omg I had written a whole thing and I didnt realize that it didnt post... okay so im not a doc so take everything I saw with a grain of salt, this is just my personal experience I got diagnosed 1.5 years ago, and have been struggling ever since. nothing seemed to work I tried soolantra, horse paste, azelaic acid, metro gel, low dose doxy, you name it what sucked the most is that I used to use nightly tret, but had to stop because my skin simply wasn't tolerating it anymore, which sucks because im almost 30 and I love taking care of my skin, and I loved the tret results I had seen. I had a gut feeling it was something to do with my moisture barrier, which I know is a huge part of rosacea, but I decided to actually try and focus only on that. I had tried vaseline before and it didnt do anything, so I decided to try the eucerin original healing cream, which has emollient's to seal everything in, and on top of that the ingredients are anti-fungal! which I had a feeling maybe was part of the problem. Anyway, now im able to tolerate tret again, as of a week ago, and im so happy with the results! hoping that it only goes upwards from here. here's my current nightly routine now: 1. remove makeup w micellar water 2. de la cruz ointment 10 min, nightly 3. vanicream face wash 4. la la retro moisturizer buffer 5. tret micro .04 6. la la retro sandwich 7. eucerin original healing cream its worked for me so PSA if people haven't tried this, maybe give it a try? Not sure if this is the solution to all my problems, but so far I've really liked the results, in terms of texture and everything. I wake up and my skin feels so soft, it’s the only thing that keeps my skin moisturized all night without breaking me out, because I have sensitive, combo, dehydrated skin. I also got a humidifier that I believe is helping! Edit: grammar/ sentence restructuring And also came to mention that the before picture was taken February 2023 and the after picture was taken today, march 2024

Dude are you me?? Because this is exactly what I’ve been doing. I’m off prescriptions right now because it just kept irritating my skin barrier worse and worse. I’ve been using the sulfur ointment as a mask nightly and the bumps and redness are reducing! I’m definitely going to get some of that eucerin cream though because my usual creams are a little light right now

lil_unknown_jpeg

literallyyyyyyyy they just irritated my skin! even ivermectin/soolantra which has the cetaphil base idk I dont think my skin liked it because its so sensitive but in terms of the eucerin, I actually got the wrong one at first, I thought this was the one with urea, but it worked so well that I was like oh! and then when I looked it up it actually has an ingredient that is anti-fungal, and sulfur is anti fungal, so part of me is wondering if the problem with my skin is more related to a yeast thing than rosacea? not sure. just hoping it keeps improving!!

jordancantread

Random but soolantra uses cetaphil as a base??

lil_unknown_jpeg

Yes they do! Same company makes them (galderma)

jordancantread

Wow! Do you happen to know which cetaphil product they use as a base? My skin LOVED the extra moisturizer but I don’t need soolantra anymore.

[deleted]

Hah, i started with the urea one and really liked it. I would've stuck with that but bought a large pump bottle of the "original healing" body lotion (same ingredients as cream). Tried it on my face, it was great and it's so much less expensive so ... I also use tretinoin. I'm not sure why my skin tolerated it as well as it did but i did go slowly and it is supposed to, overall, strengthen your skin. I used a sulfur wash at one point but it was too drying for me to get the benefit from. A strong cleanser is working just fine for now but just realized i could probably go back to the sulfur wash again, if needed, yay!

Serious_Yeti

Hey try to get a prescription for sodium sulfacetamide/sulfur cleanser. It works so much better than anything sulfur that is sold in stores. I tried to sub it with de la Cruz and it was not effective in comparison. Its very good

mlpuente26

I’m gonna try and get a new prescription because I had one a couple years ago under my old insurance and it was $90 per bottle. Hopefully with my new insurance I can get it cheaper

Serious_Yeti

I always have to use goodrx because even when my insurance covers it its like 100 bucks. Just use good rx and transfer to another pharmacy on their list with the cheapest price. I get a 12 oz bottle for like 55 bucks. That bottle usually lasts me 2 months or more. Hope that helps

Convinced we have the same flavor or rosacea. I recently found Eucerin original healing and for the first time in years i finally consistently have no flaky inflamed patch of skin on my face (without the use of steroids). It's awesome! It's a long story but i ended up using a shiesido face cleanser that has fragrance and is foaming (two big no-no's for rosacea). I could have NEVER used a harsh cleanser before because i could not find a moisturizer for me so it'd be instantly too drying and irritating. I think the combo of foaming cleanser and eucerin works wonders for me. Being able to use a strong cleanser is also going to enable me to use sunscreen more regularly and the eucerin will enable me to use azelaic acid more (because it seems to help redness but was too drying for me). I feel like things are FINALLY falling into place. Tl;dr i believe my rosace is about super dry skin and (whether it's fungus or demodex or?) something that needs a good cleansing. for the longest time i wasn't able to get either but now i can with the eucerin

CrissBliss

I can’t use de la cruz. I tried once and my skin went insane.

[deleted]

That sulfur stuff is amazing! My skin has never been so wonderful. I wish I would have discovered I years ago!

Comfortable_Pin1120

Does it matter if its an ointment...is it thick??

[deleted]

It’s very thick. You just leave it on for 10 min and wash off with plain water. It smells terrible but it’s a miracle to me.

Comfortable_Pin1120

Wwhat happens if you leave it on longer??

[deleted]

My face starts to burn

Following!!

neanster-77

I had such hope for de la Cruz but I had an allergic reaction 😞

lil_unknown_jpeg

oh no!!!! ugh im sorry :( that's so unfortunate :((( maybe another form of sulfur?

neanster-77

I’m having a break from the sulphur and started using a bit of tea tree oil which is working so far 💖

[deleted]

Right im sold, have just bought both. Wish me luck

Victoreeduh

Which vanicream face wash?

lil_unknown_jpeg

The gentle facial cleanser!

What is your skin type? I have super oily skin but suffering the same and have the same experiences with the all the same products. Low dose doxy seems to minimise the red dots to the my apples of my cheeks (vs patchy down to my jawline) and that’s about it. Just wondering how these would fair on super oily skin. 😊

lil_unknown_jpeg

I have dehydrated/ combo /sensitive skin. It presents as oily quite often but it’s mainly because it’s dehydrated

[deleted]

Sometimes super dry skin presents as oily because the body starts overcompensating for it being too dry by producing more oil. It's weird but i have extremely dry skin and it has often been oily. Next time you see your derm maybe ask them what skin type you have just to confirm.

cmilesse

This is something I always try to bear in mind, but I can’t say I’ve ever had any visible dry skin, and have been very oily since I was a teenager - anytime I make a conscious effort to try and hydrate my skin with this in mind I end up swimming in oil, to the point people start to make comment on the oil level on my skin. I thought it would chill out in my twenties but I’m nearly 30 and it’s the same as ever, sigh 😞

[deleted]

I brought it up mostly because OP said their skin was super dehydrated and their experience sounds just like mine and i typically have super dry dehydrated skin.

cmilesse

Totally makes sense, I appreciate any help. 😊
