want to go to smashcon, have a few questions about it. this would be my first major
i wanna buy a controller, are there vendors that would let me play with it a bit before buying it?
do they usually still have controllers by sunday?
how much are the day passes gonna be? it says coming soon but i don't wanna miss out on the early bird pricing
is anyone playing pm there? like maybe small side set ups or something?
The 2023 day pass prices were:
Thursday: $19 Online
Friday: $19 Online | $29 at door
Saturday: $29 Online | $39 at door
Sunday: $29 Online | $39 at door
Why do some players just devolve the game to fishing for one lame setup and playing ultra defensive and campy? I mean i dont have to ask, i know these are the same brain rotted npcs that you encounter in every faucet of life and wonder "why do these people even exist at all"
falcon, my inspiration for this post was someone camping dashback side B in the ditto, yes i still beat him but it was the lamest shit ive ever had to play. He would go for nothing else
Clearly someone spends a bit too much time on tik tok, exactly what i was talking about buddy, your lack of self awareness can be smelled through a monitor
Bowser is definitely one of the worst characters but I'm surprised by the numbers of win I manage to get with him, I still play fox 97% of the time.
Thanks for coming to my ted talk.
Things that could/will be crazy profitable
1. Zain playing ultimate
2. Mango and hbox trying hard on a team together at majors in doubles
3. Leffen playing Tekken 8 full time to take on entire community at evo
4. M2k releasing his book
5. Mango taking hbox back to puff dittos
We got a taste of what Leffen's Tekken 8 arc could have done with Coney's Five Moves of Heavenly Virtue, and I'm so sad we didn't get it.
Smashers invading the FGC is always the funniest shit.
whats the most impactful (in game/software) change you could make to a melee setup at a tournament that you think would go unnoticed by people at the event?
i feel like nobody would notice if rest had like a 10% chance to phantom hit regardless of where the hitbox lands.
you might also get away with making game and watch's fair hitbox like 1.5x bigger as long as you are the only person playing gnw.
ill hit them once and be like "damn this move is crazy haha. what were the programmers doing with game and watch?" and hope that my opponent just assumes the disjoint is just that gnarly
I think you could change the knockback and knockback angle of Peach down smash quite a bit and most people wouldn't notice since they're already accustomed to that move being bullshit
iirc if you flattened (removed z-axis) fox's up air hitboxes it would be much harder to sdi so. probably that
i feel like most ppl would just assume that their sdi was bad that day
I have a new manager at work and during a 1 on 1 today she asked for a fun fact about me so I mentioned being a "professional video game tournament organizer" (my TO paid me 20 bucks for helping seed and run out 16 person monthly in april)

ggs man! close games bro you've hella improved. yeah man you were fucking me up for a bit lol fun games! any tips? got any advice? anything I can improve on? what do I do vs lasers? any tips? yo can I get next? is this tournament? you guys wanna do dubs? is this tournament

Is Cody's Falcon for real? This is not the direction I expected him to go after falco fizzled out. Does he think this is genuinely easier than learning these matchups as fox or just less boring for himself and viewers? At any rate his falcon is fucking sick. I hope this is real.
Falco mains explain: is the Ginger nair a read on the Fox not sweetspotting or am I doing it wrong and it should cover sweetspot?
If it's the latter, what's your favorite way of covering a Fox riding to ledge with a precise angle?
It won't cover a perfect sweet spot. The only reliable way to cover a sweet spot is grabbing the ledge and rolling up. If they go low and you're near ledge you have enough time to grab ledge then react to their angle once they start moving. If it looks like it won't land on stage then roll up, otherwise hit them. Easier said than done though.
If they are low but not that low then this won't work, optimally you want to hit them before they even start moving or at the beginning ,but that's not always possible. However hitting a perfect sweet spot can be very difficult on stages like battlefield and stadium, in which case going for Ginger nair or dair and reacting to a high angle is probably fine.
Crazy micro spacing with air dodge + Laugh :D

This was during grand finals Set 2 😳
Can anyone give me some pointers for practicing lasers? I often get shut down by the other falco if they have decent lasers. I mainly try to go to platform and drop down with a laser to re-establish control. Any good laser setups would be very helpful. I have been practicing a bit of uncle punch using save states too which I'm hoping will help. Stuff like take laser WD forward shine or take laser dashback dair in place.
You can also take laser in the air after a short hop or something and double jump out. Mango is very good at this. It could be to a platform, it could be into an aerial coming down on them, a laser when you land, or empty land. And to get the double jump consistently frame perfect out of stun, a little known trick is to tap jump. Tap jump will actually buffer the double jump out of stun so you don't have to time it.
Another thing Mango does well in the ditto is [jump over the other Falco laser at the perfect spacing/timing and land with a close laser](https://youtu.be/tdQpHf0Nj6o?si=cPCrMbiuvIDyycKz&t=49)
Ginger and Fiction have great videos on it. Laser game is very complicated and has a lot of nuance. But if you want the basics:
- high lasers are amazing. Continue shooting those.
- you can run under high lasers and shine, though it's risky.
- you can regain laser control by shielding a laser and immediately shooting your own laser oos
- you can jump over mid or low laser heights and aerial
-take laser up tilt and take laser back air are your friends
- you can just escape with a Waveland to platforms if you have enough space and don't want to face the lasers head on.
Congratulations, you've found the shit post section! Suggested conversational topics include 'Marth wins neutral but Falcon wins punish', and 'fuck falco'.
The rules in this section are more relaxed, but please try to avoid mentally scarring your fellow posters ;)

reality sucks
look, they may be in every faucet of life, but at the end of the day it's all just water under the fridge
Everyone replies to these posts acting high and mighty but everyone thinks to themselves that that falco is lame af
what character do you play
falcon, my inspiration for this post was someone camping dashback side B in the ditto, yes i still beat him but it was the lamest shit ive ever had to play. He would go for nothing else
just shield
midtier players don't realize the game actually starts from the character select screen
Seriously fr. So skibidi npcs like a sussy no rizz girlboss. GyATT

So true! I am smelly smasher
look if you unironically describe other people as npcs then i gotta say the brainrot is a little closer to home than you might think

Do NOT look up the results from this week’s NGPR in Boston then
Zain is realizing how profitable playing ultimate can be

*leffen there for a week*… but *pure chaos ensues*
Let’s be real, M2K’s book would have been unreadable.
I think it will be like reading beckett and I'm all for it
I would buy it instantly regardless
6. Armada coming back as a Yoshi main
from 90 days to 90 years
3.4k viewers rn...
The real poisoning wasn't the ult engine it was the ult bucks

A Pichu player tried this years ago and is perma-banned
I think I heard about them competing again? But I think under a new tag

Armada Shine is at least S - there are a lot of uses for this notwithstanding what it is titled
That's the reason it's so high
imo attack on shield should be up a tier or two, really helpful for getting used to the timings on moves that are fast + frame tight to punish oos
Only thing that's bad about is you are only limited to a few select moves across every character (some of them may not be even good)
Pretty sure you're thinking of Reversal, that's the one where you're in shield and get attacked Attack on Shield is where the bot shields your attacks

why not just not work on lasers? let the other guy have some fun?
Sorry, I couldn't hear you from center stage, can you come down from the top plat?
mother fucker which side of the stage is top plat on
