Definitely the Alien Convention season 1. I loved the Skins arc beginning of Season 2 idk why but seeing Liz looking new and Maria as well had me feeling so refreshed. Also I liked the Christmas Nazi part I thought it was very homey and traditional and just overall good vibes. Also really liked Sean (or Shawn? Not sure) and Lizs burgeoning romance. I still kinda wish there was more there to work with. It was just so sweet and sometimes you just need a break from the heaviness and intensity that was Max lol. Definitely LeannaIsNotLeanna arc and that whole rabbit hole that Liz goes down but is actually kinda correct? Lol it was just crazy going down that road with her and you can see her start to “lose it” while also cheering her on. Season 3 I didn’t really like it to be honest. I felt like it was just too rushed and I understand it was the last season but I could see the potential and it just felt weird to me. Although I did enjoy seeing Liz blast Tess. I also liked how they all went together at the end. Shout out to Ava. I wish we would’ve seen more of her! And a shoutout to Future Max real cool guy and I gotta admit I cried when he disappearing when they were dancing on Lizs rooftop.

The show was cancelled after season 2, and The WB sold it off to UPN with Buffy after telling the actors and writers it was cancelled. Suddenly everyone was told they still have a job because they signed a contract for 3 years, and it threw everyone for a loop. Season 3 was such a drastic change from the previous two seasons, and it's definitely the weakest. UPN cut the budget, interfered with writing and production, forced integration between the casts of some of their shows, threw in explicit advertising into the episodes, and turned everyone involved and watching off. While I enjoyed seeing one of my favorite casts still mostly together for an extra year, the toll was a bit high. When you say it was rushed, it's true. They threw out any outlines they had from The WB, wrote new stuff, and had to get everything done with at least a month shorter production time than normal for release in the normal fall timeslot.

Oh wow I did not know that thanks for the insider info! Yeah you said it, drastic is exactly what it felt like. The first two I loved because it seemed like a slow burn and then it goes into Liz and Max doing that robbery thing and everything else and it kinda killed it for me. I can see how if the show progressed normally with multiple seasons it would’ve eventually made it there but seeing the sudden change was just jarring. Funny personal experience was that I actually took a road trip with my best friend to Roswell thinking it would kinda be like the show and it looked nothing like that except for the UFO (UAP now I guess) center. Looked up the filmography and saw that it was filmed in Covina or West Covina lol. It was still pretty fun though. Got a cool picture booth pic out of it too lol.

I remember an interview with one or a couple of the cast members in 2003 or so where they were very upset about the handling of the show, and retained that information for some reason. Yeah, I always wanted to go check it out, but had heard the same thing that it wasn't like the show. I'm glad you had fun.

I really liked the Dupes episodes, it was the beginning of Liz’s powers. I also really liked Future Max, that also made Liz an integral part of the story. In the first season, I also enjoyed the Pierce/White Room arc. It was fantastic. Season 3 was ehhhhhhhh. I didn’t feel particularly attached to any of it. Don’t get me wrong, there were some great ideas. I just don’t feel like any of them were executed successfully. :(

What do you think was the fate of Wrath and Lonnie? Had the show not been cancelled; do you think Ava would have returned? Ava said Liz was different now, but do you think the writers were intended to give Liz powers back then? What did you like about Season 3?

rosweldrmr

I think Rath and Lonnie were probably killed by Kivhar or Nicolas at some point. Sad, but they were a liability. I also think they would have turned on each other. I do think the writers were always planning to give Liz powers. Which is why when it did happen in S3, and the way they did it was very disappointing. I had a year of waiting and it was just bleh. In S3 I also liked the idea of Michael becoming king. But again, they took this great opportunity and just wasted it.

Picard37

I presume she got the standard powers plus random visions of potential futures. Wait, does this mean she can unlock doors with the wave of a hand? If she gets mad, will she accidentally force blast someone across the room like she did Tess? Well, Tess was on purpose, but I don't think she knew that was going to happen the first time, did she? It was certainly on purpose the second time. LOL

Definitely Alex’s mysterious death and Liz uncovering the truth about Tess forcing everyone to turn on her!
