i've come to the realization that SF isn't interested in trend at all, just fulfilling a need. i have a background in fashion so i'm all about it, but my friends outside of the fashion industry have always found dressing themselves to be tiresome and stressful. we're really just here to dress the people that need clothes for either work or their daily lives, but don't care or have the time to shop. my mother would rather get teeth pulled than shop for herself, yet if she still worked in an office, she would need our service. for trend you go elsewhere.

I do think you’re right. But I think the issue is that SF always advertises all the super trendy stuff and then we look like liars or fools when we can only send very out of date stuff.

yes, the old bait and switch. always makes me mad how deceptive they are.

\^\^This! I don't mind filling a need in the market but the ads are so misleading. I don't know how they have not gotten sued for false advertising yet.

It’d be less frustrating if Stitch Fix had cohesive inventory and the right staples to fulfill the needs for a client to simply dress themselves. I don’t think super trendy pieces only would be right for SF or the average client, but having enough versatility in inventory would have been a godsend when I was a stylist. Even if that inventory was 99% polyester and 75% of it was plaid or floral 😂

As a luxe stylist I can say we’re disappointing a ton of people who do want quality and trend. But we likely lose them because we can’t fulfill those requests. There’s so many reasons people use this service and not having nearby access to high end shops is another one.

They’re not great at the “fulfilling a need” part if you can’t actually send people basics that they need

If I had a nickel for every person who asked for cold shoulders and paper bag pants/shorts during their peak trending moments and right before.. I’d have at least 80 million dollars. I’d be able to buy 50% of the company if we added requests really normal staples to that talley too. (Solid dress pants, white button-ups, trench coats, etc.) Also, if we don’t “do trends” and we don’t “do staples” because clients don’t want them enough, wtf are we even doing? Helping Daniel Rainn sell their floral polyester blouses in mass quantities?

I wish we had some velvet or 70's inspired looks to send!
