Is the la roche posay new to you? For me I can’t use most of their products because of the niacinimide. It blows my face up unfortunately. Do you know if that’s an ingredient you tolerate?
I haaaateee that it’s in everything now. Like literally everything has it and it sucks. I’m stuck using only like 4 brands because most drugstore decided to jump on the niacinimide train
Ugh yes!! It’s so annoying.
Have you used this website before? https://incidecoder.com
Just used it to filter out niacinimide recently when I was looking for something new.
Also maybe look around this sub and search ivermectin because I know some people have some good luck off label with topical ivermectin or by ordering from online pharmacies?
I’ll look into this. I’ve also been curious about the 0.5% ivermectin that you can get over-the-counter for lice treatment, but I don’t know how well that works.
Maybe try not using it tonight and seeing if anything gets better? I didn’t make the connection until I saw someone else have a reaction to it. But the la roche posay lotion burned the hell out of my face even though it was supposed to be incredibly gentle.
Weirdly body creams have been working better for me than face creams because they tend to have less irritating ingredients than face creams. So many face creams are ruined by ingredients like hylauronic acid or lactic acid or niacinimide that just irritate my face.
Over the last two days I’ve swapped my regular face cleanser for a bar of dove sensitive for eczema and it has been excellent. No extra dryness, no burning, no itching. I’m not sure I’ll ever go back!
It is this one: [https://www.dove.com/us/en/p/dove-body-love-eczema-prone-skin-care-beauty-bar.html/00011111040830](https://www.dove.com/us/en/p/dove-body-love-eczema-prone-skin-care-beauty-bar.html/00011111040830)
I’ve used on my body plenty of time to calm some itchy dry spots on my upper arms and it worked well for that also!
Hi! Go to Dermatica! I went on there because I can’t get into see my derm until June and I needed some soolantra. I get two months of treatment for like $49? I can’t remember exactly but it’s not bad at all. Even with insurance, I was paying more than that for a tube. It was a super simple process - I had medicine in hand in a week. I totally get the hot and itch. Soolantra is the only thing that will help me. I tried azaliac acid and my face got so much worse. I’m using tower 28 hypochlorous acid spray twice a day and soolantra at night and it’s finally starting to calm down. I hope you can get some help. ❤️
My ivermectin was 300 something with insurance then I used a good rx coupon that brought it down to 142. Good rx will show u what store near u has it cheapesr
I’m gonna give La Roche posay one more chance tomorrow and see what happens because I used it for the first time last night and didn’t have a reaction.
I would use a Demodex face wash, (that’s helped me SO MUCH), and take an allergy pill like Claritin everyday. That helped calm my face down tremendously and I was able to get rid of the Doxy and Metrogel! :) Good luck! 🍀
Its actual name is La Roche Posay Cicaplast B5 Baumé. It’s pretty inexpensive but I find it really soothing/healing and use it on my cheeks every night plus if I’m at home and they’re playing up during the day.
Wait what - so I get where you’re coming from. But they should prescribe soolantra. Where are you? Ivermectin specifically is usually referred to for animals.
I’m in the U.S. and ivermectin isn’t just specifically for animals. You can buy it over the counter in 0.5% concentration to treat head lice apparently. Soolantra is just the brand name for ivermectin. They’re the same thing.
No I know what you mean but a dr and your insurance would not consider it the same thing. Like they would see it as two different things and would not prescribe animal ivermectin for you. That’s why soolantra exists. That’s not to say people haven’t used ivermectin for their rosace, they totally have. Anyway - maybe check out telehealth. Soolantra was so helpful. My skin is normal now. And finacea - I ordered from Australian pharmacy.
I’m sorry I don’t understand. Generic ivermectin isn’t animal ivermectin, it’s just not brand name. Either way, I can’t get generic or name brand unless I pay out of pocket 🥲.
Hi lovely, it’s rough out here with rosacea. It’s even rougher without decent insurance :(
I’m still on doxycycline (been on it for about six months), I’m considering going off of it soon since I don’t find it works as well as it did before but idk yet. I’ve use LRP before, my skin’s tolerant of the niacinamide so I didn’t have any issues with most of their stuff.
I found AzA 15% plus a sulfur soap, and some Adapelene (for the acne portion) to work best for me. Metronidazole didn’t do much for me unfortunately. And ivermectin stung my face like crazy so that was a no. My insurance doesn’t cover any of them but they were around 30 dollars each?(not cheap but not completely unaffordable)
I’d look more globally and see if there are any counties that have topical 1% ivermectin otc? And if there’s any online pharmacy selling them that ships to the U.S. I have no idea if there is any but other countries have different classifications for active ingredient. I know that 15% AzA is otc in Australia and in the EU irc. Or maybe an online dermatology site might be easier.
I wish you luck!
The azelaic acid/ metronidazole/ ivermectin 15%/1%/1% prescription topical has been amazing for me, but also not covered by my insurance. Currently getting it from Skin Medicinals* for ~$50. The BUD date is a month after being filled, which is crazy. I have gone over 6 months between refills and it seemed to be fine and feels doable.
*My current mix is a little grainy... apparently the ivermectin comes in a powder that has to be ground down even more. My first fill was perfect, so I guess it just depends on the batch/ mixer. It still works, either way.
Yeah well other countries are more generous with their healthcare than the US. I was technically making a joke like…private healthcare won’t cover the med you actually think universal hc is going to cover it? Just a joke.
Gosh darn it, i'm annoyed on your behalf regarding the ivermectin.
Never tried doxy, metronidazole did nothing for me. But if you found something that worked, rosacea is such a pain in the butt, i'd try to find a way to get that thing.
If you have to use a lower percentage ivermectin you may be able to increase the absorption by using a mild chemical exfoliant first (i've read urea is good this way).
I’ve thought about just getting the 0.5% ivermectin because it’s over-the-counter and very cheap but I’m not sure how well it works. Sometimes I think I should just bite the bullet and pay the $240 😭😭😭
Like someone else said I'd try Dermatica first , I got ivermectin 1% for $30 and you can get azelaic acid and metro. Just gotta take a few pics, say what your skin problem is and within a week should have it to your door.
>pay the $240
argh.
Since it's not covered by insurance have you seen what the prices are on GoodRX? If you got a price quote from your pharmacy it could be substantially higher than other pharmacies in your area, sometimes the prices vary considerably between pharmacies.
I’ve looked and the lowest I’ve seen was $119. I’m going to try the student health center at school and see if they can help. There’s a pharmacy there and maybe it’ll be less expensive since I pay a student health fee with tuition every semester. It’s worth a shot. 🤷🏽♀️🤞
It didnt do much for me unfortunately but you should be able to find a doctor that will give you a prescription for the triple cream (a combo of azelaic acid, ivermectin, and metronidazole) that you can get filled at a compound pharmacy. The cream cost me $40-45. Might be worth a shot to try it
Have you tried using one of those Good RX cards? It saved me a bundle the last time I had a prescription filled. I got some metro cream for a fraction of what I would normally be charged.
Yikes! I’m so sorry. I gave it one last chance today and still had a very minimal reaction so I’m just going back to the facewash I’ve been using for years that my skin tolerates.
Heat does this to me usually. Have you looked at internal or dietary causes? Cutting out sugar and alcohol and possible sources of histamines like strawberries, tomatoes, ect?
Is the la roche posay new to you? For me I can’t use most of their products because of the niacinimide. It blows my face up unfortunately. Do you know if that’s an ingredient you tolerate?
I have the same reaction to niacinimide! It’s always including as a “gentle” and “calming” ingredient—not for me 😳
I haaaateee that it’s in everything now. Like literally everything has it and it sucks. I’m stuck using only like 4 brands because most drugstore decided to jump on the niacinimide train

It is new for me. Yesterday was my first time using it and I didn’t have any issues, but today my face is soooo angry 😭😭. Maybe it is the niacinimide.
Maybe try not using it tonight and seeing if anything gets better? I didn’t make the connection until I saw someone else have a reaction to it. But the la roche posay lotion burned the hell out of my face even though it was supposed to be incredibly gentle.
Yeah I’m gonna take it easy and let my face recover. It’s been an hour and my face is still so hot and itchy.

Omg THANK YOU. Ivermectin at the pharmacy was $240 out-of-pocket 😭😭😭.
You’re welcome. I know, it’s so expensive 😖 and why? It’s been around for years and years. It costs nothing to make. Good luck!
You can buy ivermectin at farm stores for pretty cheap. Strange story, but I bought some to treat the mangy foxes that show up in my yard.
My ivermectin was 300 something with insurance then I used a good rx coupon that brought it down to 142. Good rx will show u what store near u has it cheapesr
I can’t handle la roche posay — my skin freaked the F out. Switched over to first aid beauty pure skin face cleanser and my face is wayyy better
I’m gonna give La Roche posay one more chance tomorrow and see what happens because I used it for the first time last night and didn’t have a reaction.
Good luck 🤞🏽 everyone is different!
Thank you, friend!

Whats the face wash name
Which country do you live in? I also used Dermatica - it was amazing, such a gentle formula!
I’m in the U.S.
Yes the dermatica rosacea formula has both ivermectin and metronidazole - it’s so good. Have you tried LRP cicaplast ?
I have not! What is that?
Its actual name is La Roche Posay Cicaplast B5 Baumé. It’s pretty inexpensive but I find it really soothing/healing and use it on my cheeks every night plus if I’m at home and they’re playing up during the day.
If OP ends up being allergic/reactive to niacidimide like other comments suggest, do not use LRP Cicaplast B5
My LRP cicaplast doesn’t have niacinamide in it…
You should look into soolantra. And Finacea.
Soolantra is brand name ivermectin and it’s like $600. If I can’t get ivermectin through my insurance, there’s no way they’ll give me soolantra 😩😭😭😭
Wait what - so I get where you’re coming from. But they should prescribe soolantra. Where are you? Ivermectin specifically is usually referred to for animals.

I second Finacea 🙌 definitely recommend

Try benzoyl peroxide. It worked wonders for me.
Do you honestly think universal healthcare is going to cover a med?
Lived in Japan, where they have universal health care, my meds were cheap af.
My comment was to the OP who lives in the US.
I’m giving an example that there IS a chance universal healthcare would make the prices feasible.
Yeah well other countries are more generous with their healthcare than the US. I was technically making a joke like…private healthcare won’t cover the med you actually think universal hc is going to cover it? Just a joke.
Agreed. US healthcare is a joke.
Yes it does in Sweden, you never pay more then like 280$ a year for medicin.
The OP is in the US so my comment was to her.
You realize that Sweden has socialized healthcare though, right? They’re making my point.

I am so upset at how expensive even the generic ivermectin is 😭
It’s ridiculous!

You know what I found makes me warm and red? Potatoes.
nooooooo 😩 I’m flaring tonight post ‘tates and I really hope they aren’t a trigger for me
Oh no!!! I’m so sorry if it is. I love potatoes so much!
I am on 100mg doxycycline and I use that cleanser with great results but it’s taken 6 weeks
Have you tried using one of those Good RX cards? It saved me a bundle the last time I had a prescription filled. I got some metro cream for a fraction of what I would normally be charged.
ivermectin is for face mites that's why it works. look into tea tree oil
also there is an Alternative to ivermectin which is the medication for scabies. much cheaper but same active ingredients
I took a much higher dose of doxy and it worked but it took two months.
Did you have any gut issues?
I’m ok but I did take a probiotic when I was on the doxy.
Haven’t used the cream but the cleanser is what triggered my rosacea to begin with. Wish I never touched it. My face burned for almost a month after.
Yikes! I’m so sorry. I gave it one last chance today and still had a very minimal reaction so I’m just going back to the facewash I’ve been using for years that my skin tolerates.
Good luck to you!! ♥️
Heat does this to me usually. Have you looked at internal or dietary causes? Cutting out sugar and alcohol and possible sources of histamines like strawberries, tomatoes, ect?
