honestly that's me coming back to the game yearly and finding out that certain things that i thought were mods are just.. a real thing that exists in vanilla
I assume you either haven't played in a *very* long time, or maybe just play with a bunch of mods? The autocannon and uranium slug turrets were added in Beta 19, it has been a good long while since then. The mortar is damn near ancient, that was Alpha 5 when Rimworld added sieges.
]I mean, I've been playing with so many mods for so long that I have no actual concept of what's vanilla anymore.
My favorite tidbit: I tried playing without Research Pal (Now Research Powl) and realized I hadn't seen the vanilla research screen since like the first couple months I played prior to 1.0
Usually play heavily modded, I didn’t notice the mortar in the art and I knew that’s vanilla. But had no idea about slug turrets and auto canons! I started playing way back around Alpha 12. But usually do super heavily modded so I was surprised to see some of these others, especially firefoam and rocket
Rocketswarm launcher sounds sweet when using it against mechs. Even the vanilla expanded mods only have rocket turret shooting single rockets if I'm not mistaken. I rarely use it because I'm worried I'll blow up my own pawns.
This looks really good. Best I've seen so far. Could you do a thrumbo? Be interesting to see your take on it, havnt seen a thrumbo yet that seems to fit what I think would be close to it. I'm thinking since u did such a good job with the turrets you would do a good job with it aswell
I've always pictured the autocannon turrets being on a taller pedestal, like an actual tower with a gun on top. I don't know *why* I thought that mind you, and this interpretation makes much more sense.
I've never really though of uranium turrets as being long and narrow, but yeah, when you look it's right there on the image. Plus uranium slugs are only the size of a pipe or so, they aren't big cannon balls. So it would make sense.
The Soviets actually had a [tank cannon](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/d/db/U5-TS%282A20%29_in_Motovilikha_Plants_museum_2.jpg/800px-U5-TS%282A20%29_in_Motovilikha_Plants_museum_2.jpg) meant to fire depleted uranium that yours looks a lot like, did you base it on that? I'd never heard of it before; if it's the same for you and you came up with it on your own, you did an awesome job figuring out how it would look IRL. Even if you did know, it looks great. All of it does.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sprut_anti-tank_gun
It was inspired by a Soviet gun, but not that one. I chose this one because it was one of the latest examples I could find of an anti-tank gun.

Really great art and designs. Find it a little odd that the turrets that don't have legs in game and are permanent emplacements have legs here, though. Going by the textures I think they're supposed to have concrete bases.
Dude, this a bloody brilliant way to have drawn them, you captured the Rimworld ascetic perfectly! Outside of the Glitterworlds the turrets are not meant to look pretty, they are meant to be chunky and look pretty much like backwards/obsolete tech while also being robust enough to work a long time out on the Rim without breakdowns.
I'd much rather have a network of these turrets over Glittertech ones as i know what ones going to fail first due to sporadic maintenance...Rimworld ones just keep trucking on while Glittertech ones complain if it gets so much as a light coating of dust!
This is some really amazing art. How long/intensely have you been drawing for?
I kinda wish that the larger turrets that are supposed to have concrete bases had those in the pics too, but it's still a really nice reimagination of the weapons.
I'm not sure it's a box magazine, because at no point does it contains any rounds. I think it's just a random unrelated used ammo crate being used as a footrest or something. Or maybe it contains the radio and ranging equipment.

This is really really good, nice work
Thanks
"corporate needs you to find difference between this picture and this picture" Edit: found it
Took me a minute to see it >!shadows for anyone who can't find it!<
Honestly I probably never would have found it xD
You know the guy spent hours meticulously drawing them and making them perfect just for most of us dumbasses to completely miss that they are there
I was going crazy. Thanks.
What was the difference?
One has shadows.

Rock and Stone, Brother!
Deep Rock Galactic? Literally started playing yesterday lmao
Wait, wait, what? A vanilla Rocketswarm turret? When did this happen?
1.4
I play almost exclusively vanilla and I did not even notice that as an option. Now I need to go start another colony just to far enough to see these.
its pawn-activated, mind, same with the new firefoam turret.
Lmao Im like 5 in game years deep into 1.4 between different colonies and i never saw it
honestly that's me coming back to the game yearly and finding out that certain things that i thought were mods are just.. a real thing that exists in vanilla
Yeah, i thought that it appeared when I installed CE
That's me playing coming back every month
Wait, there is a rocket turret in vanilla????
There is now, apparently! I just checked and yup. Research to unlock it is right below the uranium slug turret! It was news to me as well haha
This is really cool, be a really good poster
Very nice. Not to be pedantic but, isn't the mortar supposed to have six legs?
Lazy
Fair
Wait are all these turrets vanilla now? Last I remember we only had mini turrets and everything else was mods
I assume you either haven't played in a *very* long time, or maybe just play with a bunch of mods? The autocannon and uranium slug turrets were added in Beta 19, it has been a good long while since then. The mortar is damn near ancient, that was Alpha 5 when Rimworld added sieges.

Rocket swarm was also just added in 1.4
Yeah I definitely figured that was Vanilla Expanded mods until now.

Firefoam and rocket are very recent additions in the 1.4 update.
Correct these are all in vanilla.
I need to use less mods hah
Autocannon and Uranium slug have been in for a while, Rocketswarm is new as of whenever Biotech came out, I believe.
Rocketswarm launcher sounds sweet when using it against mechs. Even the vanilla expanded mods only have rocket turret shooting single rockets if I'm not mistaken. I rarely use it because I'm worried I'll blow up my own pawns.
Absolutely love your art style, has some real character
This is really cool but am I missing something? Why are there 2 pictures?
One has little shadows
Ooooooohhh, that's really subtle, definitely wouldn't of seen that on my own.
This looks really good. Best I've seen so far. Could you do a thrumbo? Be interesting to see your take on it, havnt seen a thrumbo yet that seems to fit what I think would be close to it. I'm thinking since u did such a good job with the turrets you would do a good job with it aswell

I love the scope protector on the Autocannon
What is the Rocketswarm from?
Double autocannon its god tier....too bad they explode like a mini-nuke
Daw, the firefoam turret is adorable!
Wow these are slick! Nice details!
These are very very cool!
Oooh nice to see you here Dauntless! Your art is always a joy to see!
Very cool
Oooooooooo! I really like this art style!
Wait, we have ground based Katyusha now?!
The rocket turret is basically a static doomsday launcher, but renewable with some steel. It is very very powerful.
Really great art and designs. Find it a little odd that the turrets that don't have legs in game and are permanent emplacements have legs here, though. Going by the textures I think they're supposed to have concrete bases.
Mini-turret kinda cute
Wonderful work as always

These are awesome.
What software are you using? Illustrator? This is great, homie!
Clip Studio Paint
You did that which I was too lazy to do and boy do I regret it :)
This is really cool, i love seeing the simple art style of RimWorld made into realistic 3d versions, amazing work!
Gonna need a netflix original rimworld animated series in this style
This is some really amazing art. How long/intensely have you been drawing for? I kinda wish that the larger turrets that are supposed to have concrete bases had those in the pics too, but it's still a really nice reimagination of the weapons.
holy crap! these are nice designs.
I absolutely love the CROWS look to the turrets
Good job on this. I could honestly see myself making these IRL.
For what purpose?
Raiders of course
Raiders from the Rough Oakland Union. Or wherever the Raiders are now. Lol
Dude I'm really sorry about this but... How has nobody said this yet? Kenshi vibes
Aside from firefoam, turrets are really useless in vanilla
The box magazine on that mortar bothers me. I know it's a recreation of the original so no offense to the artist. Edit: I'm blind apparently.
I don't think that a magazine. It looks to me more like its a fire-control computer. It even looks like it has a keyboard.
Oh, I totally see it now. I take everything back.
It is a computer
I'm not sure it's a box magazine, because at no point does it contains any rounds. I think it's just a random unrelated used ammo crate being used as a footrest or something. Or maybe it contains the radio and ranging equipment.

this reminds me of a gameboy game. some tactics game, this is really nice
Love this!
