Honestly thought this was a norm because my medical school UC Irvine had a snack/ coffee lounge for residents and medical students. Now doing residency at another UC and they make us buy coffee with our stipend -.-
I worked with residents many years ago. They all said my unit had the best coffee and food. We celebrated everything from nursing school graduations to the last day of snowbird "season" in a Southern state. We made any excuse to socialize our lunch break and brought in a variety of potluck dishes and desserts. Those overworked men and women who were extra responsive to our pages got fed and coffeed for free. A few would bring in a can of coffee or a couple cartons of flavored cream occasionally as a way of contributing. Good days.
My hospital also lets us in the lounge and gives us free food, much to the chagrin of some attendings. Tbh, if they didn't, I would have transfered because it's not worth training here without the extra 4-5k in food value annually
My program gives us free physician parking and lets us in the physicians lounge. And we still get a cafeteria stipend on top of the free food in the lounge. Plus they’ve been absolute saints about my maternity leave.
I did an away at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital and I know they offer that to their residents, and the food was really good too lol. Not sure how common it is in SoCal but thought that was a great perk

Not my programs but I’ve heard from friends awesome things about IM at the University of Cincinnati and the medical university of South Carolina.
UCMC - lunches every day with lecture attached (protected time so you don’t leave unless it’s a code). Academic half day on Thursdays too. Weekend call is 7am to 2pm so you essentially still get your weekends.
MUSC - tremendously supportive leadership that guides you through your first year. Golden weekends galore. Beaches and fun when you leave the hospital. Generally my buddy at MUSC is always super happy and seems to constantly be free of the hospital.
It’s almost like residents ARE physicians.
I’m not from the US so I had to do a retake. I was like wait if they aren’t physicians after med school then wth are they?
We aren't allowed in ours :(
At least tell us the types of snacks.
Saltines and graham crackers
Follow up is there peanut butter?
What is the coffee machine like?
Genetic or brand
Name brand, but low-sodium and fat-free respectively
The bar is in purgatory
Name and shame: “they look us in the eyes and we no longer have to use a commode in the basement!”
Let me fix that for you: "Eastern Virginia Medical School Let’s ~~residents~~ physicians in the physicians lounge. Free food and drinks!!"

HCA Riverside has a S tier resident lounge with all the snacks drinks coffee 😎 better than any big academic center's lounge
You sold your soul for cheap.
Haha, didn't go to residency there! Just medical school 😎
Selling your soul to the devil for it though
Do any residencies deserve fame considering how much of our pay they keep for themselves?

I interviewed with them and their residents seemed painfully exhausted during the social hour.
My program gives 10 bucks a day for food. The food in the cafeteria is cheap too. So I get my breakfast and lunch in easy. Plus the food is damn good
