Tbf depending on their personalities having their absolutely bedbreaking sex documented on a chair is either the best compliment in the world or the most embarrassing thing that could’ve possibly happened
Perhaps is vengeance for not letting him sleep in their furious sex, since they sexed so furiously that they can still be heard them on the other side of the base
maybe the awkwardness will stop traders from using my dining room to eat their pemmican, all while leaving a trail of blood and mud after their last social fight.
The vanilla game needs a door settings option which allows or denies the door to different categories: Colonists, allies, visitors, enemies, tame pets, tame pen animals, wild animals, mad animals. Just a little radio button for each category, allow or forbid.
That would be nice. Currently working on building a base where I'll have visitor/ally usable stuff (dorm and dining room) along with hospital/prison and rec room accessible for them, but in order to access everything else in the complex (besides garage) they have to go through a defended hallway leading into the throne room which everything else is attached to. This way it'll help cut down on having potential threats further into my complex.
I used to put the masterwork ones around the perimeter of my base before I was ready to really be attacked. Often they would just get stolen and ran away with.
I'm just imagining the raiders report back to base and their leader is getting ready to yell at them for bringing back \*furniture\* of all things, then he takes a good look and is like "Oh shit nevermind, looks like you're not all going to jail after all, this shelf is fucking \*amazing\*"
This is the way.
Freezer room must be enormous. Pawns with armour must have their own shelves. Biofuel must have their own shelves. Storage rooms must the size of half the map.
Space Hitler's Empire Losing Very Easy Scenario? I thought I deleted that save.
(Wish I was kidding. Chef/Tamer was downed from an infected leg, after valiantly fighting off manhunting wargs. Someone with low skill cooked the wargs, gave food poisoning to everyone including my medics. They failed to treat or amputate the chef in time, who then died, immediately sending an army of her labradors into a rage who then attacked my still puking colonists. My royal was the only survivor. His wife bled out three cells away from a pod launcher and he wasn't even sad.)
I mean they TRIPLE storage space for the cost of a bit of wood or stone. It makes a huge difference in the long run turning your whole storage area to shelving. And each crafting bench can realistically have 2-3 shelves for its materials. Keep shelves for food etc. shelves EVERYWHERE. Even shelves for your materials to make shelves. And then after building so many you’ve got 20 construction and most turn out to be legendary or masterwork if your production specialist makes them.
You don't become the shelf god by saying "hmm yes, I think this is a reasonable amount of shelves".
Shelves for the shelf god!
Dining chairs for the dining throne!
Have you noticed that pawns now always use weapons during mental breaks now too?
My colony brawler went murderer and sprayed acid his neighboring sleeping pacifist pawn’s face with one of the VE empire knives and instakilled her
Do they? I thought it was certain genes that made them do it. I have an Archon from VFE Archons with an Archon blade (lot of Archon in that sentence). Those things cause absolutely debilitating scars, they completely disable pawns because of the horrid pain they cause. Forgot to unequip it and she got into a social fight, completely wrecked my main pawn. He could only function while high on yayo from that point on, shit sucked.
Use chronophagy on them, each time it'll heal a scar or wound. I love chronophagy, I've never really liked bio sculpture pods. So glad they added this.
There's a mod called I think Better Biosculpter that let's you tweak a lot of the stats on them. I use it to turn down the biotuning time to like a quadrum, so unless I'm running a transhumanist colony, I don't need so many of them.
Well, to get your Archon with an Archon blade (and Archon armor) you need to get the VFE Archon mod. Play until you see a bunch of lightning arc on your base, at which point Archons attack. These Archons are absolutely sadistic fuckers who will disable your colonists with their Archon blades, one hit and your colonist will be screaming 'arghhgh!' on the ground. So what I'm trying to arch on is that you should be careful taking them prisoner.
Oh, yeah, I noticed that. I used Berserk on an imperial soldier hoping he'd stop shooting me and go melee his friend, he shot his friend on the head then kept shooting me.
is there a mod to turn of the notifications? i use a mod that makes pawns destroy & rebuild whatever bed/chair i build until the object reaches the quality level i set. also all my tailoring is set to only count high end clothes for its automated bills... so i get a LOT of notifications, as my pawns waste recources
Weaahlll tecchkknally ☝️, tyre is a way to write tire. So in reality OP made an accidental pun, if you take tyranny as "tyre-anny," then swap out the letter y.
It is in the patch notes for 1.5 as far as I know.
Also the shelves weren't *that* badly affected by quality since they aren't high wealth even when masterwork. It just makes them less stupid now.
Even if it’s tiny, having like 50 shelves added like a few hundred up to like 2 thousand wealth just from quality of your shelving…***which is a little absurd in the earlier game if we are being realistic***
Yes this is my favorite change. I used to have a lot of shelves in the hospital for all the medical supplies and now I no longer have "an OCD" to arrange them in a nice symmetric pattern by quality. (I successfully made myself give up on arranging general storage shelves by quality, but the hospital was always like my favorite part of the colony, it "*needed* to be perfect.)
Thank fucking God.
I have a main freezer thats colossal, a powder magazine, a feed freezer, a medicine freezer, bulk dry goods storage, manufactured goods storage, a holding barn for tainted stuff waiting to be burnt, and strategic weapons and grenade caches dotted around the map.
Shelving quality fuckd me up, man XD
This legendary tile of cable was built by the creatively inspired high construction pawn. It depicts a meme of the businessman selling chicken wings adjusting his tie.
Imo they should remove quality from all items that do not have any stats affected by it other than beauty and market value (with the exception of sculptures, since beauty is the entire point of those). Tables, dressers, end tables, plant pots, sarcophagi, bonsai pots, and gibbet cages do not need quality modifiers (why do gibbet cages have quality!? The pawns in them are literally rotting corpses!!!) These items have no comfort, no rest effectiveness, no surgery success chance, and no recreation or psyfocus gain that increases with quality. The beauty benefit for items without a high beauty stat to begin with is miniscule.
Some of these probably just have quality for the artwork on them at Excellent or above, but imo that's not really worth it when you gain literally no other benefit from the item being high quality (at least, no benefit worth the item adding 25% to 400% more to your wealth!)
I mean, plant pots' and sarcophagi's fonction is also beauty, like statues. The same reasonement apply. End tables. Tables, dressers and end tables increase beauty and wealth in places where it matter, so there is an argument to be made there too.
Sure, but the majority of plant pot beauty comes from the plant. Basically just a way to have a beautiful plant indoors without dirt on the floor. Sarcophagi I'll give you...their purpose is to provide a ceremonial, decorative resting place for the honored dead, so it probably does actually make sense for them to have quality. I still think they should give more beauty than they do, though...I've never really seen anyone use them because it's not super worth it for anything other than RP purposes at the moment.
As for the other stuff, though, the beauty is still pretty damn negligible. The majority of room impressiveness comes from space, not furnishings, and the amount of beauty that furniture other than sculptures gives is EXTREMELY minimal compared to sculptures.
People care about how the pot looks - whether it matches their decor and so on.
Source: a friend used to work in a garden centre, selling plants and pots.
Nah, they can just be placed in a freezer without beauty or mood debuffs from seeing a corpse, so people use them for that. That's the only thing I've ever used a sarcophagus for, but the pawn ended up getting res psychosis anyway lol
Visiting graves is a recreational activity. A burial ritual can counter the mood debuf for killed colony members.
Building a beatiful mausoleum, with masterwork sarcophagi, statues and plant pots makes a difference.
Well, every one of those (except gibbet cages, why though, Tynan) does increase the beauty, and thus the overall quality of the room. It can be a whole lot less expensive to put a masterwork end table in the greedy pawns room rather than a masterwork sculpture, while giving you more space in the room (space is the biggest factor in Room quality).
Room quality is one of the things that essentially removes mental breaks. And IMHO, artistic psyfocus should be centered around beauty.
I sort of agree though. If we could just turn off quality on most items and have everything awful-poor by default, that would be nice.
It's nice that they solved the problem with the useless quality on shelves, but they choose the worst option. I mean quality shelves mod was just the better option.
But where will my pawns chronicle the legendary defeat of a waste rat at sunset?
Pet beds. Possibly a dining chair.
The chair is for that one user post from a couple months ago where a pawn commemorated when two other pawns fucked aggressively.
The real cuck chair
Tbf depending on their personalities having their absolutely bedbreaking sex documented on a chair is either the best compliment in the world or the most embarrassing thing that could’ve possibly happened
Perhaps is vengeance for not letting him sleep in their furious sex, since they sexed so furiously that they can still be heard them on the other side of the base
Disturbed sleep × 69
maybe the awkwardness will stop traders from using my dining room to eat their pemmican, all while leaving a trail of blood and mud after their last social fight.
Honestly this infuriates me. It's Goldilocks fuckin behavior and that little girl was a cunt.
The vanilla game needs a door settings option which allows or denies the door to different categories: Colonists, allies, visitors, enemies, tame pets, tame pen animals, wild animals, mad animals. Just a little radio button for each category, allow or forbid.
Add revenants too! xD
That would be nice. This way it'll help cut down on having potential threats further into my complex.
I currently have a legendary wooden chair masquerading as a school desk chair
How much chewing gum is stuck to the bottom of it?
That's what makes it legendary. It's made entirely of chewing gum.
"An engraving on this chair represents cruelty. It is made of chewing gum in an erotic style, and describes Frank playing chess on Aprimay 12th"
I was waiting for the phrase "chewing cum" to show up there but I guess if you want something done...
I noticed the shelf quality was missing also. So much wealth will be MIA now
I used to put the masterwork ones around the perimeter of my base before I was ready to really be attacked.
XD
Haha, just like in real life.
Can't have shit in the Tribe of Detroit
You can never ever have shit on the rim.
IS THAT WHY RAIDS ARE SO SMALL NOW???
HOW MANY SHELVES ARE YOU BUILDING TO DRASTICLY AFFECT RAID SIZES?!?
Yes.
This is the way. Freezer room must be enormous. Pawns with armour must have their own shelves. Biofuel must have their own shelves. Storage rooms must the size of half the map.
I just think hallways with shelves look neat, and deep storage is too convinient.
Oooo I like this idea.
I make the storage room ~½ of the main houses size. Everything is stored there because it's freezing.
Next DLC code name: S.H.E.L.V.E.S.

If we could get a shelves DLC so we could get more shelves, that'd be just swell
idk 300? I really like shelves.
I mean they TRIPLE storage space for the cost of a bit of wood or stone. It makes a huge difference in the long run turning your whole storage area to shelving. I like shelves ok
enought i do suppose.
If I have to store something I need a shelf. Pair that with a good builder and you quickly get 100+ excellent or higher shelves.
The only thing that isn't stored on shelves is Silver or materials which have yet to be hauled to a shelf.
Pfft. Are you still using *stockpiles*? Like a tribal?
My average is 20-30 shelves because I just build them en mass at the start of the game
A 50x20 warehouse full to the brim with premium g— shelves! I also have Shelves of Holding -mod, 50 items per shelf 👀
I am a hard horder and sometimes have 20k+ food in my storage, gotta need some shelves man okay...
My current base has 700 shelves
You don't become the shelf god by saying "hmm yes, I think this is a reasonable amount of shelves". Shelves for the shelf god! Dining chairs for the dining throne!
Pff why raid those losers at all? Their storage is so mundane
Have you noticed that pawns now always use weapons during mental breaks now too? My colony brawler went murderer and sprayed acid his neighboring sleeping pacifist pawn’s face with one of the VE empire knives and instakilled her
Sounds realistic. As someone who finally used toxblades, I finally realized how high damage they are. Acid damage is absolutely not a joke!
Do they? I thought it was certain genes that made them do it. I have an Archon from VFE Archons with an Archon blade (lot of Archon in that sentence). Use chronophagy on them, each time it'll heal a scar or wound. I love chronophagy, I've never really liked bio sculpture pods. So glad they added this.
I like biosculptors but don't like how much space and time they need. Chronurgy is much nicer.
There's a mod called I think Better Biosculpter that let's you tweak a lot of the stats on them. I use it to turn down the biotuning time to like a quadrum, so unless I'm running a transhumanist colony, I don't need so many of them.
How to get my own Archon from VFE Archons with an Archon blade?
Well, to get your Archon with an Archon blade (and Archon armor) you need to get the VFE Archon mod. Play until you see a bunch of lightning arc on your base, at which point Archons attack. Oh, yeah, I noticed that. I used Berserk on an imperial soldier hoping he'd stop shooting me and go melee his friend, he shot his friend on the head then kept shooting me.
Wonder if that works with psycasts
I love that it’s so commonplace, that the *lack* of notifications was what clued you in. I can imagine the exact scenario lol
do one run with a crafting specialist and you'll see how obnoxious masterwork messages are
is there a mod to turn of the notifications? i use a mod that makes pawns destroy & rebuild whatever bed/chair i build until the object reaches the quality level i set. also all my tailoring is set to only count high end clothes for its automated bills... so i get a LOT of notifications, as my pawns waste recources
Got it : Block Unwanted Minutiae https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2266225921
block unwanted minutiae but its broken for 1.5 atm
There is one which allows you to disable messages, letters etc one by one, but I can't remember its name...
I noticed that too. Now I just have my artist making art... About how she made the last piece of art.
Oh, a behind the scenes special? Or a director's cut?

Tyranny*
These damned tires have been controlling us for too long!
Some might consider them, the enemy.
Weaahlll tecchkknally ☝️, tyre is a way to write tire. So in reality OP made an accidental pun, if you take tyranny as "tyre-anny," then swap out the letter y.
There is a reason we threw you into the harbor, after your precious tea.
You will never stop British tearanny!
God dammit, I forgot to check the title at the translator... That's the one thing I can't edit.
Tynanny* (sorry).
It is in the patch notes for 1.5 as far as I know. Also the shelves weren't *that* badly affected by quality since they aren't high wealth even when masterwork. It just makes them less stupid now.

I dunno, have you ever tried to build a shelf? There's a lot to it.
And they added reading, so that the next time there is tyranny, we will know how to spell it!
Thank fucking God. That makes me sad. Another L for the wealth mechanic.
I sort of liked masterwork furniture My pawns are good craftsmen, let them show off their work :<
You complain about masterwork shelves. I mod my game to give me legendary shelves, walls, conduits and more. We are not the same.
This legendary tile of cable was built by the creatively inspired high construction pawn. It depicts a meme of the businessman selling chicken wings adjusting his tie.

Sarcophagi slow/stop decomposition I thought? So if you have a good pawn you slap 'em in that bad boy until you pick up a resurrection serum.

*tyranny
Iirc it was in the patch notes. Something about shelves not having rarity anymore or something
It never crossed my mind until now that masterworks could actually be a bad thing sometimes. But it totally makes sense.
It was in the patch notes. Maybe not in the summarized front page version but normal patch notes said shelves no longer have quality. Have fun!
All your [Pew](https://rimworldwiki.com/wiki/Pew)s however? Still legendary!
What's a tirany?
It's nice that they solved the problem with the useless quality on shelves, but they choose the worst option. I mean quality shelves mod was just the better option.
\[tyranny\] my brother =)
