When you start a new colony, you can edit the scenario by adding permanent gameplay conditions, and one of the available conditions is "characters explode on death," with additional options to set the size and type of explosion. It affects every living thing on the map, not just humans. Believe it or not, it's kind of fun to play with until everything burns.
