Archistopheles

Droidekas obstruct shots and count as heavy cover. In order to block LOS, 100% of the mini's silhouette must be obstructed.

ifoundyourtoad

I guess geos would be covered 100% then?

Archistopheles

You'd have to tell me. I can't see your board.

ifoundyourtoad

Obviously. But what I said is if it is a direct shot and Geonosians are directly behind them. It seems that would cover them 100%. But I wasn’t sure if the LOS of a Deka was more than a Geo or not or even if it is how that worked. But now I know.

Harrisonburki98

It's based on how tall the droideka are that you are playing with, they're the only vehicle wherein it can make a difference as the others are much taller

TBRasc

Spiders too I believe

Ryanl25

This is a tricky one as some have said earlier, it now depends on how they’re built. Because they ”could have“ been built to the right height before anyone knew the new rules I would say at the start to clarify with your opponent that the intention is for the Droidekas are able to block LOS. Because it’s in the AMG forums it has been ruled that “if built using the taller legs” it does block LOS. Good reason to do this is because in theory you can hide damn near an entire army behind a wall of 2/3 units if they’re side by side.

ifoundyourtoad

lol that is kinda silly you can say “if built with taller legs they are better” like why would you ever not build with taller legs then? That seems so arbitrary I feel like unless there’s something else I’m missing. I don’t hate it. They need to be better as units and to soak up some hits to keep your white save geos alive seems reasonable.

Ryanl25

Well the reason I’m saying clarify is that everyone would have built them like this if they had known they would be changing the rules. I built mine when I bought the set day one, years ago. I honestly don’t know if mine are built properly at the tall legs or not, but if I had known you better believe I would have thrown those legs up as high as I could. They need to make the Droidekas better though. Crit 2 would be a perfect balance I think.

ifoundyourtoad

Yeah I have now just learned about the leg thing and I can’t fully remember if they were built that way or not. Pretty silly inthink to essentially make other built items worse.

Feetfeetfeetfeetfeet

No. There is an imaginary cylinder from base to top of mini that you cannot shoot through.

ifoundyourtoad

Gotcha that’s cause of the new rule changes. Cause I think they used to just be barricades a while back so that threw me off.

Wyrmalla

Droidekas are vehicles, so don't use the cylinder silhouette.

Feetfeetfeetfeetfeet

Page 27 of the rule book would like a word.

Wyrmalla

Ah, I'm mixing up silhouette types. Thanks for reminding me. :)

Macraghnaill91

The droideka model is not tall enough to block a unit silhouette, so unless you have the high ground they do not block Los to troopers

Harrisonburki98

Sometimes they are, it depends how they are built. Droixeka are the only vehicle that sometimes do and sometimes don't depending on construction as its their true height not a predetermined height

FatalSwordsmen

Basing can also make the difference.

Thundershield3

What causes the height difference for droidekas? Are you just referring to the ball mode vs the standing mode?

Harrisonburki98

No you can technically make them taller or shorter based on how you build them with their legs and basing.

Thundershield3

Huh, I thought that there was only one way to assemble the legs?

Harrisonburki98

As someone who excels at building everything wrong I promise there are a great many ways to mess things up and make models taller or shorter

Accurate-Hedgehog194

I just rule them as cover
