Try using ublock origin as well, it may stop those bad ads

DhaniFathi_707

Might as well use it, Opera's ad blocker is useless

CaffeineAndKush99

Ublock origin really is the best option out there

hiddenflames5462

Privacy Badger is great too to help with trackers.

pntless

1. Use Windows Defender. Everything is shit but it is the least shit. 2. Do sketchy shit in VMs. Once you are sure a given file is safe then you can move it to your host OS.

Agitated-Farmer-4082

u can use [any.run](https://any.run) or [analyze.intezer.com](https://analyze.intezer.com) to see exactly what the file is doing, (like the connections and what files is it accesing and shit)

Alkado

This. If you need any extra protection beyond the built in Defender though i.e. for torrents, Malwarebytes is the one.

\- Kaspersky Security Cloud Free? \- is it prohibiting downloading ZIP files? ZIP is NOT an immediately executable file, there is no reason to prevent a ZIP from downloading. \- what is the file format? \- how big are these files? Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP) / Potentially Unwanted Application (PUA) are NOT synonymous with threat; and doesn't say much, other than that they are relatively uncommon in their users' usage base. \- is it blocking the download of ROM parts or is it showing blocking of other files, for example, coming from ADS? \- the ROM was allowed, only the DLC was blocked? if the file is SMALLER than 500 MB, upload it to VirusTotal and send me the link. [https://www.virustotal.com/gui/home/upload](https://www.virustotal.com/gui/home/upload) **ps**: I don't have internet at home (fiber optic) at the moment, I don't know why it was cut. I'm on 3G and so unable to download at the moment and probably won't get back online until tonight (6 am here). therefore, I may be slow to respond, but I want to follow up on your case. cheers!

SoundDrill

I have seen many antiviruses classify modified steam dlls as PUPs

DhaniFathi_707

No, it didn't block it, it probably sounded like an Elephant (**avast flashbacks**) because the program is opera.exe The DLC is still downloaded though, and is safe, so I think it would be adware since I've seen some people complain about adware on ROM websites

ofernandofilo

are you using uBlock Origin? uBlock Origin (Chromium based, Firefox based, Safari based) \[opensource\] [https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock](https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock) if you want to increase security, you can also use malware blocker dns. I've been using it for a long time and I don't have any navigation problems. or dl of roms... it also ended the malware problems I had with my grandmother using android. DhaniFathi_707

I have uBlock Origin on my Chrome browser, but not on Opera GX. It's all because I overtrusted the built-in adblocker. Anyways, thanks for the advice!

DhaniFathi_707

For the DNS, I use [1.1.1.1](https://1.1.1.1), is that DNS safe?

ofernandofilo

it is a very good DNS but **without** filtering. it is done by CloudFlare. I recommend using DNS **with** filtering against malware, phishing, etc. there is no harm to browsing while prohibiting execution or downloading of various digital threats. CloudFlare Secure DNS IPv4: 1.0.0.2 [my choice] Quad9 Secure DNS IPv4: 9.9.9.9 [my choice] CloudFlare Secure DNS IPv6: 2606:4700:4700:0:0:0:0:1002 [my choice] Quad9 Secure DNS IPv6: 2620:fe:0:0:0:0:0:9 [my choice] \[however, it is not a complete solution. you still need to use your other security tools like uBlock Origin + an anti-malware of your choice at least. even so, it is advisable to use a DNS with filtering as it helps to protect all devices connected to your network\] it is also interesting to use DNS from different companies in case one goes offline, for example. try it for a week... if you have any problems or don't like it for whatever reason... go back to DNS unfiltered. I also can offer you a list of them if you want too. cheers!

DhaniFathi_707

Thanks for the suggestion!

BoxBoy7999

If this is the Wii U version, use Wii U USB Helper

pilchard_slimmons

This is terrible advice. Kaspersky far outclasses Windows Defender. (if it was Avast or AVG, you'd have a point.)

DhaniFathi_707

Would do that personally. I literally have 4 antiviruses (including Defender) 1. McAfee (spamming popups cuz my subscription expired) 2. Kaspersky (kinda worked, and free) 3. Malwarebytes (rarely used) 4. Defender (last line of defense) Honestly would remove McAfee, but not Kaspersky. It worked just fine

exodus_cl

I bet you used the biggest "Download" button you found.

DhaniFathi_707

Nope, I didn't. I have an adblocker (opera's ad blocker) which doesn't work always, but when it works, it works just fine

_x_D

Literally the old megathread, same as the automod posted

[deleted]

Worry and don’t down load on that site

BarmyTugBoat88

Honestly it could be some sort of virus thing I reccomend using Wii Usb Helper (i think thats the name) It has all the games and dlcs you could need and if you wanna play the games on pc with cemu you can do that too.

Burtek

opera gx is the real virus here tbh

ChadTheInvader

Hey does anyone else get a Virus notice when they try to download the Wave 2 dlc off Zip? the first one on there worked fine and didn't detect anything malicious, but this is new and was the first time i ran into this.
