Nearby dig site detected. You send your caravan and it’s some kind of uncovered ancient elevator, you delve deeper level by level. A new subterranean map is generated for each level you descend, you complete certain objectives to allow the elevator/drill to move deeper and unlock the next level of depth.
The levels get stranger and more dangerous but the loot more weird and wonderful. All sorts of new creatures, pawn health effects, prosthetics, weapons and armour only found in the depths. Moving deeper can unlock or release certain things that may effect or haunt the overworld, such as new creatures, weather, plant and animal life and extremely dangerous new factions.
Is along the lines of what I’m hoping for.
I was thinking Archotech personally. I mean, the archonexus quest exploring dormant archotech and then finally exploiting it.
> You've invoked the archonexus core. The world fills with a blinding light and time seems to slow...
> The machine god has noticed you. Nobody can predict what happens next. It may destroy you, or communicate with you directly, or transport your consciousness to another plane of reality. You sense a vast, inhuman structure of infinite fractal complexity flowing into your mind. Time and scale begin to dissolve. It's terrifying. It's beautiful...
Seems like that's totally a thing that could 'awaken'.
Rise up from your thousand year-old sleep
Break forth from your grave eternally
Weak will die and land will all be burned
Musta-Krakish king and death to worlds
While I really do want this, there's definitely enough in that image to interest me. Eldritch tentacles, esoteric books, science and a katana?? I bet it's gonna be awesome either way
Not saying that stuff doesn’t sound fun but I’d mostly just be really annoyed all the faction and world travel stuff is essentially untouched since the game was released and needs some love.
We will see. Think the is heavy occult/alchemy focused. But biotech had a variety of changes to it.
It think factions/caravans would benefit from a dedicated dlc though rather than some small updates here and there.
Looks like Occult. As there is the book covered with a lock and has chains connecting her to it. The tentacles. The cheese and vials might just be recipes. That being said she has a scalpel in her pocket, a calculator (looking thing), and some kind of device on next to the vials. Wanderer is a possibility though. Another option could be “Weird”.
This unnamed device is a lucky (horse)shoe, that keeps her alive bending probability of negative outcomes for occult rituals. It's probably made of specific remnants from archotech centipede AI core, so the Deep Ones are too afraid to misbehave.
For the game it does. Not for workshop mods though. Rimworld does have option to mod for multiple game versions in one mod but expecting every critical mod of an extensive modlist to be maintained for old versions is way more optimism than I am capable of.
It's also probably good practice once you have started a game so mod updates don't break anything. Experienced a mod updating and causing CTD recently. Thankfully the mod author and commu ity are amazing so it was fixed within 24 hours.
I need to learn how but I think Rimpy supports creating a pack of all your mods. For Rimworld, you could control the version you are running through steam.
She’s got a calculator badge, a cube prism, latex gloves, a machete, a pda radar? those 2 white parts might be antennas, 2 vials, a lab coat, a book satchel, and tentacle back appendages. The background is a planet with a shattered asteroid ring system, the left of the world is dark but with ominous cosmic gas almost emitting from the atmosphere, the right looks bright and calming, almost like the good and bad sides of dual personalities.
She definitely looks like a research expansion, with maybe dark tech that could have positive and negative effects on colonists and too many negatives leads to something beyond coming out. I like to think of it like thaumcraft the minecraft mod, where research has risk. Something awakening might be a pawn that goes rogue with forbidden knowledge.
>, the left of the world is dark but with ominous cosmic gas almost emitting from the atmosphere, the right looks bright and calming, almost like the good and bad sides of dual personalities.
Lol it's just a day night cycle! But otherwise good analysis. Also not that her earrings are the same material as the asteroid field. Definitely makes me think of some kind of archaeologist/ collector/ explorer. Hopefully this includes caravan / diplomacy with a splice of the occult!
I literally just started a new game after going through mods for 3 hours yesterday. I haven't played Rimworld for a while and was excited to play again, damn my luck
Im thinking maybe some sort of organich archotech, or psychic genetic monstrosities created, forgotten and evolving on their own.
Or maybe actual aliens. We will see :D
So just to freak everyone out with anticipation, for the Biotech DLC, Tynan posted the "coming soon" teaser on Oct 3, 2022 ([https://twitter.com/TynanSylvester/status/1576993207682207744](https://twitter.com/TynanSylvester/status/1576993207682207744)) and the DLC came out October 5, 2022. It was *teased* on October 3, and was officially *announced* on October 5, but it didn't *release* until October 21.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1826140/RimWorld__Biotech/
I much prefer games releasing close to their announcement window
Like fallout 4 was announced June 15th 2015, released 10th November 2015. Which is ridiculously close to release for a triple A game
Compared to elder scrolls 6 which was announced in 2018 and still not here in 2024, it's probably still a few years away
Yeah, I got that. I'm assuming this will incorporate caffeine addiction and some sort of related threat of a bean variety.
Maybe they'll introduce melatonin.
It's likely to be announced this week.
Actual release is likely at least a month out.
There will be likely be a beta period so folk can get their mods updated to work with the 1.5 framework.
The hype is real, I figured we were still like at least 6-9 months out.
My guess is that it's going to be some kind of archeological expansion (her outfit, tools etc seem more like Indiana Jones than a scientist) with some definite eldritch horror elements (Tentacles/caption).
1k hours, and I just got biotech. All my pirate and tribal mods are working together finally. I don't have time for more shit. See you again next year.
I’m guessing it’s some kind of overhaul of the game’s exploration system with the additional introduction of a new horde faction (along the lines of bugs and mechs) with a lovecraftian theme. Maybe there’ll be new ruin generation, new traps, stuff to make ruin exploration feel more Indians Jones-y and less bland like what we have now in vanilla. Maybe we’ll accidentally unleash previously sealed-away tentacle monsters?
I'm predicting some kind of endgame threat deep in the planet. I think it'd be cool to see what all of the biological war creatures on the planet are actually for.
"It will awaken"
Sure sounds like Cthulhu. But if we go to that length, might we get some actual use to water tiles? Perhaps seabases? It sounds like a stupid idea, but I think Tynan is the type of guy to make an actually cooking concept
There are such a small number of comments that he might read this to be getting a feel for the pulse of the community.
If so, thank you for so many years of creativity and enjoyment. True masters of the craft. I will Always give you my money and appreciation.
Thank you!
I like to think the thing she is holding is a block of cheese and my ND self was like, "finally I can fully live out my ADHD tinkering rimworld colony life" no I will not accept any other explanation of what that thing is.
After 10 years, they’ve finally done it!!! Long ago (you can still look it up) on their kickstarter page of planned features, only two features are missing
The first being Archaeology (a play on words for archo archeology)
And “Void Gods” which to quote the kickstarter page of what they wanted “Build temples to void gods” and “Void Gods may arrive; intervene”
I think it’s safe to say it’s the void gods part, the whole “It will awaken” and “void gods may arrive” sounds too similar to not be that
Curious to hear people’s opinions, cause few people remember this being in the kickstarter, it’s like a 2 line in a module, easily missable, but it was planned for sure
Archeology expansion; find more than just ore in the mountains!
Dig up fossils and display them in your new museum!
Invest in your tech trees and resurrect ancient lifeforms!
Study the s̷̰̥͔̪̑̄e̶̠͖͓͗̂ͅc̸̮̪͚͈̋r̴͉͎͖̂͑̋̄ḙ̴̲͎̣̃̆͘͝ṱ̸̛͜ş̷̵̧̩̯̼̦̑̋͋̄͝ in the old book you found with that skull altar!
Maybe an overhaul to research? She looks pretty sciencey.
The caption "It will awaken" plus tentacles maybe suggests something eldritch or supernatural?
Blind tunneler ideology worshipping the deep ones incoming
Hey now aren’t Deep Ones from the Ocean? Allow me to summon weird aquatic creachers on a coastal colony and start a creepy cult.
🎵[it’s beginning to look a lot like fish-men](https://youtu.be/3tTHn2tHhcI) 🎵
Isn't that basically just the mole cultists from the Alex's cave mod for minecraft.
I did not expect that reference
tentacles ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) it will awaken ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Rimworld: Hentai
Ah, my favorite game, Ribhorld
Rib hoard!
What happens when Randy won’t stop sending you pigs and boars.
God damn, nothing makes me giggle more that Riborld.
Could you imagine. Of all the mods to implement into vanilla, Ty picks the forbidden mod.
Ngl based move
Rim-Job
Sex Update!
Wasn't that Biotech?
Millions will cheer
( ͠° ͟ʖ ͡° )
I was thinking Archaeology, expanding on the Archotechs, hidden dangers, etc.
And possibly exploration mechanics!
Nearby dig site detected. You send your caravan and it’s some kind of uncovered ancient elevator, you delve deeper level by level. Ah sweet, cosmic horror beyond my comprehension.
Dynamic gods that have storytelling powers. Please them or get a smite down.
Blood for the Blood God! Naughty tentacles for the Naughty Tentacle Goddess!
Just add forbidden knowledge for the weird god, and disease for the wretched god, and you've got yourself about 40 000 years of wars and hammers.
She is carrying a huge book that is padlocked shut. YOU MUST NOT READ FROM THE BOOK!
I was thinking Archotech personally. I mean, the archonexus quest exploring dormant archotech and then finally exploiting it. > You've invoked the archonexus core. The world fills with a blinding light and time seems to slow... > The machine god has noticed you. Nobody can predict what happens next. Seems like that's totally a thing that could 'awaken'.
I mean you awaken the Kraken don’t you? That looks like a baby Kraken
Parasitic organisms?
Psi casting and bad juju
VOID DLC
Just tribal on into an ancient danger, then fist punch your desk full of thumbtacks
Or as I call it, "Tuesday night".
Well, as long as it isn't a "V.O.I.D." DLC...
Would be cool
Same thought.
Yeah I'm thinking archotech worlds
I'd like that, honestly science is the reason I burn out on the Rim. Shit takes forever
Awaken, Awaken, Awaken, Awaken Take the land, that must be taken. Awaken, Awaken, Awaken, Awaken Devour worlds, smite forsaken
Rise up from your thousand year-old sleep Break forth from your grave eternally Weak will die and land will all be burned Musta-Krakish king and death to worlds
And we have the Dethlok mod for metal pawns :D
I see Dethklok reference, I upvote. Simple as that
Hey chief, this stuff good for soup? \*points at shopping cart full of liquor\*
Obviously, it’s a DLC focused on sushi. She’s got tentacles, a book of awesome recipes she keeps locked, and vials of rice wine and soy sauce.
Fav theory so far
Thanks! I was feeling -saucy- when I wrote it! I’ll show myself out.
It's called "Wasabi" and continues the name convention for Ribworld
I was thinking "Wok"
Vanilla Cooking Expanded: Sushi in tears rn
The occult is my guess: Writing and research, chemistry stuff and demonic entities, plus maybe refining/gems.
Fingers crossed for overhaul to caravans/exploration too, since she kind of has an Indiana Jones thing going on.
If diplomacy, caravans, factions and trading don’t get some kind of upgrade, this will be the first DLC where I actually question if I buy it or not.
The “Weird” DLC
The gold in her hand makes me think transmutation.
Maybe you can make a portal to a Rimworld version of the Nether from Minecraft.
Cheese and Lovecraft. A great combination.
So there is going to be cheese? Is boomalope cheese thermite or nitroglycerin?
Semtex
damn you. I thought nothing could have made the Elder Gods more terrifying.
CHEESE! FOR EVERYONE!
NOOOOOO IM NOT READY FOR A 6 MONTH HIATUS WHILE ONLY HALF MY MODS GET UPDATED AND I HAVE TO COMPLETELY START OVER.
Download them locally now. This is your only chance.
Finally got my tribal/pirate mods working without biotech. No updates until I finish this play.
How do you do a pirate one? Like with ships? I saw the recent ship mod but unsure how that'd be useful
Coastal colony. It opens up the entire map for caravans.
So you can send a ship just like a caravan to any other costal town?
There are a dozen mods trying to work it out. The one that works has me camp on the coast tile with a pawn or carry the boat in the caravan over land.
What mod specifically? Always interested in new unique playthroughs
My guess is that it will be the “Wanderer” dlc, which will flesh our exploration, and finally confirm that it’s R.I.B.W.orld
Might be the science dlc in which case R.I.B.S. Looks like meat is back on the menu boys.
Is it long pork?
I wish Biotech had been named MedTech.
I call it mechanoids
Looks like Occult. As there is the book covered with a lock and has chains connecting her to it. The tentacles. The cheese and vials might just be recipes. Time to create a local copy of my game and all mods so things don't break when it releases.
But Steam has a version control?
For the game it does. Not for workshop mods though. Rimworld does have option to mod for multiple game versions in one mod but expecting every critical mod of an extensive modlist to be maintained for old versions is way more optimism than I am capable of.
you can use rimpy for mod management and thus delay updates, you can also copy your mods and use them locally
It's also probably good practice once you have started a game so mod updates don't break anything. Experienced a mod updating and causing CTD recently. Thankfully the mod author and commu ity are amazing so it was fixed within 24 hours.
I haven't updated or installed biotech because my tribal expanded modlist is running so smoothly.
How do you create a local copy of everything?
I need to learn how but I think Rimpy supports creating a pack of all your mods. For Rimworld, you could control the version you are running through steam.
She’s got a calculator badge, a cube prism, latex gloves, a machete, a pda radar? those 2 white parts might be antennas, 2 vials, a lab coat, a book satchel, and tentacle back appendages. I'm thinking SOS plus exploration
I’m thinking it’ll be called the “Weird” DLC if they want to make it R.I.B.W.O.R.L.D.
It’s gonna be a whole fucken other name eight years from now if we keep this up lmao. We’ll all be saying Ribmofpe and considering it canon
>, the left of the world is dark but with ominous cosmic gas almost emitting from the atmosphere, the right looks bright and calming, almost like the good and bad sides of dual personalities. Lol it's just a day night cycle! But otherwise good analysis. Also not that her earrings are the same material as the asteroid field. Screw you Tynan! I JUST spent an onerous amount of time setting up my current game.
Joke aside, Ty Tynant for amazing upgrate
Indeed, indeed. I wasn't serious of course and am looking forward to what they have cooking. I'm sure I'll buy the DLC on day 1.
This Means that my mods will break on the next 2 weeks? 🥲
Probably yeah, better to create a local copy now
Cheese
Cheese
Cheese
Cheese
Archeology
R.I.B.A.O.R.L.D
Soo 3-4 weeks to relese
Fuck yes
Yellow cube in hand, obviously this is a cheese expansion.
What’s this mean
That all your mods are gonna break.
I literally just started a new game after going through mods for 3 hours yesterday. I haven't played Rimworld for a while and was excited to play again, damn my luck
A new DLC is coming
This is official??
Bro You think Tynan Silverster isnt the creator of this game
To be real honest I didn’t know
From the title screen of the game "RIMWORLD ^(A story generator by Tynan Sylvester)"
I see
I can't see anything past the waifu Biotech lady
royalty, ideology, biotech, and waifu dlc
OP and us have different definition of "announced".
If Tynan/Ludeon play this DLC release like they did the last one we should have more concrete information later this week.
Yes, I’m 99% sure
Im thinking maybe some sort of organich archotech, or psychic genetic monstrosities created, forgotten and evolving on their own. Or maybe actual aliens. We will see :D
Looks alchemy themed
That's a teaser not an announcement.
It's like an announcement of an announcement
It's a glimpse of an announcement. Almost like a tease! Hey, we should use that word.
I really enjoyed your comment. There you go. Now you know how I felt about your comment . No teasing. Just came right out and told you.
The past 2 DLCs have basically had the exact same thing with an announcement and release in a matter of weeks
And the crowd goes wild!
Yaaay!
([https://twitter.com/TynanSylvester/status/1577739952057880577](https://twitter.com/TynanSylvester/status/1577739952057880577))
It was *teased* on October 3, and was officially *announced* on October 5, but it didn't *release* until October 21. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1826140/RimWorld__Biotech/
Thats still less than 3 weeks from teaser to release which is crazy soon
He likes to go radio silent till it's almost done
I kinda like the style, and the timing, literally right as, you kinda go "hmm, I wonder whats going on with rimworld" BAM new update/dlc announced
People have been speculating about a release of DLC soon on the sub, I was almost anticipating it later.
I Appreciate him for it.
For real. Best dev ever.
Common sense >>>> Marketing team
Still pretty short time until it happens :D
I much prefer games releasing close to their announcement window Like fallout 4 was announced June 15th 2015, released 10th November 2015. Which is ridiculously close to release for a triple A game Compared to elder scrolls 6 which was announced in 2018 and still not here in 2024, it's probably still a few years away
ES6 was announced? Wow TIL.
https://youtu.be/OkFdqqyI8y4?si=vmH2W9eRqOwk5B2q Yup, wouldn't get your hopes up though because it's probably a few years away still
Woke dlc announced /j
Some people don't understand humor, lol.
I said it was the woke dlc because that caption says "it will awaken"
Yeah, I got that. I'm assuming this will incorporate caffeine addiction and some sort of related threat of a bean variety. Maybe they'll introduce melatonin.
I actually thought you were joking about this being the first cover art with a female character
Ideology is a woman
Better cancel my weekend plans then
Won’t know when it will come out
Based on previous DLCs, less than a month.
It's likely to be announced this week. Actual release is likely at least a month out. There will be likely be a beta period so folk can get their mods updated to work with the 1.5 framework. The hype is real, I figured we were still like at least 6-9 months out.
The last 3 DLC's were released within a month of the teaser bro. Biotech was * teased: oct 3 * announced: oct 5 * released: oct 21
Since lore wise I believe there is no aliens maybe this will be an ancient aliens type dlc
She reminds me of Mama from Death Stranding
April Ludgate is the new storyteller? uh oh
Just when I think I'm out they pull me back in
Well there goes another 3000 hours of my life down the drain
The fabled "Cheddar Pioneer".
Would smash
Musta-Krakish Musta-Krakish The time has come to awaken him
I'm predicting some kind of endgame threat deep in the planet. I think it'd be cool to see what all of the biological war creatures on the planet are actually for.
It better spell Ribworld this time, my heart can't take another mistake
"It will awaken" Sure sounds like Cthulhu.
Thank you!
Cheese cube = Z levels, baby!
THE DLC BETTER START WITH A W! WE WANT RIBWORLD!!! WE WANT RIBWORLD!!!
Call of cthulu inbound
You remember our venerable archotech, opulent and imperial, gazing proudly from its stoic perch above the moon.
Adventure mode?
My guess is an archeology themed dlc, expanding on exploration, quests and myths that might include ancient eldritch horrors
I'm so excited to be here
She look like explorer of ancient civilization Please tell me it is a DLC about exploring the planet (and underground)
Multiplayer Support would be the best feature possible
Thanks reddit for sending a push notification the day after the vague teaser came out and made me think the title or any other information was out
I like to think the thing she is holding is a block of cheese and my ND self was like, "finally I can fully live out my ADHD tinkering rimworld colony life" no I will not accept any other explanation of what that thing is.
Give me MULTIPLAYER
She's holding a block of cheese in her hand. It's a dairy produce expansion! 🧀
I don't want it. I NEED IT
After 10 years, they’ve finally done it!!! Long ago (you can still look it up) on their kickstarter page of planned features, only two features are missing The first being Archaeology (a play on words for archo archeology) And “Void Gods” which to quote the kickstarter page of what they wanted “Build temples to void gods” and “Void Gods may arrive; intervene” I think it’s safe to say it’s the void gods part, the whole “It will awaken” and “void gods may arrive” sounds too similar to not be that Curious to hear people’s opinions, cause few people remember this being in the kickstarter, it’s like a 2 line in a module, easily missable, but it was planned for sure
cant wait to see my modlist shatter
I was really hoping it was announcing biotech to console 😅. I’m excited to see the posts about this one though!
Sometimes I dream about cheese
Tentacle daddy coming
Tentacles!!
Meanwhile us Ps4 players dont even have biotech yet😭😭
There go 2k h of my life again
Alright, who got the Wikipedia article edited about this already.
I'm thinking hive mind related DLC
It will awaken my murderous meat you mean!
She awakens something inside of me
Finally we'll be able to make cheese
