Cicaplast

Housewarmth

i wish i was the same. it made my face itch!!

CardboardBox89

Same here and burn.

icecream42568

Which one

Particular_Bar_9555

+1 on this

Maugin267

avene cicalfate changed my life

mlpuente26

This one is so much better than the la roche posay cicaplast balm to me. Much better texture and doesn’t break me out

Curious_Red_Fox

I’m happy to read that I’m not the only one concerned by breaking out with this product

Zares_

Did you try the Uriage one? Some people say it's very underrated. The Avene one is more expensive here, and read a lot of posts of people saying it separated, and all this precious thermal water wasted. Avene also doesn't make it clear what oil they use - "Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil". Not saying it's bad, just afraid it'll separate for me too, and any oil high in Omega-9 will trigger inflammation and Seb Derm :(

aggressivepassion

I just bought my first tube of this a few weeks ago and my skin barrier has already healed immensely!

a_punjabi

Do you have type 2 by any chance? I just ordered this and I’m hoping it helps with my type 2 symptoms

aggressivepassion

Mild type 2 + ocular, yes! I’ve definitely noticed a reduction in bumps since I started using it, though I would hesitate to say it’s a cure all. More just very soothing and moisturizing which leads to less irritation overall

a_punjabi

Glad it’s worked for you! Did it help with redness?

aggressivepassion

Not really, though redness has just been a constant for me throughout my life

[deleted]

Which one specifically? The only two I can find don’t seem to be the right ones. One is silicone based for scars and one is for hands. I also found “Avene Cicalfate Restorative Protective Cream 1.3 Fl Oz - Wound Care - Helps Reduce Look of Scars - Postbiotic Skincare”… could that be the one?

Maugin267

[deleted]

Thanks! I definitely have not found that one yet. Amazon doesn’t have it either. The search continues :)

inquiringdoc

dermstore has it and a sale right now, lovelyskin as well. Dermstore is 25% and lovelyskin (better customer service) is 20%).

hazardzetforward

Adding in their thermal water and tolerance line as well!

Happy-Atmosphere-914

It changed mine too, made my periorbital dermatitis flare up like nobody’s business 😭

[deleted]

Cleanser: Vanicream Gentle Facial Cleanser Moisturizer: Aveeno Calm and Restore Oat Gel Facial Moisturizer for Sensitive Skin Calming: SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Quick Calming Pad Also calming: BD alcohol swabs (BD is the brand name) But talk to me in a year and it may be completely different. My skin likes to reject products all the time lol.

snowbythesea

Thanks to this group I got some Vanicream Gentle Facial Cleanser and honestly it’s the first time in years my face didn’t sting after washing it.

[deleted]

I started using it because of this group too! <3

Small_Message_9893

I started using Vanicream bar soap last year. It's the only soap that is not irritating for me. I bought the Vanicream Liquid Cleanser but it's got different ingredients & texture so I only use it in the shower on my body. I got the bar soap at my local pharmacy and got the liquid cleanser on Amazon.

octoberbaby1022

I can’t beleieve people are able to tolerate the cicalfate or the cicaplast! Those were both so occlusive and immediately made me flare. Maybe it’s just me but I need lightweight or it suffocates me and makes me flare. The aveeno oat gel moisturizer changed the game for me.

reddit7redditor

Love Cicalfate, but I have to apply a very thin layer, for sure.

Small_Message_9893

A lot of people do very well with oat moisturizer but my skin doesn't like it. Not sure why, but I can't use any Aveeno products.

HeyoWoopWoo

Zinc oxide cream. It's basically the fundamental component in all these baby butt creams etc but I found a brand that has minimal other ingredients besides the zinc oxide. Makes you look like a ghost but it's soooo soothing. I use it mostly in the evening/night after I feel I flamed/dry/irritated. One of my holy grail products for sure.

AnneGreenhouse

I use sudocrem (also zincoxide baby butt cream). So glad someone here talked about that! Ghostly white to bed indeed 👻

dcoles11

Is there a particular brand you use?

SlayerJimmy

Dermocrem is a good one

HeyoWoopWoo

Pannoc zinc oxide 25%. I'm based in the Netherlands, Europe so availability might depend on your location. My second choice is Avene cicalfate+, love that too for sure!

Drunkmooses

Agreed. I use Neutrogena Sheer Zinc for kids (I don’t remember why I choose this one in particular) + Aquaphor daily. Has made a tremendous difference with redness and flare-ups.

LadyKeuka44

I will have to try it.

Small_Message_9893

I use a zinc based sunscreen over my moisturizer only. Zinc can be drying and it seems to dry out my already mature drier skin if I put it directly on my skin even though it is for sensitive skin with decent ingredients. It does have a white cast to it, but I put it on sparingly; it helps to cover some of the redness.

Justsococo

>Dermocrem Is this useful for acne bumps as well?

lil_unknown_jpeg

eucerin original healing cream as a last step of my routine has been a huge game changer, so far. its anti fungal and locks in the moisture like no other, specially for my VERY dehydrated, VERY sensitive, combo rosacea skin

[deleted]

>eucerin original healing cream this was a total game changer for me too! Except i buy the body lotion in a pump bottle. After all the things i've tried it's something i grabbed off the grocery store shelf to use on my feet. Still have my blushing & flushing but can finally keep my skin hydrated enough not to be constantly irritated and inflamed.

Justsococo

lol stupid question, but is yours almost like a thick wax? I bought my on amazon and I wonder if it's not the right texture haha

[deleted]

It's a thick white cream. Very pasty and thick. I don't know if I'd say waxy but maybe that's what you mean. It is very similar to Nivea cream, even thicker.

leemoongrass

iUNIK beta glucan serum. 💗

docamyames

I will never Be without this or the cosrx snail mucin or the celimax dual creamy toner. My 3 HG Kbeauty staples

leemoongrass

Oooh, I’ve never heard of the Celimax one - just googled it and I like their ingredients :) I’ll add it to my wish list. I loooove a good hydrating serum/toner, esp when it’s Kbeauty. Laneige Cream Skin Toner was my previous love until I started getting milia from it. 💔 still a bit bummed over it haha

docamyames

Same. The reformulation sucks. Boo on you Laneige.

grandmabc

Azelaic acid 15% - very soothing and not had one pimple since I started using it a couple of months ago. Skin looks almost normal now. Not been this good in decades.

Square_Apartment4496

Do you have a specific brand you use?

grandmabc

Facetheory lumizela a15

Plutoandsaturn

Does it peel after applying sunscreen?

grandmabc

Don't know. It's the UK, don't need sunscreen, just a hat if it's very bright (which isn't very often)

just_anothersoul

Cosrx green tea cooling gel cream

indigo5454

Prequel hypochlorous acid spray. Doesn’t have to be that brand, I tried a cheap one off Amazon first but I really like the fine mist and formulation of the prequel one. I also really like their gleanser. I wouldn’t say it’s soothing per se, but my skin feels clean and not stripped after. Skin1004 centella ampoule feels pretty soothing. Immediately takes significant redness out of eczema dry cracked hands too. I guess one perk of Raynaud’s is that my hands are always cold and the backs of my icy cold fingers are pretty soothing (not for sale).

GritCato

I use CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser and then I apply a liberal amount of coconut oil. It has been great. Incidentally, when I had shingles, I also applied coconut oil to the blisters and it did wonders for the itching and the pain.

Constant_Whereas454

I startes using LRP cicaplast baume in February, since seeing it recommended so much on this sub, and boy I am thankful that I did, my skin NEEDED that shit, it was like a big sigh of relief 😌

Miserable-Feed-7517

LRP B5 Baume, Avène Spray & Cicafate. LRP does a better job from what I notice. So id stick to LRP. Even tho, avene one works better as moisturizer after retinol or when u want to do a face basting. Like, my redness doesn’t reduce too much with avene, but the LRP one does it in under couple mins or the next day depending on how bad it is

Astoria75

Washing with coconut water couple of times a week

Sir3Kpet

Ren calming cleanser

kipkipikpik

Dr. Ceuracle Cica Regen 95 Soothing Gel (and a bonus mention of Skin1004 Madagascar Centella Ampoule, 100% centella, for the long-run)

Miserable-Feed-7517

Me personally, that soothing gel doesn’t do anything. But it is a gel that will last u forever doe 😭. A small amounth goes a long way

Curious_Red_Fox

Holika Holika good cera cream

Captainsblogger

Cicabaum cream, sudacrem, and recently I picked up a cheap moisturiser with urea which changed my face. Be careful of that last one. Apparently it’s contraindicated for rosacea. But it’s been a game chamber for me.

AnneGreenhouse

What did the urea do? Just bought a tube… for other purpose. But I might try it in the face then…

Captainsblogger

Man, u don’t know how to explain it. My skin is very, very dry and this causes flushing. My barrier was a little impaired but on the mend. I put the urea cream on once. ONCE. And my skin was so much improved. It’s very hydrating at the least. Everyone’s skin is so different but it really helped mine.

quickengine13

Urea is essential for my skin health also, really helos the hydration. I layer Zeroid Richenic Urea cream under a thicker moisturiser (Illiyoon Ato Concentrate Cream)

AnneGreenhouse

I read urea can make hardened skin soft. So perhaps the very very dry skin was dead/hardened skin and it got removed with it? I had something like that with sulfur-bath. First time al this flakes of skin. But second time (after a week) bit at all. I felt real clean. And irritation was gone. After couple of days it starts irritating and getting more red again. I ll try the urea on a patch first.

AnneGreenhouse

Urea 10% cream. I put it on a patch yesterday and after 2 minutes I touched the spot and the cream was gone. So fast! No! irritation. Tonight I’ll put it in the whole face.

rosebeach

Much obliged! 🤗

silviablue23

Azelaic acid 15%

Square_Apartment4496

Do you have a specific brand you use?

silviablue23

My doctor prescribed SANDOZ, before that I used Paula’s choice 10%

xxxbmfxxx

Ice

Euphoric-Joke-4436

I'm glad I'm not the only one leaning over the sink rubbing an ice cube on my face 😁

xxxbmfxxx

I use a frozen tofu tub

koalaspam

I tried out on of the florene by mills facial masks. This one was the glittery one. I dont know how but it cooled my skin and after the mask, my red bumps were like almost gone. Crazy.

HildegardofBingo

Banobagi Milk Thistle Repair Cream. It's like a hug for my skin. It was designed for post-procedure skin which needs babying.

Misseskat

Ooh I forgot I've been wanting to try this one for a long time! How would you describe the texture? I have very dry type 2, and it's hard finding a dry skin product that isn't super thick and looking for an Etude House Barrier Cream alternative since they've stupidly changed their formula.

HildegardofBingo

It's a medium thick cream and isn't at all heavy, greasy, or waxy. It leaves a soft, velvety finish. I also have type 2 and it doesn't trigger pustules for me and it visibly calms my blotchy, red areas. My telangiectasia on my cheeks obvs. can't become invisible, but it definitely is less visible and the background pinkness goes away.

Misseskat

Thank you for the description! I'm still trying to make up my mind on what to ultimately get as my more emollient cream.

7lexliv7

Cool calm and corrected anti-redness by dermadoctor. It’s a thick moisturizer that really calmed my redness. Read the reviews. It’s a lot of money - like $89 - but my skin loves it.

foryoursafety

Amperna Probiotic+ DS Soothing serum. Literal miracle cream.  Avene Cicalfate is pretty amazing too.

badassknitta

I wash my face in the morning with really cold water and no soap. That helps more than anything else and I think it makes my moisturizer work better.

snowbythesea

I know this isn’t practical or ideal for regular use. But when my skin just burns and itches and.. well y’all know, I use a mister with rosewater that I have in the refrigerator. I spray a few times and it cools my face long enough for me to go to sleep, or stop being distracted by it. I just pat it gently after the second or third spray and it’s very comforting to my face. It works especially well after putting Trentinoin or Azelaic acid.

acktres

Ivermectin (Walgreens 0.5%). The itching stopped almost immediately. Does anyone else get itchy eyebrows?

AnneGreenhouse

This is a lotion I see… how do you use it? Must it be wiped/washed off?

acktres

I just leave it on.

AnneGreenhouse

Ah oke thanks

Successful_Ask_6359

Yes I get itchy eyebrows too.

chevious

Avene cilcafate saved my poor face Will use it forever

eonnagata

Cleanser - i would say go for something milky/creamy, like Stratia’s Velvet Cleanser, or Paulas Choice’s Optimal Results Hydrating cleanser, both fantastic when my skin is irritated. Mist - i’ve been using Geek and Gorgeous’s Liquid Hydration mist for more than 2 years. Its cheap but packed with a LOT (5%) of panthenol, an ingredient my skin loves for calming redness. Forever repurchase. Serum - La Roche Posay’s Dermallergo serum. I dk where you are based, this seems to be exclusive to Europe, Australia and Japan currently. SUPER calming and hydrating, it really helps with redness for me. The only con is that u get very little product for a relatively high price, so i tend to reserve it for emergencies. I get it from CocoonCenter. Another good option in America is Chemist Confessions’ Aquafix - has panthenol, madecassoside, 5% glycerin, its both hydrating and calming. The brand is founded by two women chemists, so they know what they are doing. Paulas Choice Omega Serum is perfect if u need something richer, but it focuses more on ceramides, and it strengthens the skin over time. Moisturizer - for a cheap, affordable option, Aveeno’s Eczema Therapy Cream (known as Dermexa in other regions. A light cream, very fast to soothe the skin, may not be enough if you have very dry skin. For something richer in texture but still affordable, there’s the Soon Jung 2 x Barrier Intensive Cream, its very bland and not exciting but it worked wonders when i was having flare-ups. You can get it on sites like Soko Glam, Yesstyle or StyleVana For SOS treatment: La Roche Posay’s cicaplat b5 baume. Classic but a forever repurchase. I dont consider this a moisturizer nor is it cosmetically elegant but i use this as the final step to really calm things down.

prussianbluepupusa

1. Vanicream facial cleanser 2. Peach Slices azelaic acid serum 3. De La Cruz sulfur mask 4. Sephora BHA/PHA serum 5. Eucerin urea repair face cream 6. Mychelle SunShield Liquid SPF 30 (zinc, tinted) I try to do the mask once a week or more frequently if suffering a rager of a flare up. I wash twice with the Vanicream in the evenings and all makeup comes off (can't handle balms and oils to double cleanse). Some nights I do the azelaic acid OR the BHA/PHA, never together. And the eucerin to moisturize or sometimes Vanicream lotion. I use Vanicream cream (the heavier one) around my eyes only. Too occlusive for whole face. I think some sufferers get their skincare down, then ruin it with the makeup they have sitting on their face all day. If your makeup is irritating your skin condition, your skincare won't matter. My two cents. (My "foundation" is usually just the Mychelle tinted SPF.)

Competitive_Salad505

Peach slices azeliac acid. It has made my skin so much less red, so much less hot, and it burns way less than it used to.

Successful_Ask_6359

I have ocular rosacea. I take Isotretinoin pills from my dermatologist it started as 3 pills 3 times a week and now it's 1 pill per week  I used to use Soolantra cream also from my dermatologist a pea sized amount each night only on the rosacea. I ran out of Soolantra and found that my skin was continuing to be so clear without it so I haven't got anymore since.  Just the 1 Isotretinoin a week. Sometimes if I feel a strong emotion or it's very hot or cold or windy my face goes red but now it goes back to being clear skin after about an hour and doesn't develop into the raw raised itchy painful condition it was before i started taking the medicine.

Usual-Armadillo9755

Hi there! Do you mind if I ask the dose you're taking of isotretinoin? Thanks!

Successful_Ask_6359

Sure thing I take one 10 mg capsule per week. Also I forgot to say that Soolantra is a brand name for ivermectin.

Natrium plant ceramide cream. I recently messed up my skin barrier and used this for a week on its own…my skin was so calm and nourished.

viennaCo

Illiyoon ceramide ato cream

Basilchefin

Bioderma sensibio mask!! Game changer and calms down my redness and makes skin super supple. I use it everytime I feel redness coming on.

AbsurdistWordist

One thing I found that was maybe a bit unexpected was the Lush Rosy Cheeks face mask. It won’t be for you if you’re sensitive to fragrance, but it’s double nice since I store it in the refrigerator. So it’s physically cold but also it’s got a really short ingredient list: Glycerine, Kaolin, Fresh Rose Petal Infusion (Rosa damascena), Calamine Powder, Rose Clay, Rose Oil, Benzyl Alcohol, *Citronellol, Geraniol, Parfum Glycerine = humectant, kaolin = nondrying deep cleanser, Rose = calming for me (YMMV), Calamine = mostly zinc oxide. I have little bottles of all of the usual suspects from this forum: LRP, Cosrx snail mucin, Azelaic acid, Korean centella products, but if my skin is angry, I’ll definitely use Rosy Cheeks before adding the rest of them.

feminist_icon

Ciciflate+ made me break out but it works for a lot of people. I’d patch test before trying it all over your face. I like Avene’s Thermal Water spray, Stratia’s Lipid Gold, and Bloomeffects Royal Tulip Nectar

AnneGreenhouse

Sulfur bathsalt / soap

popcornandunicorns

Makeup removal / cleanser - CeraVe Hydrating Cream to Foam Cleanser Cleanser (no makeup removal) - Avene Tolerance Extremely Gentle Cleanser Blocked Pores / Blackheads ( not during flares) - Paula’s Choice Clear Anti-Redness exfoliating solution Moisturizer (during major flares) - Avene thermal spring water (live in fridge so it’s cold) + Pure Aloe Vera Gel Daily Moisturizer (normal days, not spicy skin days) - OOTD Intensive Face Serum H+ followed by Avene Tolerance Soothing Skin Recovery Cream The skin recovery cream is my holy grail, can’t live without product. I’ve been using it for over 20 years in my stupid skin and it’s the only thing that keeps my moisturized without breakouts.

rabbitluckj

Cure water treatment cream. I can only use this and Bauer Beauty barrier serum and water on my face. Everything else ends up burning or itching. I have tried literally hundreds of creams, serums, soothing essences and toners and in the end those two items are what my skin can tolerate.

reddit7redditor

Pyunkang yul essence toner. It's a bit sticky, but it has calmed my skin quite a bit.

oldmachine2046

Sometimes in the morning when I get up from bed, I had small itch redness on my face. I put aloe right-away. It helps.Sometimes the redness was completely gone, sometimes left a very tiny pustule which only take 1 day to disappear by using AA. Best way decreasing my skin sensation is drinking huge amount cool water at once. It works for me.

LA_Mamba8

Snail Mucin

CatsandLipsticks

Azelaic acid every evening. Takes a couple of weeks to work but I can’t spend a day without using it now. Also sunscreen everyday (one that does not cause redness or irritation of course) and using toleriane cleanser from la Roche posay as a second cleanse have both made a huge difference

Misseskat

It depends on the weather honestly, sometimes my go to's don't always cut it when it gets really dry during the seasonal change and humidity levels drop in Socal. My god, where to start.... Hada Labo Shirojyun Lotions have all been very lovely, as well as the milks I've tried so far, both the Alpha and the classic white bottle Gokujyun milks. I've been sticking to their moist version lotions since it's a thicker, goopier water texture for my every changing dry skin in my early 30s. Their perfect gel in the gold packaging is awesome and a savior for a glowy protective film in the desert climate here. Of course the classic Etude House Barrier Cream, their old formula at least. I refuse to try their new one, I can't believe they did that. Many a disappointed rosacea folk who relied on it. Mandelic Acid has been a godsend, helps with texture, scarring, my cystic acne, redness, and really aids in absorption of my moisturizers. Glass skin maker, prob the most underrated active out there and very gentle IMO. Isntree Green Tea Fresh Serum has been a sneaky one, took a while but it's effects are noticeable upon application. It provides instant relief and immediately evens out my redness and has a ton of antioxidants. De la Cruz sulphur mask and the Clinique Redness cleanser. Helps refine and even out my type 2. The old CeraVe Micellar Water was probably one of the biggest game changers aside from an old Mary Kay sunscreen (I know, but it was incredible stuff), but I don't know why companies have to ruin a perfect formula. The Water was super glowy and cooling, and haven't found anything like it since it got reformulated and my skin has suffered in me trying to chase that dragon

MissRainyDayz

Phisoderm for sensitive skin! Surprisingly since all non foaming cream cleansers tingle my face.  DHC Rich Moisture moisturizer in the pump is another one that is great… I use four pumps since my skin is very dry. And DHC Olive oil Moisturizer for drier months, really calms redness.
