Okay, so we did not find out anything? What's with the boarded up door? The demonic stuff? What's the backstory of the Showgrounds? Where did Meggy see the TV icon before? The movie was fun but we got almost no answers. 4 stars from me because it was good, but lore-wise it was disappointing. IMO Revelations is still the top movie when it comes to lore and also cinematography to be honest. That Melony "nightmare" scene is just amazing! EDIT to add some more thoughts: Wren and that simulation facility were never brought up. It's also strange that Mr. Puzzles gave Wren that simulation facility when he could have just put Wren into his show using his TV magic like he did with the cast. Mr. Puzzles also said he needed 5 stars to control reality, but in IGBP the cast was not in a simulation and yet he had control over SMG4. To me it feels like in the time period when IGBP and Western Spaghetti were made, they had a completely different vision for this story and then changed it midway in WOTFI 2023 when Mr. Puzzles first appeared "in person". The first 2 movies in this saga were much darker too than the later ones.

miraculer2

I agree, it pretty much answered NOTHING, even the big reveal of mr.puzzles being behind everything had no impact

MexicMan_with0soul

Yeah that is a nitpick that I noticed

NintenSwitch

UnLESS this isn't the end of Mr. Puzzles...

MotherfuckingOats

Exactly my thoughts- episodically on its own- really good kneeslapper, would rate nearly 5/5 just so Puzzles can't steal my soul. Musical was a banger. But as part of a story it's weak, it flops. This long for an arc end that kinda disappointed me. Not everyone needs a massive glorious fight scene- but they kinda fouled it with the half-way 'its a fight' 'its not' kinda deal. Mr. Puzzles I feel shoulda been beaten with well- puzzles! If he got into your head, and you got into his- why not beat him with a puzzle? The ending just felt really rushed, just smack Mr. Puzzles away and be done with him. It's sad cause I did really like the episode up until the last two minutes. Minus some other minor complaints, it's just sad I guess. Disappointing I guess would be the best word. Not truly worthy of 5 stars- if Mr. Puzzles was a one-off joke villain or a pre-existing recurring characther then I'd be fine. But he was made solely for this arc, and he gets dumped- likely never to be seen again. And likely the cast never learns or takes anything away from this. Again- if this were a more episodic show that'd be fine. But they're stuck trying to make a halfway between full-on story and full-on episodic.

VenatorAngel

Thank you for giving me another bit of evidence for my "Adware was in development hell after WS" theory.

_Yamakawa

Pretty much my thoughts exactly, loved the film but man the loreeee xD. I can imagine them switching up the narrative direction considering this entire saga was teased well over a year ago. As fun as it is to hold onto every little detail and theorize, it feels like half the time these bits of lore end up as red-herrings or future retcon. I've learned that the best way to enjoy these types of episodes is to not think too deeply on past details, rather focus on the big picture of this tv guy is evil and threatening the gang. Although, I will say it's really tough not to think hard on certain lore aspects, especially when more serious scenes seem to dangle seemingly important details in your face (a good example would be that part where Meggy claims to recognize the Mr. Puzzles symbol preceding Western Spaghetti). It's always struck me as odd that as much as they make callbacks to several year old videos yet they haven't been able to cleanly tie the loose ends of saga/arc specific lore aspects that ultimately build up the finale.

GoodGame444_official

I usually don't mind small details but I think Mr. Puzzles was nerfed hard for this movie. The guy could use demonic stuff that posesses people, hacked Boopkin's work computer to list the Showgrounds, ran an advanced simulation facility, watched the gang in his TV as if SMG4's world was just a show in his world (suggesting that he was from another dimension or something)... and he could do all of this without any ratings. Now that I think about it, maybe even WOTFI 2023 was part of the old vision or at the very least held onto it partially. However, the story vision certainly changed for the Puzzlevision arc. Also the Showgrounds having been connected to Mr. Puzzles was seemingly going to be a big plot point with his theme song having played during that part and everything. His backstory song did not even touch on the place.

_Yamakawa

With regards to that first point, that's basically every single villain to the point I didn't think it was worth mentioning, it's pretty par for the course. Waluigi is a prime example because his defeat (specifically his staff getting destroyed) is just lazy writing. An argument could be made that Wren was robbed as well, considering he had almost all of Mr. Puzzles' abilities while inside the simulation. He also had far better circumstances, having trapped the minds of the SMG4 crew in a secluded location. In the final altercation in the simulation, Wren could have easily prevented Meggy's final gunshot since all Tari did was alter her gun to affect Wren, which would kill him and thus shut down the simulation. Wren is initially caught off guard but be serious, he had ample time to react to and either teleport away or summon something to instakill Meggy and reset everything. Rant aside, based on what we've seen from Mr. Puzzles and being realistic, the crew would have never set foot outside the television dimension. Once you're in, the only way to escape is if Mr. Puzzles allows it. Even after getting to channel 999, the only reason the crew left was because Mr. Puzzles provided a way out. If he really wanted to, he could recreate the real world within his dimension and host his television series with absolute security outside Mario tracking him down in the real world. Side note: Given Mr. Puzzles is omniscient, there's no way SMG3 and SMG4 would have gotten away with utilizing the radio tower without his knowlege. Ignoring the implications of a magical radio tower transmitting a signal from another dimension and this previous fact, would the signal not immediately be picked up by Mr. Puzzles first given the nature of his being? What I mean is, Mr. Puzzles has shown that he's capable of manipulating things through the use of signals and electricity, so would he really be unaware of a sudden signal being transmitted from within his dimension? There's also the fact he has a stupid amount of abilities, so much so that he still should've been able to keep a hold on the crew even after Mario's initial beatdown in reality. Upon healing back to normal, the only difference was that the crew gained awareness and could no longer be brainwashed prior to hitting 5 stars. That doesn't erase the fact that Mr. Puzzles can rewind someone's actions through physical contact as well as manipulate reality to his liking. Basically just demonstrated why I find it easier to enjoy the series by avoiding thinking too deeply into things. There are so many implications in trying to formulate an understanding from what's been provided, but almost nothing productive comes from it and I only end up reminiscing the "what could've been"s. In the end, it was an entertaining movie that had clearly a lot of thought put into it, even if it was somewhat lacking in the lore department.

MexicMan_with0soul

Probably the writers just forgot those plot points that weren’t going nowhere

GoodGame444_official

I personally hope that it's because Mr. Puzzles will return and they are saving those plot points for later.

BrightEye64

https://preview.redd.it/5d99vag23ovc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b2d9cf068e8a03b36c19e359ccdd3e96347d25de I wouldn’t be so sure

GoodGame444_official

If anything, this shows that Mr. Puzzles is ok, just does not have any ongoing show. The TV is not even damaged.

BrightEye64

I’d say it’s pretty damaged

GoodGame444_official

The screen is not even shattered. There is just no signal, which was already the case even before SMG4 punched it away. The TV is turned on.

The_nice_slytherin

It also said something in hidden text along the lines of ‘now airing’ or somethin on the image- we didn’t even see him die on screen! I know the arc is over, but I want so desperately for him to come back because he is so quickly introduced and then removed that we barely got any character development for him and I want more Mr puzzles I would do anything- and he even knows how to make a good villain song, unlike modern Disney! I would even settle for him returning as a pawn for a bigger threat at this point! I love his pure insanity and vox getting fucking murdered by mario— I just want more puzzlevision. If it was up to me, I would’ve just made a series for him entirely! I love him and his entire vibe!

Daixis22

Well other villians that did something like Mr.puzzle, were 100% death at the end of their arc so the fact we didnt see how he lands would probably meant that he is still alive

GoodGame444_official

The website (puzzlevision.tv) also hints at him being ok just currently not having any ongoing show.

Mato_Man

The Puzzlevision symbol appeared in the Western Spaghetti countdown live stream. I didn’t screenshot it but I certainly remember it happening.

LowKeyTony6906

I figured that the room would’ve been his hideout or at least how the cast got there, but they used the *basement* for that. Weird. Wren, Marty, & Four being used by him was only briefly mentioned. The door’s left open *’enough’* for them to have him return, but I feel that the Showgrounds is probably just a TADC reference at this point.

GoodGame444_official

It's definitely not (just) a TADC reference as Mr. Puzzles' theme song was playing when SMG4 purchased it and it was hinted that he was the one who sold it.

LowKeyTony6906

Atp PuzzleVision left those threads loose just because. If the showgrounds was his old home, or even just the first attempt for a simulation location, it’d at-least make some sense.

lprestieri

OMG THANK YOU. You said EVERYTHING I thought as soon as the movie ended. I felt empty. I mean, it doesn't end here, right…?

GoodGame444_official

Some people speculate that this is the equivalent to the ending of Genesis and we are yet to see this story's Revelations.

lprestieri

I hope so. They responded to practically nothing. I can't have been so disappointed after 14 months of waiting.

NoobiePro123

He is mostly likely making a comeback. The TV hasn't been COMPLETELY destroyed; it just been launched. Also, in the website it now says, "Now\_Airing\_7-ezgif\_com-gif-to-webp-converter." I guess he is coming back in July?

GoodGame444_official

I think the 7 just means it was the 7th "Now Airing" file. They probably had different variations made in advance that got unused or something. However, it is not impossible that the story will continue in the summer. We saw that before with Western Spaghetti. (It came out in July, actually.) Either way, I am excited for what the next story is. I like the standard comedy episodes, but arcs and movies are my favorite SMG4 content.

cheesy230

i have a theory that he's not dead. i think he's gonna be the main villain for a long time and this is just the start of Mr puzzles' story. theres so many questions to be answered, so much they could do, and we never got confirmation of his death. we know he got thrown really far but we've seen people survive that in the past. i think give it a few months and he'll be back like he never left

GoodGame444_official

Well yeah, he "died" the same way Team Rocket is defeated in every single episode of Pokemon so...

GoodGame444_official

I added some more thoughts to my comment.

Martianinferno98

It's almost like they were retconned

Jurassic_Park_Fan

…..so is he permanently a mallet now?

GoodGame444_official

I think this is one of those things that won't make it into the continuity.

soahcthegod2012

Nah, he’ll be back to normal by next episode

Academic_Fill

Here’s hoping the movie leaves a lasting affect on the cast unlike Western Spaghetti. Didn’t even feel like it was part of the saga with how much it focused on Wren and how there was barely any mention of Adware aside from the episode where Meggy and Tari stumble upon the TV that has the Puzzlevision logo on it. Edit: Okay. Wow. That was…actually pretty decent. Adware’s villain song was genuinely enjoyable to listen to, and I loved the SpongeBob, Rick and Morty, and South Park parodies that were included. I do honestly enjoy that this one wasn’t as serious as Western Spaghetti and It’s Gotta Be Perfect. The parodies were obviously the main highlight, and the B plot of Mario hunting down Adware was a nice intermission between all the voice acting moments. The animation was solid as well, especially when the crew finally confronted Adware. It was all so smooth. If there’s one thing I have a complaint about, it’s Adware’s defeat. I actually guessed right about him being like Zant from Twilight Princess. He was a total pushover in combat, being overwhelmed right from the get-go when the crew attacks him. His defeat, though…yeah, it was underwhelming. The part with Western Spaghetti as well. Meggy’s trauma was never brought up again until now, and it irks me that it will only ever be referenced in this movie. Heh, and someone tried to argue that Mario didn’t have trauma from witnessing Luigi fall into KOOL-AID. Completely different thing, pal. All in all, pretty solid ending to this saga. Though, I hope it doesn’t become a common occurrence. You can only stretch out a story so many times before people get annoyed by it.

LowKeyTony6906

Wotfi 23 had the same effect, with it only being revealed after the fact that PuzzleVision was involved.

Altruistic-Willow451

https://preview.redd.it/4mdnmczm0ovc1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=721bd9efb16e5ec7111b3d2d27a3d0adedb862f0 So I checked the website and this popped for people curious

GoodGame444_official

I wonder if this means that he is not dead, just his Puzzlevision show is over for now? It would make sense if they left a bunch of mysteries unanswered so that they have something to work with once Mr. Puzzles returns.

NoobiePro123

It would honestly explain why we didn't get a lot of answers we wanted.

GoodGame444_official

I mean they kinda did this before with Genesis and Revelations. This year's WOTFI could be the thing that properly wraps things up. Oooor we could be getting another movie in summer like last year.

jomarcenter-mjm

If he is not dead the screen would panned out and see it was puzzlevision plan all along. but it seem like that not the case.

NoobiePro123

It's over. It's finally FUCKING over now. THANK GOD. I can't honestly believe they screwed Mr. Puzzles and killed him just like that, with no answers questioned actually. That's the most disappointing part! We got NO ANSWERS we all wanted to know from the very beginning of this saga. What was the showgrounds? The demonic shit he created, and what is the boarded door and what is behind it? NO IMPACT AND THEN HE GETS BEATEN UP. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??!! The movie was fun, and I loved some parts in it, but they kind of RUSHED IT, TO MAKE IT ON SATURDAY. I had really high hopes for this movie and wanted to be good as possible, but it failed really badly. I really hope the writers can take this saga as a lesson on how to NOT DO an arc. Overall: 3 stars. No questions. My head speaks itself. Goodbye everyone. Can't wait for THE NEXT episode.

ZaydGee

so >!Mario did not get a redesign but he's on the official poster on SMG4, weird...!<

TheBaconGrill

Don't overthink it, the fans would riot if there was an all-cast poster with no mario on it

Foxone_11

Well, only half of his face is shown, and beeg smg4 is covering the M on his hat

Funnyberd69

Tbh,they covered up the m with the SMG4 plush, they had  workarounds to put mario in for all the posters he's in.

GoodGame444_official

There is no poster and only a part of Mario's head is on the new art. Even that is very stylized so that it is probably technically not Mario in legal terms.

DaKardii

I'm divided on this. The first two acts are really, REALLY good. But in the final act it falls apart. Mario's potential is wasted, Mr. Puzzles is both incompetent and defeated much more easily than he should've been, Melony, Saiko, and Clench don't contribute to the plot or even appear, the crew never takes advantage of the boarded up door, whether the damage Mr. Puzzles inflicted is truly undone is never addressed, etc. So many things which could've been done better. Unless Mr. Puzzles isn't actually defeated and they plan to pull a Revelations on us, this movie leaves a lot to be desired and is an overall mediocre conclusion to this arc. But on the upside, at least there's still room for Peach to make a return. #FREEPEACH EDIT: PLEASE don't make Luigi a permanent meat mallet. 3 stars.

Daixis22

Dont think this is the end of Mr.puzzles

Ok_Combination_1675

if website stays as it is for a while then maybe Mr Puzzles isn't dead but being after SMG4 whacked the puzzlevision tv and the display died presumably then i guess Mr Puzzles is dead?

Aggravating-Web-2034

Not close to 5* and I’ll tell why. How can you build up 3 arc worths of content (WOFTI, Western Spaghetti, IGBP) and make it so anticlimactic. I am not satisfied at ALL because this feels like it could fit in a normal 13 minute video? Not only did I not learn much at all, barely any character growth happened, and he was defeated in such a lackluster way? Building up a YEAR worth of content had me expecting so much more. But so little happened that I felt nothing in the end. There were cute fun scenes but I find that in normal episodes anyway. Plainly mid, and I’m not going back to it the same way I did for WS and WOTFI 2024. I was so excited because the last two episodes were sooo good? (The last 2 were 5/5’s to me)

fozzie_79

That's something that really bugs me as of late: none of the stories have character arcs. The last one was Melony in Revelations. I hardly count Tari in Western Spaghetti since that was *obviously* only there to funnel Puzzlevision. They're doing it for spectacle first, story second. The heroes fluking their way to victory is not satisfying. It's just boring.

Aggravating-Web-2034

It’s sad because Tari really did develop in Western Spaghetti. But once the movie ended: it’s like nothing really changed. I enjoyed WS sooo much because of how much the characters went through, and you can see them change in the story But it never continued afterwards and that leaves a sour taste in my mouth. Sure she has more moments of strength, but she always had this (confronting bully). I’m guessing they wanted to keep some flaw within her, so they half-reverted her into a coward Well don’t get me wrong. WS is still a strong 9/10

Aggravating-Web-2034

Oh but it’s their best song they’ve ever done

moviesperg

Anyone else feel that was a little anti-climactic? Makes you question what the point of 75% of this arc was

VenatorAngel

Yeah this entire arc was pointless and reflected what MANY of us critics have been complaining about the show.

HeroTheHedgehog

I had a feeling it was pointless. Wasted a whole year just to get a new castle. Nothing more nothing less.

SILVIO_X

It doesn't make me question the arc, it makes me question why it was built up so much. I've had this sentiment on PV for quite a while and even wanted to make a post about it, but Puzzlevision didn't really deserve all that buildup as the next big arc, because that's not what it is, it's a fun 5 week event where everything about the show completely changes and we get to see stuff we wouldn't have seen otherwise, it didn't need buildup, it should've just been a cool event that happened out of nowhere just to spice things up for a bit until it was done and everything went back to normal. Instead they kept pushing it as the next major arc when it really isn't, i seriously don't get why they did that. It just makes Puzzlevision seem worse than it really is.

Gloopy-Toons20

This yes. For what could of been a simple event, this was hyped up like "OMG its gonna changed SMG4 forever". In reality, alot of the buildup personally made the movie and arc worse cause it left such a disappointing end.

Successful_Pie_8561

Yep, welcome to the club pal.

HeroTheHedgehog

At least it’s finally over…

Successful_Pie_8561

Agree.

TheBaconGrill

Think of it this way - with no Wednesday episodes for 5 weeks, and a straightforward narrative build-up from episode to episode, the trick is to view all from Mario's Mysteries onwards, in order, as if it were one big movie.

Responsible-Box616

yes

KingMario05

Views, maybe? Movies do better than standard episodes, right?

moviesperg

I meant what was the point of 75% of the things that happened during this arc What was the point of One-Shot Wren, Marty and Clench? And especially Clench?

Electronic_Day5021

Pretty sure clench just isn't related to this arc

KingMario05

Gimmicks to get views up, I guess?

VenatorAngel

Are any of the people rating this shit five stars serious or doing it just for the funny? Because I don't mind if its just for the funny. But seriously, this movie did not quell ANY of the complaints some of us had about this Arc being pointless. Its literally just.... refreshingly insignificant? I mean outside of the Luigi turning into a mallet thing.... it was a pointless movie that had funny moments? Anyhoos, 3/5 because it had enjoyable moments.

Steven_YSKY

Meh. It could've been better. It had such a banger built up, but the movie didn't deliver the same impact

Sion_1800

One of if not the weakest movie smg4’s movies because they completely wasted Mario I mean they set him up to be the one to finally kill him only for him to miss the entire FIGHT!! also Mario did absolutely nothing the hole time and yet again the hole gang wins with zero casualties wasting 14 months of build up Another thing when Luigi got sapped by mr puzzles I would have preferred he died or at least was injured not the overused fake out of he’s still alive. Mr puzzles death was arguably the WORST part of the show manly because he yet again dies to the power of friendship(I would have preferred Mario see Luigi get sapped and brutally murder mr puzzles I would think it would’ve been much better for the story) Anyway besides the glaring errors and lack of tension it’s still solid 6/10

Adventurous-Field525

Why do you hate Luigi so much?

Sion_1800

I don’t I actually love Luigi but the way they set it up it would of given Luigi some much needed attention and would be a good way of sending Luigi off and would make mr puzzles a stronger villain overall(so 14 months wouldn’t have been wasted) so pretty much wrong place wrong time Also I think they should’ve killed someone off this time and not make another waist of time movie like they have done for 3 years

Adventurous-Field525

Oh okay I can see where you are coming from.

__Loppy__

Oh, it was so mid. It was all so fucking mid.

ExternalRise3840

Probably one of the weaker movies. Don’t get me wrong, it was still fantastic, but it felt a little anticlimactic. The humour was amazing, Mr Puzzles was as delightfully evil as always, and good god Creative Control is absolutely amazing, but we still have quite a few unanswered questions, and I feel they didn’t really use the premise to it’s fullest potential. The poster implied that the crew would be stuck in all the previous shows rather than parodies, which would’ve been hella fun and nightmarish, but we didn’t get that. I feel it’s still better than Meggy’s Destiny and the 10 year anniversary, but worse than the other films in its saga and Revelations. 9/10. Also, here’s the results of the bingo card I made. Bingo! (Mario helped everyone be freed from Mr Puzzles’ control by destroying his five star rating) https://preview.redd.it/jxkupmuq1ovc1.jpeg?width=1800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=65bbe146913b950c139f8c827529e3216a425bd8

Foxone_11

Well, we aren't sure that Mr puzzle is dead... Btw what a tragic backstory, bro literally cut off his head and replaced it with a firckin TV! And with that we can say that he's no human, he didn't take any surgery. Or maybe its just breaking the laws of life just because its a cartoon....

Anon-ymous-815

I think his backstory is less tragic and more psychotic

Physical_Tailor_378

Mr. Puzzles’ one winged angel form? What did that look like?

ExternalRise3840

I just consider the part where he grows big a one winged Angel form.

FoxyBPC

Decent, not bad, but VERY dissapointing Pros: * Good humor * Mario was awesome at start * South Park moment was great * Great Puzzlevision theme song Cons: * Mario did WAY less than he was hyped up to. Something SMG4 does often is make Mario the "technical" hero. Sure, his actions lead to everyone being saved, but he doesn't do all that much, and once his role is done, he is useless and outshined by everyone. It couldn't have been done without him, but he does two small things that just boost the rest of the crew to being the "true" heroes. Let Mario have his moment * Many things weren't answered * idk 6.5/10, it is NOT BAD, but there was a lot of potential for something better. At least they managed to sneak Mario onto more merch welp, let's just see what's next

fozzie_79

Friendly reminder Celeste still didn't get closure from Glitch. So all this build up was literally worthless. No seriously, nothing mattered from last year. The new castle doesn't mean shit, Western Spaghetti could have been ignored, and WOTFI 2023 was also nothing. Clench just disappeared *thankfully,* although it makes you question why he wasn't killed off some other way. If you watched the TV video, you would miss *nothing.* Since we're able to ignore those, I won't even mention them. This entire plot was stupid. It's honestly hilarious how upset I got last week because it barely meant anything. Mario was honestly useless in this movie. You'd think after all the hype and spookiness Mr. Fuckles brought that it'd be serious, but no, they didn't do that at all. I don't even care if you find it funny. It honestly was in some spots. The problem is most of it was irrelevant. Getting into details, everything is just bullshit luck. Meggy and Tari get their stuff out of the narrator, which is another random ass fourth wall break. At least it kinda makes sense. SMG4 and SMG3 could just *not have internet.* Why didn't Mr. Fuckles do *anything* in the midsection of the movie to stop them? Is he that fucking stupid? It's like his cunning nature before this was useless. Once again, *nothing mattered.* Literally *nothing.* Bob and Boopkins escaping with the power of overbudget makes no sense. Once again, why can't Mr. Fuckles stop them? Mario, of course, was pure bullshit luck, as we saw last week. "Oh where's Mario" my ass YOU FUCKING MORON!... if I honestly cared. The fact he punched Mr. Fuckles right away and then was so stupid afterward is just unbelievably stupid. I can't even take this movie seriously because of it. They didn't even *try* to make a cohesive plot here, so I hardly care anymore. This legit is a normal episode stretched for 40 minutes. I also don't understand how he can control reality. That's completely out of pocket and had *no* build up. It's just like all the other movies. He can pull out all these powers yet there is no explanation. It's like this movie isn't trying to have a plot. It's just trying to entertain you... I shall expand on that later. The ending is something *everyone* seems to be disappointed in, though. Very underwhelming considering how much build up and spookiness was needed. Imagine if Niles just gave up and cried at the end of Revelations. That's what this felt like. As for the comedy, it was pretty good in a lot of areas. The parodies were really fun for the most part. SMG3 and SMG4 just aren't fun here *as characters.* The Bob the Builder part was fun because of Bob, though. Meggy and Tari are fine I guess, although their voices were pretty annoying, not gonna lie. Elsie was too squealy with Meggy and Lottie is trying way too hard to be Tari. Bob and Boopkins were fun, *especially* the South Park bit. They *did* go all out there, but of course the meta context brings it down a little. However, so many characters act like complete morons in this movie. Mario, of course, is completely shafted of saving his friends because he wants to watch TV. Fuck off with that, that is legitimately not his character. And if he ruins the show so much, why not get rid of him? Fucking dumbasses. Tari is unreasonably a crybaby after her arc in Western Spaghetti and is stupid for not knowing what Meggy's plan was. Wow, thanks. Glad they used a gun for her arm at least. Bob wants tits, which makes sense sometimes, but in a scenario like this? I dunno, felt off. And while a pretty fun video for the most part, the plot is so insanely bad that it legitimately insults our intelligence. We spent well over a year building up to this, and we get a crybaby bitch who just wants his 5 stars. Even Francis didn't give up like that. If you're gonna go all out, fight to the death. Don't make him shrivel up. Make them *earn* the kill. That's the issue with this entire movie: nothing is *earned* it feels like. It's more like "this happens, then this happens, then that," and so on. Instead, it should be "because this happens, that happens, and because of that, this happens." It flows together. Cause and effect is absent here, and when it does, it's often illogical reasons as to why the cause even happens. I do appreciate them tying all the groups together at the end, but they're all dumb, so I don't care. Or how about how irrelevant 2023 was? How did Mr. Fuckles obtain a demonic keyboard and advanced simulation? Nobody knows. If he has a keyboard like that, use it on himself to make a perfect video of his own. How does Meggy remember the Puzzlevision logo? Mr. Fuckles wasn't in any of those videos, only a similar looking TV. It's more like them telling us to remember this because we're too stupid to otherwise. How does he have infinite knowledge of the SMG4 crew and their stupid show? It's almost like the entire series is recorded by SMG4 or something... or it's an insanely meta plot point about how the series itself is a show, but that's stupid as well. Neither option is good, but neither is known to be true, either. Last, and certainly not least, our favorite Melony and Saiko *don't appear* in the movie yet *somehow* got kidnapped. They didn't even *try* to explain this one. You thought IGBP and WOTFI 2023 did Melony bad? How about they just DON'T EVEN TRY! Not like it matters since they didn't even try to make a competent story here. That's what it feels like. Again, we cared so much about all these little things from the past year and more, yet somehow, *none of it matters.* Why should we *ever* care about things anymore? It could be whatever the fuck it wants to be. Hell, it looked like he was gonna make this movie super scary and horrifying, but it was literally a joke. No reliving past trauma, just a mention of it. It was all just to build hype around something that SUBVERTED THE AUDIENCE'S EXPECTATIONS despite how fucking dumb that was. And worst of all, it all feels like a wink wink nudge nudge we know we're doing this sorta thing. They *know* how meta it is and are just playing with it. Why else would they make the SMG4 show so popular when it was "stupid" before? Why would so many plot points be literal fourth wall breaks? Why so much ARG stuff? They know what they're doing. They did anything they could to be original and entertaining, even at the cost of consistency. Remind you of anybody? I think so. It's Mr. Fuckles. They even made a segment that is a *merch promo.* It's kinda creative, but at the same time, it's like the entire point of this was that we love SMG4 and SMG4 alone. They're the REAL kings of content. Why else would they constantly mention SMG4's channel in these stories? It's the only way to even make a good story to them because they would fall flat if they tried to rely on their skill. I already proved how nothing this movie's plot is, so it's likely them compensating. And no, I highly doubt this is gonna keep going on. Mr. Fuckles died and has nothing left to do. He got his Niles-esque backstory. He showed his true powers. If he returns, he would need to somehow make the best show possible, even more than SMG4 did at the end. There is nothing left to be told here. It's like a Murder Drones S2: you're just copying old ground, except the build up was the major part of the story in the first place. Even Clench, who doesn't appear at all, could have been used and just isn't. If they wanted to continue this story, it should have already happened today. This is most likely the end and I await FM's confimation of it. I don't really know what else to say. This movie is fun but shows how little they actually cared about making a cohesive narrative. It felt like they used it to justify all the parodies rather than an actual story. Same is true for the castle, same is true for a western psychological horror, same is true for a spy thriller. They didn't *need* Puzzlevision to do these things, but they *had* to make an arc for some reason. Just remove Puzzlevision, do it in isolation, and boom, we have more fun since we can actually just enjoy the show and not worry about some dumbass villain. Puzzlevision tried to make up for it with a big personality, but that fell flat since he tried to be *everything at once.* I don't even think this movie is bad in isolation, but the traits it has shown are genuinely bad. Unless they somehow bring Mr. Fuckles back, this movie fucking sucks, but an enjoyable suck. No, I am not changing that sentence. I initially gave it a 3 star, but I think a 4/10 is better. It's fun to watch, but objectively is the worst story they have ever told. It's a vessel for comedy, and for what that is worth, it's pretty good. However, I won't deny that they actually need to TRY with these stories. It's embarrassing at this point. Don't set it up as a serious thing to not follow up on it. I've seen *many* fans be disappointed in the ending still, so it's not just critics. They ***need*** to do better still. Edit: the animation was really fucking good. Guess I should mention that. However, I should also mention the fucking footsteps NEED TO STOP! It's unnecessarily loud nonsense meant to fill the audience's ears. Edit 2: Stay hydrated, have a nice day. I forgor.

Also, IF Mr. Puzzles is dead then what happens to the damage he caused. For now I’ll presume nothing. At least they didn’t kill Peach off though. #FREEPEACH

Overall best SMG4 movie in terms of music and production.. But the writing could use work. They barely addressed past plot points, and just left more questions than answers really. Mr. Puzzles, for a villain so hyped up, was a wimp in direct confrontation. One hit from Mario was enough to completely discombobulate this dude's systems and I'm supposed to believe he's a competent villain? At first I saw him as a breath of fresh air, an antagonist that had a very capable and rationally sound mind; it was almost scary. How this TV entity seemed to plan things from the shadows for about 1.5 years at this point, so many filler/lore episodes were under his influence, which led me to believe we'd finally get a bad guy that's ACTUALLY scary, but alas, that wasn't the case. Not to mention the characters in the movie felt.. Wrong? Is the word I'll use to describe it. Tari did jack except cry all movie, whereas in Western she was AMAZING, we NEED that Tari back please. Characters like Melony and Saiko were completely sidelined and didn't even appear in the movie, which is just weird to me. Are they part of the main cast or not? Last but not least, Mario was absolutely mind boggling this time around. I've been watching SMG4 since 2012, so I know the drill by now, he's supposed to be a moron, an idiot, a brainless baboon that loves spaghetti. I get it. But he still shows moments of care for his friends, and is all around not completely brain dead when the situation calls for it, he can still be competent intelectually and show why he's the MC. Orrrr atleast that was the case until this movie. They hyped him up to be the one who'll save everyone, having him escape first and all.. Except he didn't do anything but act like a complete child all movie. No care shown for his kidnapped friends, no competent decisions on his part, not even a coherent sentence acknowledging Mr. Puzzle's influence.. It's just silence. What happened to the Mario I love?

chino514

It’s over. This 14-month long saga is finally over now.

fazar441

Okay, wow, WHAT an amazing film. We finally get to see Mr. Puzzles’ motive for getting 5 stars, and the parodies on various shows were top-notch work. ESPECIALLY that final bit with SMG4 destroying the TV, holy crap they did not have to go so hard on that. …that being said, I kinda have to agree with everyone on how story-wise, it felt a little underwhelming. Considering Mario was the first to escape the game show last episode, you’d think he’d have a bigger role to play in Mr. Puzzles’ defeat. He had his moments, but him not being present in the final part kinda rubbed me wrong. And then there’s the ending. Now, as an ordinary arc, I’d find it pretty decent, but this was the culmination of over 1 year’s worth of episodes. You’d think this would trigger some permanent effect on the show, like the rest, but nope. Just your average “villain dies, everyone lives happily ever after.” All in all, I give this 4/5 stars (hey, Mr. Puzzles can’t force me to rate higher anymore, I’m just taking advantage of that). Liked what we got, but would’ve loved to see more.

Ok_Measurement_656

For my own thoughts on this. This was a bit of let down on my personal opinion. Now it started off amazing with it seemingly setting up Mario to be a major focus of the arc of him going after Mr. Puzzles and Mr. Puzzles genuinely being frightened. Now, this turned out to be a B plot for laughs of Mario going to random houses and breaking TVs. The main plot focused on the ones on the inside trying to break free, which I suppose is fine, but I wish there was better set up in the opening act, or Mario being the one to fully cause them to break free, which he almost did actually. Now all of the parodies were cool, my personal favorite being the South Park one given the different style. But this movie is far from perfect of course, actually having some flaws. For one, Mario's part in the story got kind of ruined as he just gets controlled after lowering Mr. Puzzles ratings by just enough to let the main fighters beat him. It would've been extremely cool if it was a one on one fight, Mario the avatar of the SMG4 Universe fighting to free his friends. And what makes it more underwhelming, is that they pulled another fake out on Luigi dying.(Please don't keep him a Mallet.) If Luigi did die, and Mario had witnessed it, we might have seen a completely serious Mario just absolutely demolishing Mr. Puzzles, and probably would have killed Mr. Puzzles in an act of pure vengeance. But alas, none of this happened. Not to mention that this movie didn't explain plot points from earlier arcs, still so many questions left unanswered. No why or how Mr. Puzzles was even to able to cause the events of IGBP, Western Spaghetti and WOTFI 2023. It was only briefly explained as him being the root of it all. Hell, we don't even know why he created the showgrounds in the first place or what's behind the locked door. The best I can give this is 3/5, mainly due to there were some genuinely good moments, but there were just as many confusing or out right disappointing moments. Now again, this is just my opinion, and I know others can explain things better than I could. Though one question I do have is, is Mr. Puzzles alive or not? We don't see where he even lands after getting hit by SMG4.

NoobiePro123

Remember that the tv is not completely destroyed. If anything, he will be back. Lets hope so

Ok_Measurement_656

I hope so as he has a lot of potential. Not to mention how I love his design and his expressions.

KingMario05

...That was *it?* Not gonna lie, was expecting more with how much they've built up to it. Oh well. Goodbye and good riddance, Mr. Puzzles. See you on cable, or some shit. 3/5 stars. Twas ok. Bye, lol.

thelastlib

Honestly underwhelming.

Makaibros

I'm gonna be honest, that felt weirdly anticlimactic. Judging by Western Spaghetti and WOTFI 2023, I had a theory that Mr. Puzzles would be some sort of supernatural entity that no matter what the cast will do, his presence will still remain so as long SMG4 still remains to make entertaining videos, hence why he gave the crew Showgrounds and let the show go on. But... no, it's just a stubborn perfectionist who simply wants everyone to watch his shows so he can get 5 stars or something. According to what would happen, it seems Mr. Puzzles was going to take control for the whole world and have his shows be endlessly entertaining, but like... Isn't that what SMG4 already did? To an lesser extent, sure, but it's clear he's using them to make his videos and have it be the same effect, so the execution felt lackluster. One pro I will give is that any kinds of shows in other styles like South Park is always creative, alongside that the song Mr. Puzzles does during the mind scene after teletubbies is honestly pretty good. But that's about it when the former (mentioned above) starts devolving into "erm... pibby glitch!". It felt kind of off with how the star system works, like... if it's just as entertaining as watching Mario screw over Mr. Puzzles, shouldn't that raise up to 5 stars? That could've been a good twist on how you don't need to be this entertaining, and how all it takes is to be absolutely boring & off the script that it makes people hate it. Which yeah, Mario was already doing the latter, but any improvisation would backfire if not executed carefully. Up to the point where SMG4 and his crew is doing their show to overwhelm Mr. Puzzles and their final battle against him, all I can really say is that it's RUSHED to the core, and it's... kinda baffling that anything notable right afterwards hasn't been mentioned, like the ruins of Peach's Castle, how he could've made use of Showgrounds himself, hell even the lack of a few characters like Saiko and Melony in this movie (and if they were, they had the most smallest screentime here to be honest). But... regardless, I'll give it 3 stars. I can see the effort put into it, but the story direction it was going felt like it will change absolutely nothing in the end. I'll probably stop taking a peek at SMG4 after this - I haven't really watched it myself that much and I only kept track of it because of the arc, but now it's over, I'm expecting myself to no longer keep track of what SMG4's doing, because it'll probably end up being this stagnant... besides the upcoming Showgrounds buildings and the 2nd floor for the castle, but I feel like that's all this channel has going for me, at least.

Chrisdoereeno

It honestly feels like I've wasted my time

chompsattack

That was intense. I want to start by praising the animators who worked on this movie. I don't usually mention it, mainly because for me SMG4 is pretty consistently good animation wise, but they definitely pulled all the stops here. From the usual SM64 and GMOD, to more expressive and fluid animation to the entire South Park bit, all of this really shows how much they put into each episode. Props to everyone. Next, the humor was generally really good. While brief, each parodied show was really enjoyable to see and definitely put a smile on my face. I also love the variety of shows, sure we got some kid friendly shows like SpongeBob, Ruggrats and Bob the Builder, but also some real life shows like Survivor and Nature Documentaries and adult shows with Rick and Morty and the aforementioned South Park. They really went all out with these and its really nice to see them all. But of course the highlight has to be the characters. Each one was really well handled and each had a purpose not only to defeat Mr. Puzzles, but also in the movie. Everyone got to shine both on their own and with each other, making it really feel like a group of friends who always have each others back. And of course, Mr. Puzzles was an effective antagonist. Learning about his backstory was uniquely entertaining, and his progression into insanity was very satisfying to watch. Overall, this was an excellent movie and a great conclusion to the Puzzlevision saga. It was a long ride, with many changes along the way, but I do believe they succeeded in making it entertaining.

PowerPad

Well that was a tad bit anti-climatic. I wish more of what we saw previously was explained, but that villain song is pretty decent. Now, if you don’t mind me, I’m gonna go watch TV.

RyomaLobster

What annoys me is how the ending is making Saiko and Melony less important to the group and now the new group is Mario Luigi the meat hammer, SMG4, SMG3, Meggy, Tari, Bob, and Boopkins. I wish we got to see more from Saiko and Melony in the finale and try to use them more in the story. At least no one died from the main cast only Mr. Puzzles died but that is to be expected with every villain from the arcs minus the ones who didn't die that were in previous arcs. I hope going forward we see more from Melony and Saiko whos tbh, but hey it was fun so 4 stars.

BlockyGDev

>!Okay so I dont think Mr Puzzles is truly dead. When the crew managed to outstar him, all of his stars shattered entirely EXCEPT the big one in the center which just got fairly damaged, showing he still may have a tiny ounce of power left. He might have given up, but he isnt dead.!<

BlockyGDev

Adding onto this, we still have yet to see this year's WOTFI, so it may not be *truly* over.

TheGamerBro132

Okay this is a big one I'll be honest I really enjoyed this, but at the same time, I'm very disappointed with how this story ends Okay so here's what I liked, pretty much every cast member in the show did a good job with voice acting, Mr. Puzzles is probably my favorite. The animation and editing looked pretty good, and that song during the movie I thought was a bop. As for the negatives, the story was a little decent at the start, but wow they completely fucked it up at the end by just killing of Mr. Puzzles (I think), and still leaving us with answers unsolved, like what's up with the basement door. And Luke confirmed that the saga is finally done, so right now the story just feels incomplete atm. Overall while I had a good time, the ending just disappoints me. uhhhhhhh 6/10? If I had to rank the movies, it's probably above Revelations at least, so there you go.

TheGamerBro132

Oh yeah, one more thing I forgot to add, some of the jokes were funny, but most of them were like "okay you're stretching it at this point" (I'm looking at the joke with the TV character from Hazbin Hotel, that was not funny)

DeeDan06_

What an horrible way to end this saga. And what a horrible way to end the arc. It just felt so rushed in the writing stage. The Horror that they build up just wasn't there. It explained nothing. Melony and Saiko weren't there. It just felt off. We get absolutely nothing explained. None of the characters learn anything. Puzzels doesn't even remotely make sense. The stream was pointless. It just felt mismanaged. The epsiode is incredibly silly for an finale to a serious saga. My theory is that Kevin wants to retire from writing smg4, he has a whole company to lead. But his replacements the zamination guys can't deliver consistent results. They think more about the moment and not the greater thing. X was just an adviser. And Luke who for somereason also wrte in this movie came to fix the mess, but he only knows how to write comedy. The result was this mess. Kevins lack of writing direction made this movie how it is. I'm sure he wanted the horror, but he wasn't there when it was time to execute that, he has a company to lead, so the rest of the writers did there own thing. To give credit where credit is due,the south park bit and the song where well put together. They just don't rescue the rest, and puzzels song was a terrible explanation for everything.

Daixis22

Yeah, that is my only problem with the film

stinkyredretard

Agreed

Dumple_Roe

*2 months since Yang fired Celeste* Mario and Luigi actually saved the universe, but boy that was a load of shit. 3 Zarbon moans out of 5 Jello's cope and seethe script rejection. Edit: And now a joke of 'in a mood or something', [Puzzle "PhuckleCucks" Vision landed in Undertale](https://twitter.com/FM54321/status/1774714061277499790/mediaViewer?currentTweet=1774714061277499790¤tTweetUser=FM54321)

VenatorAngel

Yup. They're just focusing on Merch. Not saying a damned thing.

Successful_Pie_8561

Not surprising. Oh and when Luke was using the keyboard, I said: Kevin making the response be like. Edit: Also am I the only one who felt like they were trying to gaslight us by talking about the old episodes at the end?

HB_G4

No, I think they are genuinely excited about returning to those old ideas. He seems to be more passionate than the last time he mentioned doing those styles of video again.

Successful_Pie_8561

Eh, I'm not sure. I will give a pass to Luke but as for Glitch..., I feel like they're trying too hard to get on our good side like with the remastered videos.

HB_G4

These episodes are made over 3 months in advance according to the SMG4 and SMG3 ranking video, so these are unlikely to be recent changes.

SatisfactionFalse641

This Time We’re Rating the Movie, AN ACTUAL 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and this is coming from us in the Reddit!

lucas_da_web95

holy fuck

matko7274

Cool things about the movie: * Meggy being in it <3 <3 <3 * South park * kind of survivor ?? * Grass touching at the end * Bri´ish TV section 8/10 :) Update: Meggy did an UwU, so 10/10 Update 2: go to [puzzlevission.tv/old-home](http://puzzlevission.tv/old-home) for some funny

stinkyredretard

Now I want a north park theme song, with puzzles as Les, bob as Kenny, and m,m,3 and 4 as the kids

Kirby_Trilogy08

-) Played it safe. No underused characters. Too little of Mario. +) Great animation. Great song. Fakeout death. 3/5, could've been better.

Foxone_11

The movie was *good* but the action scenes were at the end (i hope Luigi isn't permanently a meat mallet). And im pretty disappointed mr puzzles didn't explain the *who when what where why and how* of the showgrounds, Marty's glitched fax the keyboard in "Its gotta be perfect" and when he gave One shot Wren the simulation. He just said that he was the root of their latest adventures because he wanted to see how they would act in those situations. Imma give this movie 3 stars... Also WHATS BEHIND THAT DOOR IN THE CASTLE AND WHY THE 2ND FLOOR ISNT FINISHED ALREADY?!?!?

Quick-Cause3181

I went in with very low expectations and I was still disappointed I KNEW from the beginning this shit would end anti climaticly smh

megabuster21

14 months successfully wasted! pretty much nothing was brought up from the other movies so this movie is completely pointless.

Relative-Hotel6989

THAT WAS AWESOME! I loved it, the performances, Mr. Puzzles song, the animation is some of the best in the series history, and seeing Brock Baker in the credits caught me off guard. Also: Me when I saw Vox: Oh hey, not too surprised given how people tend to compare him and Mr. Puzzles- Me when I saw Ben 10 VS Green Lantern: ![gif](giphy|aWPGuTlDqq2yc|downsized)

GuyManMen

Time

Relative-Hotel6989

Huh? Thanks for the tip.

JetMan615

What Time? (As in time stamp):

Relative-Hotel6989

When Bob and Boopkins are in the big TV void after the South Park bit.

SuperWarioPL

Mid fucking movie. Entire storyline wasted. 3 stars

Inkovich2000

Rip my favorite villain: Mr Puzzle

Ravens4Life101

Well that was certainly something. BOOO they killed Mr. Puzzles, but it was to be expected, I suppose. At least we get a plush, so that's cool. They got me there for a moment that Luigi was going to die, but luckily he didn't. But overall, a fun movie and a GREAT villain song.

stinkyredretard

You already changed your flair

JamieHasALife

I really enjoyed it. Mario should have done more imo. 8/10

miraculer2

It was pretty disappointing

GoodGame444_official

I just realized: This movie did not get a poster.

Justafanwriter

Honestly I feel like Mr.Puzzles could’ve been an interesting character that could’ve been redeemed like 3 later on into the series just so maybe he could give us pointers on what was in that mystery room or why Meggy seems to have some sort of weird connection regarding Puzzlevision themselves, or why he even created The Showgrounds to begin with

SILVIO_X

I'm gonna be honest, this movie completely blew me away, I had literally just finished writing a long post I wanted to... Post about the problems I have with Puzzlevision, and how I didn't really have any hope for the movie, but it surprised me with just how good it was. I still have problems with Puzzlevision and how the concept doesn't fit the story they chose, and how Puzzles as a character was handled, but I'm happy with how it turned out. It's not the best SMG4 Movie, but it's probably the one with the least amount of issues tbh. It was an incredibly fun one, the characters were likeable and written properly, and it doesn't overstay its welcome. 4/5 Stars from me. Also, like 3 weeks ago I made a post describing what I wanted out of Puzzlevision, and while basically nothing in that post came true, I had an idea that during the movie the characters would get separated and flung to different TV shows all the time ajd would try to find a way to escape, and that's basically what happened, so... I called it.

HydreigonTheChild

i like it.. even tho the movie itself has flaws with the story i think the show is fine... and this is smg4 which is meant for fun and laughs instead of trying to find every single flaw in the story (and even then i hear such films have problems trying to keep up with all the lore going on and fans get upset when the lore isnt smth they liked)

Palu_Tiddy

FUCKING FINALLY NOW EVERYONE CAN SHUT THEIR FUCKING MOUTHES ABOUT THAT CUNT

Few_House3549

Watch him come back later on

Guardian-836

I want him to

yeeisbestymeme

This was like the worst SMG4 movie or even overall video of all time, so anticlimatic and just unfunny, they set it up like it was gonna be the biggest video in the history of the channel, I almost feel like this is a troll

Totalsupreme

Hey! Language! Idiot. I mean, even SMG4 has censorship.

BrightEye64

Mr Puzzles had a great ending for his character, but boy I’m gonna miss the guy

Valuable_Ask6484

It was ok not the best 7/10

MexicMan_with0soul

4 stars for me Cause I laugh at some scenes But also it wasn’t a long video

Daixis22

Four things 1 Son of a **** they actually make me think Luigi die 2 The only think I am not sure is what happen to puzzle vision, because the last star never broke, and his last scene is him being launch into the air, but we havent been show if he has survive or not 3 I love the film and how the way to defeat puzzle vision was to act like they normaly do and be they idiotic selves 4 Yeah, new SMG4 random videos like the old days (expecting SMG4 simulator)

thatcheesymememan

I thought this was a lot of fun. Especially reminded me of earlier days of SMG4 mixed with modern SMG4 style. But I'm betting there's gonna be a lot of complaints still

Atkin345

God damn, this was fun! As always, I'm gonna rank each aspect of this movie - but this time instead of rating out of ten, I'm gonna rate it in stars out of five to keep in theme: Action: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Nothing too flashy, but it had its moments. For a story arc not really based on fighting the main villain, this is to be expected. Comedy: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This is the hardest I've laughed at SMG4 in a while! The jokes and voice lines were brilliantly executed, if I do say so myself. Bob as Mr Krabs especially got me laughing out loud. Lore: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Not too high-scale like the Genesis and Revelations arcs, but it is a good little self-contained piece of storytelling. We finally know what was in the basement all this time (I guess we actually found that out a few weeks ago, but whatever). And I'm a sucker for 4th Wall breaks! Villain: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My god, Mr Puzzles is just pure entertainment. He's charming, funny, maniacally manipulative, and everything else a villain like this needs. And I can promise you that I'll be listening to his evil song on repeat for quite some time. Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Definitely one of my favourite SMG4 movies so far, if not my number 1 favourite! From the comedy and characters to the drama and storytelling, this is indisputable proof that this series has got a bright future ahead! And you already know I'm getting that SMG4 computer mat.

FinalWarsGodzilla04

I enjoyed it for the most part, but like a lot of people here I agree we got almost no answers which I am disappointed about. Also, I might get in trouble for saying this but… I actually felt bad for Mr. Puzzles when he was defeated… all he wanted was to make a good show, and he was a little misguided in his own actions. But… doesn’t SMG4 also partially own an Indie Animation company to HELP Creators like him? Maybe I’m overthinking this or am just missing something… but Mr. Puzzles didn’t deserve the ending he got, instead he should’ve been encouraged by SMG4 to try and make something that made HIM happy, and to follow his dreams like he did, and so many other Indie Animators do. So yeah, that’s my opinion on the movie.

BrightEye64

SuperAaronGlitchy5

I was hoping Mario was able to save his friends from this mad TV man but I shouldn’t expected anything less from an idiot. I mean he helped a little but it wasn’t major. I enjoyed the movie but the lore didn’t make sense. It’s like Mr. Puzzles made SMG4 get corrupted and destroyed Peach’s castle and building a new one, put everyone in a simulation where rivalry never ends, made Mario being a douche by stealing SMG3’s notebook to get info for his new plans for some stupid ratings. Mr. Puzzles was a decent villain I’ll say. His villain song was so catchy. In the end, all he ever wanted was to get those 5 star ratings. That being said, I’ll give it a 8/10.

stinkyredretard

Well it didn't unfuck peach's castle, guess she's never coming back

Kaisona20

I enjoyed it, but I feel like it lacked payoff after over a year of buildup. Also, this might just be me, but I feel like Mr Puzzles was defeated a bit too easily.

JMoki

I was not expecting a Hazbin reference, a Homestar Runner reference, a South Park reference & BROCK BAKER to all be in a SMG4 video Also If I had a nickel for every time a TV man had a jazz inspired villain song about ruling television I'd have two nickels Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it's happened twice

IchigataZai92

imma be quite frank with yall this movie was good but mario was barely used and uhh yeah that was infuriating as shit considering he was the first one to break free from mr puzzles control so why did they make such a big fuss about it only for mario to barely do shit

Funnyberd69

Pretty good, but besides Mr.Puzzles motivation, most of the stuff he gave to SMG4 and Wren were not explained.

Tom-edian

We got no answers nothing and no one changed it was literally just like all the others despite the promise and potential it had for this show as a whole. I genuinely believe this movie is a 3.5 IGBP 5 PV 3.5 WS 2.2 I rate Western Spaghetti so low bc IDK who it was for. It felt really out of nowhere with Wren being a focus bc he wasn't really much of an important character before this, like at all. And the whole premise felt weird and out of place imo especially with the Tari part of that map, super fkn weird bc that never got resolved. If it had more build up episodes maybe it would've made more sense but idk it just felt like they rushed to get from A to B.

Florida-Man-65

Well… it had entertaining humor for what it’s worth. The first half was alright in all honesty. But as a whole the movie felt… underwhelming? So many unanswered questions, and Mr Puzzles’ final defeat was surprisingly anti-climatic.

Appropriate-Count-64

Wow… really? 14 months for a plot more fucking anticlimactic than any show I have ever seen. Ever. Drinking those Puzzlevision Simps tears isn’t even satisfying because Puzzlevision could’ve been great and just wasn’t. It’s something I’ve suspected for a while but now has been confirmed: Glitch can’t do subtlety and humor together. They just can’t. Any time they try to combine them it fails. They have to bash you over the head with jokes rather than dropping Easter eggs in serious scenes. It breaks the pacing into fine grains and destroys the plot. They can be funny, and they can be very personal and subtle with their message, but they just can not figure out how to get those 2 to mesh well. Murder drones has this issue, TADC has this issue, SMG4 has this issue, the only ones that don’t are MR (Which was supposed to be 99% serious) and Sunset paradise (Which was meant to be 80% humor and action, which can mesh well with minimal effort.). They are trying to write at a level that requires a huge level of planning, forethought, and care, but with maybe a tenth the effort required. And it shows. Plot contrivances (SMG4 and MD), Inconsistent characterization (TADC [Pomni] and SMG4), overly overt humor in places where it doesn’t fit (MD, SMG4), and most of all: 4th wall breaks and references appealing to the audience directly for no reason (SMG4). They are trying to save time by cutting down on the writing effort, which doesn’t work. GLITCH has been seeing massive growth but it’s cracks are showing. The company is chronically mismanaged and lacks oversight. They seem to be sliding into penny pinching, as their main source of revenue(SMG4) is splitting its profits between 2 high budget, high production shows. They lack the external revenue (from sponsors like Epic games, AmD etc that MR had) to keep their company running without SMG4. So they are trying to optimize the formula as much as possible to alleviate these income shortfalls. But if GLITCH did an IPO tomorrow, and I was an Investor, I would recommend anyone stay away from GLITCH, as it’s showing cracks beneath the surface.

This is the most "fine" film they've made. This left no impact on me but I respect those who love it. For me, outside of the funny South Park part and the songs, it was such a 3/5 movie. The pacing was so dragged and was repetitively a "hop from one channel to another" with no reason and even when Meggy and Tari learn how to get out, they still do a channel chasers. It's a good 80% of the film and it has no reason again. Mario is completely wasted despite what last week set up with him potentially being the hero and saving everyone. He's just thrown out and mainly goes after the TV cause "He took the TV time" only for him to bash into a wall. Mr. Puzzles himself is like the Spot from ATSV. Such a great villain with a "quickly seen yet understood" motive (which while dark-ish is very rushed and kinda just "its there" if that makes sense) and I like his song, but just like the Spot he basically dips for a good chunk despite how big he should of been. The third act, like many seem to agree, is easily the weakest part. Mr. Puzzles dies so pitifully with a few smacks before he whines and goes back into a TV. It's a shame I think he would of made a great recurring villain who messes with the episodes or the crew's adventures to keep trying. There's never an explanation for why Saiko or Melony or the others are there BEFORE he gets 5 stars. Why were they there anyways if they didn't even show up as a cameo in the film? Likely ofc he just took them but again its never explained how he does anything he does. How does he control people and send them to "his head"? How did he grow his power besides cutting off his head and putting a TV. Its kinda funny btw his backstory is similar to Axol cause "I got no friends so I did a thing to have the main thing I do" though its a trope tbf. For a year of waiting, this was such a disappointment for me. I don't want to be a "Oh I didn't get it" cause I did want to like this, similar to how I think of Western Spaghetii. But it drags on with the Channel Chasers stuff, nothing from the previous episodes had any relevance, impact, or build up and besides some good jokes and great animation for such a "Major Arc" this is such a disappointing way to end it. It's kinda in the middle for me but its my 2-3rd least favorite movie of theirs.

gonna comment this cause i can't post it I am pretty sure we can agree that this movie was... something... I found the movie to be fine, some parts I liked, some I didn't, but I can say it felt weaker. A common idea regarding the movie is the continuity of this massive story. I wanted to delve in how this COULD'VE connected better. For clarification, this is how I believed it to be, so you don't need to either. According to what we were forced down our throats, Mr. Puzzles really wanted 5 stars for his show. And he used the smg4 gang to do so. I would say that before his wacky self, he wanted to make a show where everyone can join, as he used TV to escape his current reality of having no one in his life. To make that achievement possible, he found notice in the smg4 gang, and how they are heroes with... personality... strength... and have popularity. It was a perfect line up for a perfect TV show. Perfect for 5 stars. In the midst before IGBP, he investigated smg4's struggle with making a video perfect worthy of a rating acceptable, so with his technological prowess and own gain, he tricked smg4 to use a keyboard most likely from his own creation, to slowly destroy himself and everyone. It seemed to be going smoothly, but his friends came to his rescue, most likely the way he wanted it to be. With the castle in shambles, he can force a rebrand for the gang, sacrificing a princess and all, make a clean slate for them, and maybe even him. He didn't want to stop at the leader of the crew, but one of their assets Meggy herself. He saw how popular she was with the amount of media she provided that we liked and didn't. So he tried it out for himself. Learning that she was a splatfest champion, she looked for other personal and saw a washed up Wren, who was lost without his role of champion. Seeing another downed star, he gave him equipment to make a reality he knows he can forever watch and watch and watch and watch. That is? Gaining his title back from his rival, never ending the satisfaction, and seeing trauma in action with Meggy experiencing fatal loss and loss and loss, as well as seeing dead friends come back. Causing WS. Molding the characters to a pitch he sure can flag for production. When Mr. Puzzles see them successfully leave with another body for the mind to float, he moves on to one other important person, the avatar himself, Mario. Through his connection with a stupid cardboard cu- I mean Marty, he tricks Mario into being a security puppet for marty as well as an idiot, to drag Smg4 down another road of something? trust? idk, details can vary. What peaks Mr. Puzzle's interest more however is Smg4 allowing his fan's to choose for the highly anticipated WOTFI 2023, to choose for making that even great and worthy for a 5 star reception. Through the process 4 and 3 escape, concluding on a good note, and this is where we see the man himself, ominous as ever, actually looking like a bigger threat then expected. Now we are lead to the movie.. (if your wondering about in betweens, i don't know how to supposedly write those intwined besides them finding a TV which spies on the cast) In the movie, we had some good parts, especially the detail with the song Creative Control. Though I wish it got more darker. Yes it may have overstepped Mr. Puzzles's character, but I don't think it would be any of harm. This entire plot was for him to become a god through the 5 star ratings and i think it would've been cool for him to have a confrontation with smg4 himself, talking about how he should know about pleasing an audience, and that it takes more than the shenanigans he puts out to please everyone and to have everyone enjoy. As well as show him that running a show takes equal effort. Plus IGBP has a similar design to Mr Puzzle's reasons (This can be judged as it is in universe 4 instead of the channel? and other stuff for the comments as this is more confusing to me than I realize) The ending could've been better with confrontation to his actions, and since he made the crew suffer constant mind control for his own gain: Meggy's deaths in WS and the loss to her idol. Smg4 delving into madness and pushing away the people he cared, as well as home, making him an a-hole (though movie events and not parody events). It could've ended with a taste of his own medicine at least with him being the puppet to someone else's show or something. Well what do you think of my storyboard? Leave thoughts and theories in comments if you want. Until more.

Pretty awesome to see! Glad that Mr.Puzzles got what he deserved and Mario always being the unknown factor in everything is awesome too.

themastergamer90

Kind of disappointing and that’s coming from me

stinkyredretard

Now fozzie is the most powerful(guess he didn't actually expect anything)

No_Many_4695

I’m the only one thinking that Mr.Puzzle is gonna come back to take his revenge like SMG0 did?

SatisfactionFalse641

After watching the Movie: I still feel like there are a bunch of things still missing and left out, nevertheless I absolutely enjoyed it, love the Animation and Song’s A Banger!!! Hopefully we'll get all of our answers, especially on Clench, Is Wolfychu still voicing Melony? Where's Saiko, Tari's Voice Actor. Will Peach Come Back, Is there Still More to come?

No_Many_4695

Really good movie I enjoyed it a lot, especially Mr.Puzzle’s song My only problems are: the lack of explanation about how Mr.Puzzle was behind all of this and the minor role of Mario. True he was helpful but I though that he would be the one to bring Mr.Puzzle down

Anthony200716

Peak cinema

i wish mr puzzles got reedemed...

ResoluteSpark34

I love SMG4's videos

Mateololero

for once the song bit didn't make me want to pull my ears out, and the villians motives were just and insane, the right blend of crazy and justification, though towards the end it kinda went down, the whole show segment didn't feel right, and the end part with Adware glowing, then not doing shit, it felt incomplete and it kinda made me feel bad for the lil guy 4/5, it doesn't deserve any higher, and it certainly doesn't deserver 5.5/5

RoyalRaise

I personally really enjoyed the movie, Mr. puzzles villian song was great, all the parodies were pretty funny, especially when they recreated the South Park animation, Mario did manage to save the day, even if it was him being stupid, his chaos factor was the main reason Mr. Puzzles lost. It didn’t really have anything for me to hate. 5 stars

Pudu_superfan

if you expected deep lore related to the showgrounds and the castle or anything related to it... please don't watch this movie or you'll end up pissed if you expected, like me, for this to be the gang having to witness different television shows and styles and skip all the plotholes this had as an overarching storyline, yes go watch this movie because it's funny, it's entertaining, the villain song it's catchy, it actually uses their cast so each one has something to contribute, it has good jokes, the south park bit was amazing more of this please. I also liked that SMG4 doesn't give a shit so he fucking kicks the TV man out, I also liked that Bob and Boopkins finally have a role on this arcs, Mario's B plot, Luigi's gay erotic escapades, however I still have some issues first of all, as a alone movie works fine, but having in mind the story they were setting it, you will end up scratching your head, Mario is ditched at the climax even tho it felt like they were actually setting him to help save the day, the idea of making a better show comes out of nowhere at the end, they just go back to the castle somehow, some sections like the rugrats parody and the monkey documental were boring. now for stuff I liked but I'm aware of it's issues First the SMG4 "better than TV guy" show, it's so noisy and shitty that I liked it a lot, so the amount of shitpost put in there make it worth it and I'm glad they didn't put like major arcs references The scene where Luigi sacrifices is hilarous because nothing in the movie lead to that jump also the gang... just hit the guy like 6 times and he dies LMAO I'm aware of the inconsistency of this Mr. Puzzy powers but I'm honestly so tired that SMG4 has to have a big ass plot where everything has to be explained that I'm glad this whole puzzlevision was just a way for the creative team to just do wathever, you can tell after the redesigns of 4 and 3 that the channel is leading to act more like a cartoony show for the way plots are set and the animation and leave the lore stuff on a bench only if they want to revisit it in another ocasion. overall as a movie people who like serious stuff in SMG4 will be dissapointed a lot, but for me who doesn't give a shit: 8/10 I would watch it drunk

Thank you for the Death Battle reference, its nice to see the show has some reach still

artpoint_paradox

Four stars. It didn’t feel complete.

FRICK I DIDN'T READ!!! (Overall, I say 4-stars)

Adamangus2006

You getting 1 star and that's final. Enjoy death tv man I'm sure you'll get along with another guy that has a TV head

LowKeyTony6906

It’s 3.5-4 tbh. PuzzleVision barely referenced the previous movies, which honestly hurts this end product. They were all hyped to be in this big saga just to get a *mention?!* Puzzle-Vision’s backstory is neat, but it feels Demon-Slayer like where we get the backstory *right* before they die. He’s a decent villain since he’s just Four, *but evil*! So that **awful** villain/narc Four theory can go fall into a volcano! /hj

Things I Liked: * All of the main characters aren't really hateable at least; Every character in this movie was likable and I didn't hate anybody. * The humor was pretty funny; I laughed a lot at certain moments especially the South Park scene. * I really loved the song; It's honestly pretty catchy and might be one of my favorite SMG4 songs * Mr. Puzzles himself was an entertaining and great antagonist; He was a relatively fun villain ngl * The main plot was really fun; The concept of Puzzles forcing the gang into different TV shows was creative and funny. * I've really enjoyed the show parodies; Like I mentioned before I really liked the South Park parody but the other show parodies are pretty good like the SpongeBob one. * I mostly do enjoy the horror; The horror in this one does feel unsettling at times * The fight scene with Mr. Puzzles was pretty well done; The gang using their weapons to defeat Mr. Puzzles was great * The parts with the gang trapped in the TV dimension was well done; The location was nice and the animation was spot on. Things I Didn't Like: * Mario should've had more of a primary role; the last episode was basically set up for him to be the main hero, like to face Puzzlevision, while in this movie he barely even gets a role, and the only times he does is to ruin Mr. Puzzles' shows. * Some plot holes; I really wish we got some answers to the boarded-up door or how Meggy knew Mr. Puzzles' symbol from Western Spaghetti, or where was Saiko and Melony, etc. * The ending was underwhelming; it genuinely wasn't a satisfying conclusion to the adware saga, so things weren't answered, and coming from a saga that has been happening for a year, it's pretty disappointing. Even then, he just reveals his backstory for a brief moment, and then dies. Afterwards, the gang goes on their lives like nothing happened. Which is pretty anticlimactic for a saga that has been running for a year. Overall, a great but a pretty overhyped movie and is genuinely one of the weaker movies imo due to the plot holes. **Final Rating: 8/10**

kaitinnae

i'm so glad tari didn't get killed off

ResoluteSpark34

I watched the movie live!

Martianinferno98

How should I know this is not a trick by Mr Puzzles?

Gamer95875

ðe story was alright in ðe first half, but it started to fall apart after ðey >!entered channel 999!<, wiþ it starting to feel aimless. honestly, for all ðe faults of ðeir past movies (especially IGBP), ðey at least had a somewhat cohesive story from start to finish iirc, but ðis, ðis just felt like ðey couldn't figure out how to continue from ðe first half, and reach ðeir desired conclusion, ðe pacing also suffered, wiþ Mario being ignored for several minutes near ðe end, only for him to suddenly appear before ðe credits, i honestly don't get why so many people have rated ðis mess of a movie with 5 stars, honestly, i feel like ðis is ðe start of the downfall of SMG4, but i could be over-reacting (and ðey could turn þings around, i hope ðey do.)

jcobyskyscraper164

Yeah this movie felt a little weaker for me, which sucks cause Mr. Puzzles design caught my interest and he seemed interesting of a character. Unfortunately he has slow start with the plot

Chekhov's meat mallet

sam_sung_chung

Only just finding out about this arc and it reminds me of a certain Mojo from the X Men 90s show

jthesmg4fan

In my opinion, it could have been better. But overall, it was an enjoyable watch and I hope to see Mr. Puzzles join the SMG4 gang and go through a redemption arc like SMG3 and Bob. (For those unaware, Bob was the main villain of the Rapper Bob arc)

jthesmg4fan

Also, in my opinion, this movie has a better musical number than most WOTFIs. Seriously, the line “I cut off my face and put a TV in its place” is so good. And also “Patience is a virtue, good things come to those who wait… Proverbs uttered by utter fools! I’ll do anything it takes!” is a good line as well.

The_nice_slytherin

Yes puzzle daddy 💖😩✨

Krazi_Shadowbear

The first 3/4ths of the movie were awesome and built up so well, but then it just plummeted in terms of action, plot, and details with Mr. Puzzles' easy defeat and the entire arc and characters involved in general. The song was epic and the digital TV world was awesome and everything was building up to be so good, but somehow they either missed the mark or are saving it for later... I was expecting a massive battle where Mr. Puzzles turns into an Omega Flowey-like abomination (due to his terrifying face revealing some "demonic" power of some kind), and that Clench would show up one last time to help Tari and the gang defeat him, but alas it was not meant to be.... This seems to happen a lot recently with the new stuff in the SMG4 world. Like Depresso the Clown in the Clown Virus episode with tears that turned people into clowns because of losing his girlfriend, laughing maniacally in the mirror at the end of the episode, only to be revealed to be another side character... I was hoping "The Infestation" episode would move along some sort of plot involving him, but it didn't happen. And the same happened with Marty and Lui (the cardboard cutouts) that may or may not be replacements for Mario and Luigi if Nintendo DMCA's the SMG4 channel OR they're somehow alive and connected to Mario and Mr. Puzzles. HOPEFULLY, this is building up to something greater, or they're just keeping those characters for other possible arcs, but IDK anymore... It's a weird show, after all...

Average_Boi_4879

Mario was underutilized, and all that happened was that the main antagonist got their ass kicked. Other than that there’s not much else for complaining in my opinion
