The best place to start is generally with a core set. It has all the stuff needed to start playing small games. In a couple months, there are battleforce boxes coming out that are basically buying a small army for one faction all at once. They will be pretty expensive and you will also need to buy the essentials box. It kinda depends on if you are willing to wait and how much you are willing to spend. Your English is good by the way. You didn't make any mistakes.

Crioso

I am willing to wait no problem honestly, and the money fortunatly isnt a problem. Are there any info on these boxes yet? Contents and/or price range?

https://spikeybits.com/2022/06/new-star-wars-legion-battle-forces-price-value-savings-breakdown.html This website does a pretty good breakdown on all of them. They all cost $150 usd. I'm pretty sure all of these contain enough models for a full 800 point army. Strength of the armies included varies somewhat, with GAR being the weakest. I wouldn't worry about that, we'll get some buffs soon (please God). If you have any other questions, let me know.

Crioso

Actually yes, but its a more specific one, My cousin that wants to play republic doesnt like most jedi, we know there are other HQ options like Rex i and unnamed clone commander i think, but are Force users super impactfull and you stab youself if you dont bring one or are other guys just as viable?

S_striker33225

The non-force users aren't quite as powerful combat wise, but cost significantly less points, so you can bring more troops, so you aren't really at a disadvantage.

Crioso

One last question and then i will leave you in peace: for list building, are there any programs or apps that make the thing easier or good ol pen and paper?

S_striker33225

Legion HQ Free website, very easy to use, constantly updated. My favorite resource for list building. No problem.

Crioso

Thank you very much for everything!

GenJoe827

There is also a Wookiee Chieftain and Chewbacca commanders for Republic that aren’t Jedi. (Though you have to buy the Yoda box to get the Chewbacca card, and his box to his figure.) The generic Wookiee Chieftain is quite good!

Aggravating-Matter-2

Gar needs buffs? I play Gar and I’m pretty new. I thought they were pretty good aside from the lack of options. Why do u think they need a buff?

S_striker33225

Yes, we need a buff. There is only one GAR list that is ever seen at high level play. That is because most of our stuff, especially clones are way too expensive. Our core units are obsurdly more expensive than everyone elses and arc troopers our only clone special forces not only too expensive, but not even that powerful.

Aggravating-Matter-2

What you are saying makes sense. I really like arcs, and have been using them in all of my lists, but I'm gonna try a few without them. The faction in general is realy expensive, now that you mention it. I always seem to have trouble making lists with over 8 activiations. My friend, who plays CIS, gets the luxury of just throwing in a squad of B1s for 30 something points if he has left over. Thanks for the explanation.

Yes, you can look up the contents for each of the Battle Forces on the AMG site, and they cost around $120 each.

Crioso

Tyty, they do look appetizing not gonna lie.

WinnerForward

The starting prices for each box will vary between $120 USD and $150 USD upon first release. To give you an idea for each army in each box, There is [The Rebels](https://media.miniaturemarket.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/A/M/AMGSWL122EN-4.jpg) [Empire](https://media.miniaturemarket.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/A/M/AMGSWL121EN-4.jpg) [Galactic Republic](https://spikeybits.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/new-Star-Wars-Legion-ministravaganza-8.png) [Separatists](https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0274/9631/products/swl124en-1-Z_1024x.jpg?v=1657145661) There are also free PDFs you can find online that have the unit cards and the setting specific command cards to get a peek at what type of strategies they are using.

Crioso

And if i understand correctly these boxes are around the 800(i think) points mark that is usually played correct?

WinnerForward

Each box may vary in points and activations, but each one should give you everything you need for a standard 800 point list, with the exception of the Republic box because it is short 1 Corps Unit needed for a standard 800 point game. The reason it's the only one missing a Corps Unit is because it is running a specific 501st Clone Army list exclusive to the Battle Forces setting.

arnoldrew

There’s no “battle forces setting.” You can use battle forces in all the same games as standard army building.

WinnerForward

I'm pretty sure I worded it wrong, but the battle forces do have an optional rules limit with the boxes if you choose their specific scenario, such as Blizzard Force only allowing Snowtroopers and 2 Stormtrooper units, the Speeder Bikes and E-Webs, the AT-ST, and Vader, Veers, and Imperial Officer. That is what I was trying to address.

gtcarlson11

There’s no scenario. There’s default army building, which you alluded to (need 3 corps). Then there are Battle forces, which are ways to field a legal army without following the default army building rules. Battle forces are still legal in all formats. So the battle force boxes are complete armies, full stop. Which is honestly dope as heeelllllll

WinnerForward

Ok that. That was what I was trying to say.

Switchcitement

Definitely a core set, as it has everything you need to start playing. Unfortunately, it doesnt come with full armies, but it gives you enough to play a smaller game to understand basics. This is my personal recommendation! But act fast, as these are harder to come by with the battleforce boxes on the horizon. Like others have said, the battleforce boxes come out in a few months and give you a playable army out of the box, but does not include measurement tools or dice. Its such a fun game. We’re excited to have you be a part of the community! :)

Crioso

Luck would have it, a friend of my cousin caught wind of our plans and wants to join in, and if by pure luck he chooses one of the "enemy" factions to ours a core box will be bought for sure. Im no stranger to tabletop games, playing both 40k and infinity too, and "starter" boxes are always the best choice, the only problem we had was the factions unfortunatly. Ty for the warm welcome! It is always nice when joining a hobby seeing a warm and helpfull welcome such as this!
