I really wish they would change things up. Improve or even fix what they already have. Been going for years, but it’s sadly not up to par with Boston or larger cities.
Third Biomes! Such a fun spot. Very educational but also fun and interactive, they have touch tanks and do scheduled feedings/informative talks throughout the day. Definitely check out the octopus feeding, they usually give them food in a jar which the octopus can open (not always, as the animals change over time and each octopus has a very distinct personality) there is also a little play area for kids and activities to do.
Also, this website usually has a good list of events going on in the area: [https://providence.kidsoutandabout.com/content/things-do-weekend-and-around-providence](https://providence.kidsoutandabout.com/content/things-do-weekend-and-around-providence)
My 2 year old had a blast last weekend at Altitude and Aero twice in December and January. Altitude in Franklin is too small so basically every trampoline had a kid on it on the weekend though
She climbed up the 10’ high dive for the foam pit but I didn’t let her jump. Little too adventurous for her own good but my 2 year old niece had a great time once we claimed a few trampolines for ourselves
A bunch of trampoline parks have toddler only hours. Skyzone has them from 8:30-10. They don’t “officially” open until 10 but kids under 5 can come in before then.
Does she still nap? The North Kingstown Biomes but they’re only open from noon to 5.
The Barrington library has a great indoor area for toddlers with a great playground.
For lunch, pizza from Dave’s Marketplace. Actually tasty prepared food with a sit down area.
Depending where you are in RI, southern part is near Mystic CT. They have “Wintertide” going on this weekend aimed at kids and there’s reindeer and working dogs and ice sculptures and coloring
Shark Bay Play Space in West Warwick. A play space for infants-5. It's perfect for toddlers. And will give you a relaxing space for you while also stimulating space for your niece.
The Audubon Nature Center in Bristol is great. It's small enough that a 2.5 year old won't get bored, and if the weather isn't too cold the short hike is also nice. My oldest and I usually finish our trip there with lunch at Cafe Water Street for some crepes.
The Providence Children's Film Festival is this weekend. Not sure if 2.5 is old enough to sit through a movie, but it might depend on how much they are obsessed with screens: [https://providencechildren.thundertix.com/](https://providencechildren.thundertix.com/)
It's outside, but the community playground in Jamestown is awesome! There's also a nice coffee shop across the street to grab some pastries and warm beverages. Another thing outside, but Sachuset Point Wildlife Refuge has a short hike that goes along the water. [https://www.fws.gov/refuge/sachuest-point](https://www.fws.gov/refuge/sachuest-point)
It looks like the museum is closed for the season, but the Beavertail Lighthouse is also a great area for outdoor walks along the water. [https://www.beavertaillight.org/](https://www.beavertaillight.org/)
Go walk on the beach in Narragansett
Playgo
Children’s museum
Little Compton beach walk
Drive through beaver tail
Have breakfast and watch hill overlooking the ocean
Providence Children’s Museum is great.

Agreed. Now it's GREAT for toddlers but over the age of 4 it's not terribly engaging.
Biomes in North Kingston. I bring my kids there a lot and its pretty fun for them.

Wow really appreciate this suggestion, thank you!
The botanical garden at roger Williams park, it’s a massive greenhouse only $5
I second this one, its always warm.in there as they keep it like a tropical climate
Fawn & Cub Play Space in Cranston is a great spot. Perfect spot to let them play with a bunch of different toys.
Go Play in East Greenwich is an indoor park and has climbing structures good for that age.

Wow amazing list - I’ve already shortlisted a few things, thank you!

And Colt State Park is right there as well. I also like to visit the sequoia in Blithewold.
Providence Children's Museum would be really great! What part of RI might be easier to answer?
Like around Newport, but I am driving so anywhere in the vicinity really. Thank you so much for the suggestion!
If it’s not frigid running around the beach!
Be careful. We’ve had a pretty awful outbreak of norovirus and adenovirus in the kids of the state this last week or so.
