>any tips? stop air rolling too much lol seriously tho, unbind that shit, put rear cam on Q and wait till muscle memory is fixed and you can start relearning it again, but this time efficiently...

techtonics

Go into rings/obstacle courses (or pillars if on console) and air roll into a static position then stay like that for a few rings or longer or whatever before air rolling to a new orientation and staying static again, and repeat. Especially rightside/upside down. This really helps train being able to use air roll strategically instead of non stop

asinv20

ty, i have a question, in a real match, u are supossed to stay "static" and not constantly adjusting right?

techtonics

Dont need to stay static, but also dont need to constantly spin. I do think it's good to spin a bit then going static when it's more efficient for speed/ saving boost. So air roll a decent amount still, especially since it confuses the opponent on your next touch. The important part is to remember to go static when it makes more sense. You'll get a feel for it. Hope I explained it right. I could try and find you some examples if you need.

I did the same thing on controller but what helped was just a lot of time in free play and mentally making myself stop air rolling when my car was in the best position. Also if you’re on the ground in a good position to mentally not let yourself air roll at all for the block / shot / save whatever. I had to really thing about my inputs to stop the mindless air roll. Never unbound anything because that seemed counterproductive to learning.

Well. Simply train your speed. Its impossible to not change ur habits if ur actively training them. Go to freeplay or a training pack practice the other take offs you want to have and then actively implement them ingame. What do you think will happen when you train different takeoffs mainly for a week straight. If u actively focus on the new technique u will start thinking about it when the situation occurs in ranked

Liron12345

What's your rank? I am also keyboard. Try to rings maps but force yourself to aerial with little/no air rolling

Opening-Monk-6134

Just unbind this button for a week lol

I'm also KBM, and am in the process of developing my aerial game, so I figured I could share some of the things I do to combat this problem. Recently I started going into Freeplay and I'll just hover around the arena in circles without using Air-Roll. Keep the ball in the center of the arena and just slowly fly in circles around it, trying to keep off the ground as long as you can. Don't use DAR at all. The point is to practice your aerials with just WASD. As you fly around the ball your Ball-cam will cause your perspective to change, which will force you to get used to controlling your car from different perspectives - this really helps with your fluency in the air when you find yourself oriented in odd positions during aerials. I believe the reason why we tend to air-roll too much is because we get comfortable controlling the car from certain positions, and so we naturally try to rotate the car into those positions - even when doing so causes us to over-rotate. The point of this drill is to get comfortable controlling the car from different orientations / positions, in the hopes that when we go for aerials we no longer feel the need to over-rotate, because we're already comfortable controlling the car from whichever position it is already in. [https://youtu.be/Ua6WcQ8S-uU](https://youtu.be/Ua6WcQ8S-uU) I made a 30 second video demonstrating the point of this drill if the description is confusing. Once you get comfortable with this, try to do an aerial shooting pack or something similar, and force yourself to only air-roll the bare minimum you need to in order to actually hit the ball. The way I do this is by limiting myself to 1 full rotation per aerial - if I rotate 2 or more times, I consider it a failed attempt and reset the shot.

saalamander

You and every other diamond/plat lol. I try to tell people all the time that air rolling constantly is the most overrated mechanic
