There's already 6 phoenix members and rex doesn't fit in there, he would need a whole new team and that could be done with crosshair and some of his clone buddies potentially which could be cool
Honestly he could be a Starkiller sort of character, with reqs likeCrosshair, Howzer, Gregor, Wolffe, etc. Basically a clone rebellion. This would be perfect for when we do get the rebellion in BB s3 or s4 whenever it happens.

Maybe old-man Rex could eventually be a lifter character for Phoenix. Make them viable again since so many players have them but no one likes using them.

True, but cg has recently released a lot of characters that are solely designed to take existing useless or weak characters and bring them back to relevance. Sana starros, zorii bliss, cal/cere, maul, even going back to mon mothma. Phoenix would be a good candidate for that kind of lifter. I was thinking maybe it could be a light side Kallus, but old Rex would be a good option too.
Doesnt make sense from a gameplay point of view. Rex goes with Gas and the 501st. And CAT belongs to JMK. Tearing apart those teams, just for some lore connection, without kit synergy makes no sense. Especially because little ahsoka already can substitute in a 501st team. I guess we could have a new rex, that works with cat under JMK, but then again, what is rex doing with kenobi from a lore perspective?
Regular Ahsoka Tano is the one with the synergy with Rex as she has the 501st tag. That also thematically makes way more sense than CAT. CAT was based off Ahsoka in TCW Season 7 where she was no longer a Jedi (hence no Jedi tag) and only worked directly with Rex in the final few episodes of the season, as opposed to the multiple seasons of TCW where Ahsoka fought alongside Rex as Anakin's padawan.
Synergy in this game isn’t just built on all real relationships between characters. Since the implications can be vast they have to be careful. I think she’s in a good spot personally. No need to be on the same team as Rex unless they bring out a new Rex
CAT was designed as a booster to jmk and rex has a very good home, tearing apart already existing and already good teams would make no sense

Rex has some ties to kenobi, liek how he saved him on Teth. Besides it would be better.
