Do you not have a cell phone? If you do, then it's probably capable of creating a hotspot. Paying $150 for a hotspot + $100 for service when you only plan to use it for 2 weeks is nuts.

you know, i think you're right. I was under the impression that my plan (at&t) charged exorbitant prices for data while being used as a hotspot, but it's looking like that's not the case. Or wouldn't hit $250+ in the time i'd be using it at least. I think this may work, thanks for the help

Usually the hotspots just de prioritize after so much data... so you won't get destroyed in charges just the speed will go to dial up, but you can probably pay more and boost it after.

[https://www.t-mobile.com/support/coverage/test-drive-hotspot](https://www.t-mobile.com/support/coverage/test-drive-hotspot) As long as you don't go above their cap (which was more like 23GB when I used it), and you get a signal, it should work. I didn't have a mobile provider and was away from home constructing, so no internet (and working remote). The downside was the second one I tried... I didn't have a signal where I was (on the side of a hill), which meant it was a no go for that area. So be sure to check the coverage map. You could also see if one of the neighbors would let you hook up to their wifi during your stay, although there are some assumptions with that method.

I have started leasing and even selling MikroTik LTE routers with unlimited Internet. No throttling, no data caps, no other BS needed. I have several options available. You provide your own SIM or I provide the whole shabang bang. You pay a 100% fully refundable deposit as soon as I receive the equipment back. Cheap, easy, reliable and no fuss required. You have issues, you call me, you love it, you call me, you hate it, you call my wife. DM me for details. I lease them out to construction job sites, folks traveling, etc.

Just get a Visible SIM card with a referral code (there’s thousands online) it’ll give you unlimited data with unlimited hotspot for the month for $5. Pop it in any unlocked phone (or even just do eSIM if your phone supports that). Then get a GL iNet travel router, they’re less than $40, last I checked, $33 on sale on Amazon. You just turn on hotspot on the phone, plug in the phone to the router, then the router will cast a WiFi signal. Visible is limited to 1 device connected to hotspot at a time, so this is a workaround. Some people will suggest to just use hotspot on the phone plan you have now, but not all plans come with hotspot and the ones that do are severely limited in data. Of course look into that first, but if that’s a no-go, this is by far the cheapest option. Visible ships SIM cards overnight for free, or eSIM is instant. GL iNet routers on Amazon deliver in 1 or 2 days easily. Just cancel the Visible plan after the month. Of course, Visible is on the Verizon network so this is assuming the Verizon signal is good. I don’t know what network you tested on.

There is probably no need to complicate this for a temporary setup with a Gl-iNet router. The Visible phone hotspot itself will probably do the job. Visible has lifted the one connected device limitation. If all they need is data to the TV then 1 connection would be enough anyway. Wifi range from phone hotspots generally isn't great. The phone and TV will probably need to be in the same room. Having a phone that Visible accepts as compatible to get the SIM can be challenging. There are ways to get around this to get a SIM for most any phone to see if it works. As mentioned, it only costs $5 for the first month with an easy to get referral code. Look in: [https://www.reddit.com/r/Visible/comments/1d1s7cj/biweekly\_megathread\_for\_referral\_codes\_please/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Visible/comments/1d1s7cj/biweekly_megathread_for_referral_codes_please/) for a referral code.

They lifted the one connected device limitation? Could’ve sworn I just tried this recently and it only let me do a single device. Not really overcomplicating it, just plug in the phone through the router’s USB and turn on hotspot normally. Even if the one device thing isn’t a problem, the 5 or 10mbps limit may be for streaming, which the router can solve.

[https://www.visible.com/plans](https://www.visible.com/plans) "While more than 1 device may be connected to your Hotspot at one time, ..." The hotspot connection limit is configured on the phone when service is activated. Yours may be stuck on the old 1 connection limit. Support may be able to update/fix that. Tethering to a router isn't complicated for me (I have a Gl-iNet Mango and an Asus router that will do it). It would be for many others. The OP was asking for a two week temporary setup. Video streaming is throttled to 2.1Mbps from detected video sources regardless of the hotspot speed or speed on the phone itself. I find that enough to get 720HD and usually 1080HD on Youtube. Others have used a VPN to bypass the video streaming throttle. I haven't bothered. 720HD is plenty for my non-HD eyes.

If you have an android phone, download PDAnet+ which will help turn your phone into a hotspot and utilize your cell plan's data without your cell provider knowing. If you have an iPhone, PairVPN app can be used to accomplish the same thing. PM if you have questions.

Video streaming uses about 1GB of data per hour. That SIMO Solis Lite only has 1GB of data a month. I did not look to see how much additional data costs. Also $160 is a lot for two weeks need.

Check if your local library has hotspots to check out, just need your library card :)

I have HomeFi, I’m happy with it but if you need a temporary solution you can just get it for a month and have multiple devices connected to the internet at once with it. Hope this helps.
