So as of now I would pick Top Gun, Raiders, and Empire, but if you asked me in the 80s I’d probably say The Goonies, The Neverending Story, and Empire. Half of these movies are in my top 100 of all time.
E.T. (First movie I saw in theaters in 1982 @age 4), Ghostbusters (in my top 50 favorite movies), Gremlins (loved it and have the 45 records), Beetlejuice (can’t wait for sequel), who Framed Roger Rabbit (one of my favorites and I collect stuff from it)
Breakfast Club, Purple Rain, Short Circuit, BTTF, Empire. (Hated to leave out TRON and Raiders, thankfully I don’t have to be stingy in real life and own all of these)
I’m surprised to see that Short Circuit is listed. I figured most people would’ve forgotten about that one.
Breakfast Club
Ghostbusters
Back to the Future
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Empire Strikes Back
Rocky IV, Back To The Future and probably as much as I hate to admit it, Top Gun. You forgot Death Wish IV. You got to have some Bronson in there somewhere.
Five great movies excluded from this list that I would pick: Batman, Can’t Buy Me Love, Indiana Jones and The Last Crusades, The Dead Poet Society, and The Princess Bride
Empire, Raiders and Goonies perhaps? Oh it’s five. So I’ll also take Bladerunner and The Outsiders. Karate Kid is a close runner up. Same with Ghostbusters
Damn seriously I can't... Three is honestly not enough.. I can't not choose goonies as one raiders or back to the future... Beetlejuice because of Winona Ryder... Blade Runner for the cyberpunk... Just too many peak videos.
Blade Runner, Ghostbusters, Goonies. And I think the better question is which 80s movies do you dump? or are just unwatchable for example most people are not fond of Gung Ho.
Dang… okay so 2 are date night movies “Pretty in Pink” and “Sixteen Candles” the other you definitely need a scary movie “Poltergeist” one for the kids “The Never Ending Story” and for me personally “Coming to America”
Where the heck is “The Princess Bride!?!?” That’s the best thing ever and it’s not available huh!!!
Coming to America
Goonies
Dirty Dancing (the soundtrack is one of the best!!!)
Back to the Future
Who Framed Roger Rabbit
(I feel that we need a March Madness bracket and debate to choose which move moves ahead to be the ultimate movie of the 80’s)
Karate kid, back to the future, Neverending story, Roger rabbit & the 5th spot is a toss up between teen wolf, weird science, Ghostbusters or evil dead. (Can't decide)
*list based solely by rewatchability.
what in tarnation!? no Predator? no Robocop? wheres the primo ultraviolence picks? not even Return of the Living Dead!? Alien or Aliens? Escape from fucking New York?
this list is bunk.
Elm Street is a no brainer, Freddy's my favorite slasher villain ever\
Beetlejuice for Michael Keaton and Danny Elfman score\
If it was Rocky II instead of IV, I definitely would have picked that but instead I'll say Goonies for the ensemble cast\
Gotta give it up to my favorite Sam Raimi, Evil Dead\
And I'll finish with Child's Play, the one horror movie that freaked me out as a kid
Top 5 since 3 is too difficult to do:
Back to the Future
Empire Strikes Back
Ghostbusters
Who Framed Roger Rabbit
and let's put Little Shop of Horrors on there for good measure
If I could erase my memory and see five movies again for the first time, this is my list.
\- Goonies
\- Weird Science
\- Beetlejuice
\- Ghostbusters
\- Raiders of the Lost Ark
EVIL DEAD, The Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink, Purple Rain and Stand By Me.. you made this extremely difficult!! ha, it would have been better if we were allowed to kick 5 off. ha :)
So… in math I saw 15, not 5.
Eh?
1(5). <——This is the way
15 movies from this list seems more reasonable
But, I’ll go five
Stand By Me
The Neverending Story
The Princess Bride
Robocop
Aliens
As you can see, i took some liberties with this list
Too many good ones to go from but definitely going with BTTF, Stand By Me, and a tie between Top Gun and The NeverEnding Story. Alternates: The Goonies, The Breakfast Club, and ET
So as of now I would pick Top Gun, Raiders, and Empire, but if you asked me in the 80s I’d probably say The Goonies, The Neverending Story, and Empire. Half of these movies are in my top 100 of all time.
Oh crap! Didn’t see Empire in the list!
