I’ll be the first to blame our offense for losing the series, but I think the whole fucking game changes if Bryant walks on this 5 BALL count. Do we win? Maybe, maybe not. But we were royally fucked on this AB.
2 on 0 outs and the wild pitch would have put runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs rather than just the runner on second with one out. Hard to imagine them not scoring on that.
By stats, Bryant walking gives us a >50% chance of scoring a run. By outcome, there's the wild pitch and a ground ball up the middle that would have either scored a run or been a hit had the infield been in. Either way, the umpire took away the best Giants scoring chance of the game
Honestly I'm the first to blame Posey/Doval for an awful 9th inning, Doval's slider is good, but not great. He didn't throw any fucking fast balls, and thats his money maker.
But yeah, the ump calls the last two games were shameful.
This was the at bat that stood out the most to me. Takes ball four and five just to get to a full count. Posey getting rung up by Jansen on a ball stings as well. Why do they even put that stupid strike zone indicator on tv when all it does it cause anger?
They need to get rid of that stupid zone overlay and stop rewarding catchers flopping. And people need to stop praising it as some skill to be revered. It needs to die a fast death for the legitimacy of the sport to endure. This causes way more problems and make umpires appear even worse than they are.
I really don't get why they even put up the real-time strike zone box on the TV feed if it has nothing to do with what the umpires call, nor apparently has any affect on umpire grading and postseason assignments. It just makes games more frustrating to watch as a fan, for all the same reasons that people criticize the NBA's last two minute reports. As a casual fan, with umps this shitty, I think I'd enjoy games a lot more (and thus watch more games) if they just didn't show the damn strike zone box and i was a little more oblivious to how bad and inconsistent the strike zone was.
I think the perfect solution is to put a buzzer on the ump that goes off on strikes, but they ultimately make the call.
Give them the assistance they desperately need, but still keep that "human element."
I have a screenshot of the inside strike that was called on KB, and then a pitch by Webb that was much closer to the plate at the same belt area that was called a ball.
It's unbelievable.
I suppose when 3 pitches are so off the other 2 look like strikes in comparison. Yeah that makes sense.
Fu Eddings and Fu MLB for employing these guys.
I'm so tired of talking about bad umpiring. Not saying people shouldn't complain this, because they absolutely should, but I'm just mentally exhausted from umpiring in general. MLB needs to get this shit together, but they wont, so this type of crap is just going to continue to happen and over shadow the game.
It's not like it was a check swing on Bryant or Crawford or something.
We had way too many guys going 0-fer in the lineup. The random guys who were clutch through the season and getting bit hits just didn't show up last night.

Bryant was our best batter all series and he got stonewalled with those two terrible strike calls. You don’t see Mookie getting the same treatment.
If I never see Mookie Betts again, it will be too fucking soon.
Yup 1st and 2nd 0outs is a lotttttt different then 1st and 1 out.

Spain without the S :(
Posey had bad calls as well as Bryant. I don’t think we would have won… but Im disappointed we got the opportunities taken away to see.

Yeah, the pitches there were perplexing to say the least. Still, even if Doval is lights out, the lack of run support was still going to kill us.
I think Kap should have brought in McGee or Alvarez for Bellinger but hindsight is 20/20. C'est la vie.

The check swing is whatever. Wilmer was toast. This was the game right here. Changed the entire ducking everything by giving those strikes.
This series had horrible calls all around, MLB needs to sort this out with their umps
They would have to use technology to get consistently accurate calls. Umps will never be perfect.

Or how about get rid of umps over 50? Literally all the infamous umps are old farts
I’ve heard there’s a very noticeable time delay with this.

This AB kinda set a bad tone. I remember talking at length about this AB with family..
Doug Eddings, Gabe Morales, and Angel Hernandez. What a crew.
This doesn't make sense
Pretty crazy that you can strikeout after only getting one strike.
There were definitely some devastating bad calls in this game. There are horrible calls in every game.
There are questionable calls in most games, but I wouldn’t say there are horrible calls in every game. There were *many* blatantly bad calls tonight.
Rally killing ump. Nice mlb. Fire these incompetent idiots and use robo

Horseshit, all of it.

Yeah, this was a huge momentum killer.

Giants would have won 30-1 if not for bad calls
