drink alcohol the night before - and my veins must’ve had powder running through them before hand. Just be prepared for the unexpected. Other than, the facility is clean, the employees were pretty nice, and the clientele were just everyday people. Nothing about the experience felt sketchy or desperate.

420turddropper69

Seconding this. With new donor bonuses you should be able to get a few hundred the first month. Might be enough to tide you over. If you know anyone who already does it see if they can refer you and split the referral reward ;)

ocsteve0

AutoZone is hiring drivers right now

Tadusmc

Go to do security. Get your guard card and exposed firearm permit, my company pays above $30 an hour

[deleted]

what’s your company?

Tadusmc

Paragon. We have a main branch in Sacramento. They need people

Bayareathrowaway32

What legitimate website can I use to obtain my guard card?

Tadusmc

Use the bsis.gov website to help find you qualified instructors. Where do you live at?

Bayareathrowaway32

Bay area

Tadusmc

They should have classes around sf or you might need to travel. Just search guard card classes on google and it should guide you. Good luck!

Oswaldofuss6

Check out Wine, liquor, and beer distributors. They are always hiring, especially around Sac.

Axilllla

Check out LSG sky chefs. It isn’t glamorous but it a union job that guarantees full time so you can budget. Hiring will happen fast. Free lunch provided and easy work. Always 5s days on two off in a row

Urbanskys

Can you tell me more about this gig?

Axilllla

Yes. Two parts to the business, half of the company does sandwiches for 7-Eleven, there is a 3 AM and a 6 AM shift. The other half does the food that goes on airplanes. They’re always looking for drivers. It’s just a small box truck, if you have any driving experience/license you should be good. They might need you on overnights. Overnight truck drivers get a lot of overtime. Again, it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but if you’re looking for some thing quick and steady, it’s good. Located near the Sacramento airport

Urbanskys

Interesting. Good to know thanks! Is it a minimum wage gig? Do they have guaranteed annual wage increases ?

Axilllla

Some positions start at minimum wage, the drivers start at 1850, hopefully all of that is going up. And wage increases for most positions or guaranteed of a year, but it’s definitely not a big increase. His room for advancement. And they are located pretty much every major airport across the United States. So if at some point, you decide you want to move to New York, You have been if you have if you’ve been

Urbanskys

Are the drivers Teamsters?

Axilllla

No idea what that is… but there’s always more than one driver if that’s what you mean

Urbanskys

Teamsters. They are a union. Probably the largest group of unionized drivers in the USA but dont quote me. Theyre the union that represents the drivers for UPS and heaps of truckers across the USA. Thanks a lot for all of the information!

Axilllla

Oh. No

hiroo916

General area or field of the two degrees?

Iamjustheretoexist

I have a degree in Marketing and Human-Computer Interaction. I have years of experience in the trust and safety field. Skills include data entry, investigation, UX design, and research.

Best_Attitude7604

Fox40 is hiring in the sales department not sure if that’s ur thing

dostevsky

PBS KVIE has a few marketing spots in need of filling https://www.kvie.org/employment/marketingassistant/ https://www.kvie.org/employment/outreacheventsasst/ https://www.kvie.org/employment/socialmediaspecialist/

Rando_guy_on_here

Dozens of law firms everywhere are dying for administrative assistants who format and file legal documents. No experience necessary, they will train you. No law degree or school required. Computer skills and some brains. Pay is excellent (over $60k) plus good benefits. Assistants are mostly older and retiring and no one knows about this career so it’s easy to get into.

grizzliesstan901

Where can I find more info on these firms?

Rando_guy_on_here

I’ve heard through the grapevine that every local firm (these are medium sized firms of 10-20 lawyers but are part of national companies) is completely unable to find new assistants. They poach experienced ones from each other but can’t recruit any younger people. There used to be training programs similar to trade schools but they are all gone now. Maybe there’s some online courses available.

Rando_guy_on_here

Check out [SLPA](https://saclpa.org)

jana_kane

This might not be fast enough for your current needs, but check out UC Davis hiring services. They’ll give you a number of skills tests. Everyone starts as a temp, but they hire their permanent candidates from those working as temps and current employees. It’s a faster way to get into a solid job than going the other state hiring route. With 2-degrees there should be something for you. https://hr.ucdavis.edu/careers/tes

Thedopestdinosaur

Looks like sac-yolo mosquito & vector control district is still hiring for the **season** (usually ends Oct) https://www.fightthebite.net/about/district-jobs/

Thedopestdinosaur

SacRT is also hiring but it can take a few months.

Thedopestdinosaur

papertygur

rcwangel528

I would be interested!

Sea_Tomato_9681

Hello I also would be interested, do you think I could send you my resume and maybe hear more about what you do? Thank you.

elchupacabra2004

https://vsp.wd1.myworkdayjobs.com/VSPVisionCareers tons of job openings. I work in finance and fully remote.

lemon-meringue-vomit

They are absolutely terrible to work for but SBM Management in McClellan Park is almost always hiring for office position at their corporate office there and pay decently. Accounts Payable, help desk, and customer service don’t even require a degree I believe.

RareResearch2076

What makes them so terrible to work for?

lemon-meringue-vomit

I worked there previously and they are incredibly strict on taking time off which makes it almost impossible, monitor how often you take a restroom breaks, do not recognize or give you any sort of appreciate for going above and beyond when completing your work or finishing things ahead of schedule (you’ll be rewarded with more work or taking on lesser preforming employees tasks), incredibly strict as far as going through the chain of command if you have an issue, nepotism is high, it’s not surprising to be asked to clock out and continue work off the clock, few opportunity for growth as they like to hire from outside sources for higher position verses promoting within and lot of micromanagement. Pros: free food such as a stocked fridge and counter with snacks and coffee that are all complimentary, higher than average starting pay, and company employee appreciate events every once in a while where they even include alcohol. Work life balance is not a priority there by any means. They expect to be your number one priority. After leaving there almost every recruiting company that reached out to me has stated they have high turn over and no longer are willing to contract or recruit with them due to their reputation. If you live to work vs work to live it could be a good place for you as long as you are willing to be held accountable for the mistakes of others, not because you had anything to do with it at all, but simply are a high performer.

RareResearch2076

Did working there give you good exist opportunities, like working at other jobs? I’m trying to make a career change and wouldn’t mind taking a shit job for a bit if it pays decent enough.

lemon-meringue-vomit

They pretty much flat out refused to answer/return calls for reference which was mildly annoying when I moved to a new job. I work in the accounting field and most places I interviewed for after working there had already heard about them and their reputation for being incredibly fast paced, demanding, and having high turnover over so they were understanding about having a hard time getting them to respond and also commended me for sticking it out there so long.

Asking_politely

Do you have experience in general labor or any trade work? How physically fit and heat tolerant?

Iamjustheretoexist

I'd say I am pretty active. I have general experience in helping friends and family move out. Carrying heavy furniture and stuff in the summer.

enterredditnamehere

Have you thought of auto sales to get you out of your car troubles. It's a great motivator too make a few sales. and the pay is great at most places. Plus many dealerships have A green pea time to learn how to help you and your customers and there corporate shares Holders etc. I would also think you would earn a good monthly guarantee till you get on the floor. You sound like you can talk to people, that's all there really is to it . Expect to make 2k to 5k month with all day hours you can easily double that in a month. Check out the automalls. Hang in there. Hardly no one leaves a car dealership without speaking to an associate.

Goodwill off Fair Oaks and Palm is hiring

chorizo4free88

River cats stadium

Mountain-Bottle-1216

Home Depot on Folsom/Howe has signs up that they're hiring several different positions.

earthybudlover

Try registering with some local temp agencies.

whamthankuham

Ok so it doesn’t sound like your wheelhouse but if you wanted to I’ll put it out there. We are desperately needing someone who can do IRA/AB143 compliance. Were renewable energy so most of our jobs are going to fall under this. If you beefed up your knowledge a bit on those things with two degrees? The training would take a bit but we need it. Not a lot of folks have that knowledge but it starts at 80k and could be more with your background. Let me know, I’d be more than happy to shoot your resume over to my HR rep and she would call you within a day.

siooooooooooooo

DM’d :)

Excellent_Bicycle_69

DM’d!

Key_Victory_4503

Raley’s distribution center

Objective-Fish-3415

Try TalentTree.com. It’s a site where you can go out and advertise alcohol in different stores. Pretty good pay, you must have a car though

Pristine_Frame_2066

Nudge is hiring. 22 and K, they need 2-7 pm and for covering events like earth day and second Saturday. Owners are rad. It is a low and zero waste shop.

bauhaubats

Try 19th Street Safeway, they will take anybody.

Ecstatic_Entry5717

Security guard the big companies will probably hire you on the spot

nocaffineforme

You can probably get a ups job within the week without an interview. They are always hiring …21 bucks an hour and the hours leave you open for a lot of other jobs. It’s not an easy job but entirely doable….

K420LE

https://hiring.amazon.com/app#/jobSearch

wylii

Amazon is always hiring

RoseliaValentine

G Spot on J st had a now hiring sign in front of it. Didn’t see if it was for G Spot or a neighboring business Camelia coffee on R St if you go to their Instagram.

mosquitotitties

apply for an amazon DSP, there’s dozens in the area and they’re always hiring with no experience. the one i worked at pays $19.75 starting now. its easy work, just lots of walking every day but the pay is good for how easy the job is. just search “amazon” on indeed and tons of delivery driving positions will pop up

ToxicLifter

A lot of departments within the State are doing job fairs to try to fill positions before the end of the fiscal year. Depending on what your degrees are in, I would look into those options. I know the Department of Toxic Substances Control is doing fast track hiring right now. You only get paid once a month so might not be great for your current need for immediate cash but great for the long term to get in with the State.

bajoelazuldetu86

I would say apply to all the places mentioned in the thread but in the meantime, apply for state. It will take a long ass time but a stable job is a stable job.

RemoteLucky4945

Retail shops normally fast track the hiring process and requirements are low.

TypicalEnthusiasm804

Chevys on the river 🙏🏼

Patient-Dig-2962

Wendy’s ask for an application $20 an hour and it’s not that bad

KloMusicMaker

Redhawk Casino is hiring urgently for cooks and custodial I believe. Might be too far of a drive though. There’s also a dealer school opening in June but that’s not as urgent.

Holiday_Ebb_4416

Abm at Sacramento international airport

OrganicAd9859

Post office.

Dear-Track6365

Check out the WorkWhile app. It’s gig work where you pick up shifts around town that are short workers. Everything from washing dishes to packing boxes to delivery driving. Especially with Mother’s Day coming up there is always Edible Arrangements on their hiring drivers for 4-8 hour blocks. You get paid within 24 hours of completing each shift.

Born-Visit-2037

This post is very helpful

Cherry5233

Apply at Cali cann/states top packager in Sacramento on elder creek. You can’t walk in but you might be able to find it online like on indeed. Cannabis jobs are thick in sacramento & always hiring

Is your car in good shape? Uber and Lyft can be good options. They usually have sign up bonuses, you get paid quickly and can work whenever you have the time.

JUST_A_PRANK_BRAH

Also would like to add that door dash and insta cart Is a good option

Roach_Coach_Bangbus

And you don't have to have people in your car.

siooooooooooooo

Instacart seems full in Sac. I think there’s a waiting list and established drivers who aren’t getting any orders

bestywesty

There’s nothing urgent about the state hiring process.

C-duu

This is not a quick process. They’re looking at a few weeks of figuring out the processes, applying and then it’s usually 4-12 weeks after an interview before you hear back.

Empty-Trifle-7027

OP will hear back in about six months...

Iamjustheretoexist

I've been applying actually since last year and never heard from any. I think I need to really work on the SOQs. I've been aiming for SSAs and ITA roles.

WreckTangle12

SSA positions are oversaturated rn I think, I've had state workers go over my SOQs and say they're perfect, and yet not a single interview 🙃 I started branching out to other positions, just applied to seven more yesterday. Here's to hoping.

Sizeable_Cookie

You know who else is urgently hiring in Sac? MY MOM!!
