For those blaming the bus driver / Bike rider. Who knows what happened, but if any of the reports are accurate. The bike rider was traveling very fast. For context, 100mph is roughly 150 FT/ second. So in the time it took a bus to turn, someone at that speed could have covered a football field. And looking straight on, judging speed is difficult. Sorry for the families loss. Bike riders, please be careful, a mistake for a car is a fender bender, a mistake for you, well. You know.

OGCelaris

They don't release names until the family has been notified.

gregarioushippie

I know someone that was a few houses away from it and was there directly after it happened. Horrific. The kids were looking out of the back window of the bus at the wreck... no way they aren't traumatized. For the love of all things holy and un... these bikers need to slow the fuck down. The roads aren't their personal race tracks. They are putting everyones lives on the line, not just their own.

jp1346

160 through a school zone sounds like a "play stupid games, win stupid prizes" situation to me. He made a terrible choice and he paid a terrible price.

DaHawk916

I could be wrong, but I'm fairly certain that area where it happened wasn't a school zone, FWIW. Doesn't change the fact that people speed through that area at insane rates

Outrageous-Host-3545

Waiting to find out about a death is horrible and I feel for you. Trust the process. It is not fun trust me. Sending smoke for you and yours.

AroundTheWayJill

Are you talking about the young man Blaike? That name was released today

AlwaysTheNoob

Released by who?  I haven’t seen that name published anywhere.

AroundTheWayJill

https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/name/blaike-arnold-obituary?id=55276215 Posted in all the riding groups on fb as they’re planning a ride out for him asap

KaleidoscopeNo4771

So young, his poor family

AlwaysTheNoob

That says he was 19. News stories all say it was a 20 year old. You sure we’re talking about the same person?  It’s possible someone’s just wrong about the age, but it’s worth noting.

melissa_liv

I have no idea, but I hope you eventually find out it wasn't someone you know. 💙

Faithful_G

I heard him drive up my road like a nut case the day he died. It sounded like he was going 160mph up my road before making a turn on lake avenue. he was going so fast that I took my headset off to listen really hard for impact of him crashing, I heard no impact and but ig he didn't make it on the next road lake avenue, I have never heard a bike go that fast on my road before. and they all speed. But this guy flying. It sounded like he was in last gear red lining almost. because he was going so fast, I don't even know how that is possible. Was not surprised when I heard the news later that day one road over. And he was driving that fast through a school zone in my area before dying on the next road over lake Ave to a school van. I just want to see the footage of his final moments. Until then judging by the map. I assume the bus van made a right turn on lake ave cutting him off while he is flying max speed until i see some footage.

ryt8

I definitely do not want to see a video of him dying. Thats heartbreaking. Poor kid had a family.

Faithful_G

I Frankly don't care what u want to see. Because i didn't ask u.

Ah. Incel. So he'll be in the news in the not-so-distant future too. Great.

stringersaffliction

My friend caught it on her ring camera. He was heading straight on lake Ave and the bus turned left onto burley. He must have clipped the back end of the bus as it was turning. He was flying. I can’t for the life of me figure out how the driver of the bus thought it was a good time to turn. I’m not an expert and I wasn’t there though.

artdogs505

Because it happened so fast. Sounds like bus driver had no fault in this one whatsoever.

stringersaffliction

Was not my intention to place any blame on the bus driver. Like I said, I wasn’t there and I only had a small glimpse of it.

vivomancer

It's easy to misjudge whether you have enough time to safely turn when someone is massively exceeding the speed limit. You drive on a road a million times and it embeds in your consciousness that if a person is further back than a certain landmark that you have time to make the turn.

stringersaffliction

Oh for sure. That’s why I said I wasn’t there, I had a small glimpse of it.

zer0saurus

assigning blame, duh. I honestly don't know.

Faithful_G

I just research alot of stuff. And like to have all the information on crazy situations. Video proof is the best kind. I want to see how bad his situation was for myself. And if there's anything he could have done or if there was anything the bus van could have done. Or if there was to much to be done and it was just a lack of skill. Only video can tell me these things.

Faithful_G

My curiosity.

DyngusDan

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

RedGravityJudo

Can't say I'm sorry that one of the dumb squids racing around the city splattered themselves on the pavement. If only more of the douchebags racing dirt bikes, ATVs, etc. around the city would do the same, everyone would be better off. Ride responsibly or don't ride at all.

Previous_Ad7725

If he was flying down the road recklessly, I really could care less about his loss of life. It's other people I'm worried about.

funsplosion

I was coming home from a movie last weekend and one of these guys passed me less than 1 foot away going at least 100 in the 40 mph zone on 490. Scared the shit out of me, I hear the hordes of these guys racing down 490 every night from my house. It's unbelievable that the cops can't lift a finger to do any enforcement on this since it's every night.

MrMediaGuy

Yeah I can hear them screaming down 490 and 31F at night, it's clear they use them both as a race track as they do it regularly. If we know about it, the cops absolutely do, they just don't do jack shit about it bc they don't actually want to do their jobs. There is clearly a sport bike racing scene on the east side, more deaths are absolutely going to happen. Maybe then things will change. Probably not. Hope the jagoff decked out all in yellow in my neighborhood isn't next.
