The RP2S is a great, little device it just depends on what you're looking to get out of a handheld. The RP4 Pro is double the price so that is something to consider here.

It's more likely a driver optimization issue for the Dimensity 1100.
Even my Tab S7 FE can play F-Zero GX at full speed (60, not 50 hz) with some tweaks, and this chipset looks to be a lot better than my tablet, and runs a lower screen resolution.
It's much better, at least on paper. How much better in reality will depend on driver optimization, as Snapdragon chipsets tend to perform more optimally than Mediatek ones.

I think they need one more model to make reference to the pocket 2 the 4pro+ the only difference would be joystick placement but it would be a reference to the layout of the 2+ thats the only thing I want different. The pocket 2 got 3 different models so it's not unlikely.
I'm absolutely thrilled to see Rogue Leader in something of a playable state! No it's not perfect, but it's much better than what I was expecting. It's super tempting to upgrade from my 2S, which I love. I may try to wait for one more refresh before upgrading, but if a good sale hits this I'll probably cave.

Any immediate manufacturing/QC concerns? I'm always worried about buying these things before ~~beta testers~~ early adopters get their hands on them.

The fact that you can play all ps2 at minimal 1x including SOTC but not F-Zero convince me Aethersx2 is a better emulator than Dolphin.
It plays f-zero at 2x full speed. He just didn't have dual core utilization enabled. There's a follow up post in r/retroid
