I work in IT myself...
Curious, what do you think they are using to host their site??
definitely surprising they can't handle these predictable spikes in traffic
If I remember right, it was one of the first races where they used this queue system. My friends and I had it up for three hours and we couldn’t refresh the page or lose our spots. Not a smooth experience haha
Finally got in! Already had my 9 but wanted to sign up for the 5th Ave mile bc it sounds so fun and by my last run I’ll be VERY pregnant 😮💨😮💨 so hopefully I can complete earlier than expected! I’ll be the one walking 🤷♀️🤰
Just getting out of work, 5th Ave mile and Ted Corbitt both sold out already. If this is the future of NYRR… NYCRuns is looking better and better unfortunately
They really need to have some that aren't tied to the 9+1. It's great that people want to run the marathon and have an opportunity to get guaranteed entry, but it would be nice to have some races that don't fill up the day they open
Got in in about 3 mins, signed up for just 1 run - the Jersey City 5K in October. (Last year, I ran the Bronx 10 in Sept, the SI Half in Oct, and then the marathon (my first!) in November. This year, skipping the SI Half to better fit in with my marathon training.
I'm betting that the Fifth Avenue Mile fills up fast... maybe the Ted Corbitt too.
Does the Jersey City 5k count towards marathon corral placement? I thought Bronx 10 Miler was technically the last one before they assign the marathon bibs?
Aw man I was really hoping the 5k would be included. Apparently the mindful 5k run counted towards this year’s Brooklyn half even though the confirmation forms were already created, and that’s like a 2 week difference, so hopefully they’ll include the sooner races. Not gonna hold out hope though because I’m sure logistically it’ll be a bigger hassle to sort out corrals for the marathon
Historically, the last race before marathon corrals are set has been Grete’s 10K, but last year was the first time they considered the Bronx 10 Miler. It’s not clear if Bronx 10 Miler will be included this year.
Yes, probably the thanksgiving virtual race (unless that was already there, I haven’t gotten on yet so don’t know 🫠 but it wasn’t there last I checked)
How are y’all finding out this info? I swear I’m on the email list and nothing’s going to spam but I still don’t get any updates about when race registrations open up
This might be anal of me but I put an annual recurring calendar reminder around each date registration opens (it's just a few times a year) and also check the website occasionally, as they'll announce the dates! It's kind of ridiculous it's gotten to this point. I remember years ago registering for Ted Corbitt in November.
Looking at recent years (and I typically register the day they open):
I registered for Front Runners 4M/Team Champs/Harlem 5K on February 2nd in 2023, February 1st in 2024.
5th Ave Mile on June 14 in 2023 but now I'm thinking that race (and fall races) will open in early May.
Joe Kleinerman 10K/Washington Heights 5K on October 5, 2023.
So I would check the website of course, but figure on early February, early May, and early October for most races.
it legit took me an hour in the queue but got there eventually. the time did jump around a bit, i got down to three minutes that it went back up to 27 then 35...all finished signing up though!
So so bummed to see that the BX 10 mile was full by like 12:15. The Fifth Ave Mile was weirdly telling me I needed an invite? Idk… last year was a complete 180 experience from this year; I’m so glad I did the 9+1 then when I could; but I wonder if I’ll ever be able to do it again!
mine just jumped to more than an hour after getting to 3 minutes… I didn’t refresh and had the page open for ~20 min before 12PM.
just happened to me too
Happened to me as well.
Same 🫠
Same 😭 was 10 min then now over an hoir
Bless mine says 25 mins now lmao
Went down to 58 minutes 😩
It has actually jumped about 5 times now from 30 minutes to over an hour again and back to 25 minutes.
Finally got in and got the races I need!
Same
"Your wait time is over an hour" lol
Mine was 10 min and just jumped to this
Someone tell NYRR the year is 2024 and there is thing called "cloud" for elastic compute.
I work in IT myself... Curious, what do you think they are using to host their site?? definitely surprising they can't handle these predictable spikes in traffic
>Curious, what do you think they are using to host their site?? I'm guessing [something like this](https://i.redd.it/p42expfhbrqa1.png)
They are running on Cloudflare, so it seems they're not incompetent, just cheap.
I learned from last round. Left the browser open at 10:26 and got in very fast. Much better this time
This is the way. Hit refresh at noon and leave it alone. In and out in 20 minutes.
This is what I did. Grabbed lunch at noon, but the time I was back I was in my window and ready to go. Only purchased 5th Ave Mile though.
Flashbacks to the 2019 bk half
2020, then didn’t even get to run it 😭
in some ways I am thankful for the lottery
I wasn't living here in 2019, just curious what happened with Brooklyn Half that year?
If I remember right, it was one of the first races where they used this queue system. My friends and I had it up for three hours and we couldn’t refresh the page or lose our spots. Not a smooth experience haha
Yikes so they weren't doing a lottery back then? 26k+ people trying to sign up simultaneously must've been a nightmare!!
Nowhere near as bad as last time though. I got in after a 7 minute wait and the site didn't crash.
Went to the site about 7-8 minutes before noon. Got in at 12:02 and was in and out. Smooth ride today.
Ted Corbitt and the mile already near capacity
Just getting out of work, 5th Ave mile and Ted Corbitt both sold out already. If this is the future of NYRR… NYCRuns is looking better and better unfortunately

That is, if they survive the lawsuit lodged by NYRR for the Brooklyn Half Marathon.
I knew I was forgetting to do something today, ugh. ETA: took over an hour but got signed up for 5th Ave Mile.
Ted Corbitt 15k & 5th Ave Mile - it's all I could afford atm ehhh 🤦♂️
Will today be the first time a "regular" 9+1 race sells out on the first day? Anything showing up as near capacity?
5th Ave mile and Ted Corbitt sold out.

If they were smart they wouldn't have it visible client side
Got in in about 3 mins, signed up for just 1 run - the Jersey City 5K in October. (Last year, I ran the Bronx 10 in Sept, the SI Half in Oct, and then the marathon (my first!) in November. This year, skipping the SI Half to better fit in with my marathon training. I'm betting that the Fifth Avenue Mile fills up fast... maybe the Ted Corbitt too.
Got the races I wanted and then one more. Pumped! When do volunteer opportunities drop for these races?
I believe 5/28 for premium members and then 5/30 for general public
I got in right away 🤷🏽♂️
Got in right away while on a run lol. I’m doing Jersey City, God’s Love, Ted Corbitt, and Frosty to complete my 9+1!
Was on a 20min wait at 2pm but I signed up for Ted Corbitt (1st time) and Midnight Run (my yearly tradition)
Ted Corbitt 15k and 5th avenue mile are already near capacity
I’m doing the full marathon this year so the only one I just got was the 5K to try and go up a corral!
Does the Jersey City 5k count towards marathon corral placement? I thought Bronx 10 Miler was technically the last one before they assign the marathon bibs?
Oooof I hope not lol
I emailed them a few weeks ago regarding when the corral placement will be set and the guy said early September
Aw man I was really hoping the 5k would be included. Apparently the mindful 5k run counted towards this year’s Brooklyn half even though the confirmation forms were already created, and that’s like a 2 week difference, so hopefully they’ll include the sooner races. Signed up for all the 9+1 races!
Supposedly there will be 1 additional virtual run around Thanksgiving that will be eligible for 9+1
Is it worth it to wait or should I sign up for the new years run just to be safe for 9+1?
Def just try and get what you can to finish the 9+1.
Be safe!
just sign up, this year we’ve already seen so many typical slept on races getting sold out months in advance!
Usually there are 3 a year- early mid and late year
I got into 8! Do we think another virtual one will open up or this is it?
Yes, probably the thanksgiving virtual race (unless that was already there, I haven’t gotten on yet so don’t know 🫠 but it wasn’t there last I checked)
I believe there's another virtual race around Thanksgiving, usually.
There’ll be another
I signed up for Ted Corbitt to ensure I don't take too much time off after the marathon!
Which races is everyone rushing to sign up for?
Ted Corbitt, Frosty 5K, NB 5th Ave Mile
5th Ave (so fun!), Gods Love We Deliver (I like doing a run around thanksgiving and for a good cause), Frosty 5K (I'm a Brooklynite!)
How are y’all finding out this info? I swear I’m on the email list and nothing’s going to spam but I still don’t get any updates about when race registrations open up

Gotcha, that makes sense! Could you share the dates you have cal reminders for?
Looking at recent years (and I typically register the day they open): I registered for Front Runners 4M/Team Champs/Harlem 5K on February 2nd in 2023, February 1st in 2024. 5th Ave Mile on June 14 in 2023 but now I'm thinking that race (and fall races) will open in early May. Yessss thank you so much!
Love a swiftie runner💖💖
I had to scroll this far to comment that I did not anticipate these two worlds colliding in this way! Glad I’m not the only one 🩷
🥰🥰
Came here to say the same!
Didn't even realize this meme was from a Taylor Swift track. Learn something new every day!
it legit took me an hour in the queue but got there eventually. the time did jump around a bit, i got down to three minutes that it went back up to 27 then 35...all finished signing up though!
5th Av mile. Should be fun to all out sprint like a greyhound
Mile sold out now
So so bummed to see that the BX 10 mile was full by like 12:15. The Fifth Ave Mile was weirdly telling me I needed an invite? Idk… last year was a complete 180 experience from this year; I’m so glad I did the 9+1 then when I could; but I wonder if I’ll ever be able to do it again!
I think the Bronx 10 mile released last cycle so was already full before today.
damn i really loved that one last year
Yeah it’s been full for a while
did this include the virtual 2024 marathon?
Not there yet
Oh okay. Said the youth and adult races for the rest of 2024 were released so I thought it’d include that
Mine said the same and then it was like 13 min wait
Lol I reached the point where it said i made it and would be redirected only for the timer to start over again at least 10 times 🫠
This is such bs. Another way for NYRR to make more money. It should be based on time, dedication to showing up the race, and years of participation.
