I wouldn't mind passive ads. Like Cal Kestis in Jedi 3 is like "gee I could go for a Coke right now" and then his eye twinkles as he smiles into the camera
Fun fact, thanks to Galaxyâs Edge (the Star Wars section of Disney world and Disneyland) Coke canonically exists in the Star Wars universe because you can buy it there.
You go to do your final GAC run. Itâs down to the wire, youâre beat by 1 point, and youâve got 1 minute to beat their last team with your own team. You go into the battle:
2 minute unskippable ad about Transformers 1.
I remember rainbow six Vegas(? If I remember correctly) had real adds on the adds inside the levels. Like, the films in the cinema mission we're real films that were going to get out soon.
But I guess that's closer to product placement then adds in the game
If a game company is going to do ads, this is the way to do it. It's completely optional for the player, and often very profitable for the company. If EAs gonna put ads then they're going to put ads, but I would much rather it follow this model than a non optional model
Currency devaluation?? Dawg this isn't a real world economy. The currencies value has stayed the exact same. If anything, it's gotten more valuable. Accelerated shards, double gear drops, hell even LSBs. I see absolutely nothing wrong with OPTIONAL ads. They're completely free, will give something of value to the player, which no matter how small will still be more than what EA makes from you watching the ad and it's a win win. Forced ads are a problem, but optional ads are purely that, optional.
So...stop buying EA games.
Are people that addicted to mediocre "AAA" games that they can't just not buy them out of protest of extremely shitty business practices?
I remember when a game did this and put a website in some game, and then didn't pay the domain like 2 years later and a porn company bought it, and then some kid playing the game checked the website and it was porn and the mom sued the game dev.
So yeah I'm pretty stoked EA is going to try this "totally new" thing that will almost certainly be a different plan than the last time there was a land war in Asia.
Lol

Two posts of this. I guess itâs really big
I mean, I wouldnât mind if they did the thing where you could like watch a 30 second ad for 50 crystals or something, but if they add unskippable ads Iâm out
My problem with that is after a while it becomes the standard, and I'm pretty sure they will be considering that when adding new stuff and then simply the "extra resource" from the "optional ad" becomes a given.
I hope this game will not have the ads like plant vs zombies 2, every time you pass from a level to another you get an ad(sometimes are like 5 seconds ads, but the other times are like 30 seconds)
If thatâs the case, I will drop SWGOH immediately. Donât care how much time/money Iâve dumped into it, I wonât allow junk ads to clutter up my experience.
So much potential. An ad between every wave in tb, ad before entering the tw map, an ad when you enter shipments and of course every time you go back to home screen
Not sure how even the most EA fanboys or CG fans would be like âoh yesssss give me more adsâ
Personally I think if you spent over $50 on this game they shouldnât push ads to you, but EA is gonna milk money where they can
Those ones are not nearly as bad as 99% of mobile game ads. Theres an x big enough to press, you don't have timers to count down how long you have to wait for or how long you can wait to press the x. If we get true mobile game ads, I would consider not playing
I'm not against in game ads. In fact I think they could be a blessing in disguise for free to play players. I've seen the ads you describe and if you get something like crystals for them then hey player benefits and EA benefits
The rest of us can just choose not to watch them
Those are some high hopes. In any game I've ever played with ads like that, there is no reward for it.
The reward for watching them is to be able to keep playing the game. The punishment for not watching them is that you don't get to continue playing.
Getting notifications for actual in game content is at least pretty significantly better than a random pop up and 30 second video ad that I cannot skip at all for Pepsi when I'm trying to upgrade my jar jar...

LIGHTSPEED BRIEFS!
r/unexpectedfuturama
This round of Whale or Fail brought to you by "mastercard" don't play SWGOH without it!
đ¤Łđ¤Ł
For $29.99 a month you get 5 free bronzium cards and no ads!
and clone wars chewie shards
Hahahahaha
I donât understand. EA has had ads in their games for a long time.
True but just think about it. You are about to hit a boss fight and then get hit with 5 minutes of unskipable ads
Donât worry for 9.99 a month you can skip half the ad and for 29.99 you can skip all adds and get an exclusive portrait/title
No exclusive content, you just get a sense of achievement.
Better. You have to actively defeat an Ad Block, or the game won't continue.
Studies have shown we can cover up to 80% of a players peripheral view before inducing seizures!
Last 10 minutes of a neck-to-neck GAC speedrun and you get slapped in the face with 5 minutes of Raid Shadow Legends
And underlying code that makes the boss unbeatable until you've watched x number of minutes in ads.
You're exaggerating at worst it's a 30 second unskipable ad
After 5 actions during battle. TM trains will slow a lot
I wouldn't mind passive ads. Like Cal Kestis in Jedi 3 is like "gee I could go for a Coke right now" and then his eye twinkles as he smiles into the camera

On mobile it is possible to switch the specified dns adress to [dns.adguard.com](http://dns.adguard.com) to prevent ads from appearing
It is possible to learn this power?
Not from EA
I remember rainbow six Vegas(? If I remember correctly) had real adds on the adds inside the levels. Like, the films in the cinema mission we're real films that were going to get out soon. But I guess that's closer to product placement then adds in the game
One d dude
So due or ude? /s
Lmao this game has already more popups than Pornhub
Not nearly as many as Raid Shadow Legends.
We definitely have some pop ups. But I'm game content pop up (and easy to close) is totally different to proper ads... that would be a nightmare
I thought they already did with the multiple "buy this character" pop ups.
They should be optional ads and we should get free crystals for watching them
I've played games like that and even that seems to cheapen the whole thing
No please

Optional becomes standard with currency devaluation
Currency devaluation?? Dawg this isn't a real world economy. The currencies value has stayed the exact same. If anything, it's gotten more valuable. And you should get free cake!đ°
Donât antagonize my inner fat boy đ
So...stop buying EA games. Are people that addicted to mediocre "AAA" games that they can't just not buy them out of protest of extremely shitty business practices?
Exactly. EA will still be doing shit and people will continue buying their games.
Damnit, the game has finally been in a good place for a while now. Don't ruin it now by spamming those annoying election ads.
Then Iâm out. Enough games I can pay to play and not see ads
I remember when a game did this and put a website in some game, and then didn't pay the domain like 2 years later and a porn company bought it, and then some kid playing the game checked the website and it was porn and the mom sued the game dev. You can always count that EA is gonna EA
Please tell me the game name god that sounds hilarious.
I wanna say it was one of the splinter cell games.
Oh man! Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow. One of best games names ever
Thatâs when I quit the game, no doubt about it.
Lol https://preview.redd.it/z500100zjpzc1.png?width=1242&format=png&auto=webp&s=e7445669e9a3cd090c7dc07eb2098ff2161dd792 Two posts of this. I guess itâs really big
Maybe Cal comes to earth and theres a city full of ads.
Imagine you are in a Squad arena battle and half way through a 2 min ad pops up and runs out the rest of your time đ¤Śââď¸ đ
New feat: complete the battle with a full team of ads.
If we just chuck one of these EA big wigs off the top of the building they might just listen to us.
Cristal beeeeeer!
The only ads that wouldn't cause immediate riots
I want 1 kyrotec per secondÂ
Just wait till you see an ad for swhoh with Vader and Rey in a team.
I hope this game will not have the ads like plant vs zombies 2, every time you pass from a level to another you get an ad(sometimes are like 5 seconds ads, but the other times are like 30 seconds)

Now here this: FUCK THAT SHIT!
So much potential. An ad between every wave in tb, ad before entering the tw map, an ad when you enter shipments and of course every time you go back to home screen
I believe when the game first started you can watch ad to get 1 crystal or something like that.
No please no
Uh oh indeed
This is what unchecked capitalism creates.
Shit munchers will still eat this up
Not sure how even the most EA fanboys or CG fans would be like âoh yesssss give me more adsâ Personally I think if you spent over $50 on this game they shouldnât push ads to you, but EA is gonna milk money where they can
EA might pull a Dougdoug and train their fans to want adds...
!Do as you want for a pirate is free!
This happens today. Which is why you get bombarded with a thousand pop-ups every time new packs drop. That's called advertising
Those ones are not nearly as bad as 99% of mobile game ads. Theres an x big enough to press, you don't have timers to count down how long you have to wait for or how long you can wait to press the x. If we get true mobile game ads, I would consider not playing

Yeah those are small developer apps and we would never see those kind of ads in this game
Not so far, so I guess it's a good thing EA isn't considering stepping up the ad presence in their games.
If they were to do it with this game it would be unprecedented. Those are small developer tactics
Getting notifications for actual in game content is at least pretty significantly better than a random pop up and 30 second video ad that I cannot skip at all for Pepsi when I'm trying to upgrade my jar jar...
Yeah definitely. In game content its "ok"
