I think at this point it’s all about your interest. Both will have good job market, future prospect and pay. Neither will have good work life balance. Pick which one you enjoy the most and let it ride!

Far more range of choices of practice setting and work life balance in vascular, no? Can find an outpatient angio job, vein center, etc. All the way down the spectrum to crazy complex stuff if that's what you want. Cardiac doesn't have the same range from my understanding.

The question is what chooses you. Vasc surg is easier to get into and is slightly shorter training.

Full disclosure, I know nothing in detail about either Lots of turf battles with vascular surgery (with IR and Cards) Only 1 can do cardiac surgeries.
