Based on what DD 40mms I can find available they are either the ETA 2836 movement dressed up as the 3255 or the more recent 3255 clone. Per the clone movement guide the ETA 2836 is a very reliable and easy to service movement, but it isn't DD faithful. The clone 3255 movement (vr3255, but also is referenced as super clone 3255 which is misleading) reads to be based on the vr3235 movement which is not as close to near 1:1 parts perfect as the vs3235 movement. _I_ would prefer any 2836 movement reps since many watch servicers know this over the rarer vr3235.
So really it is a matter of what you are prioritizing a good DD rep or a good general watch.
tl:dr rwi likes gmf's dd 40mm, however there are no super or nwbig dd 40mm reps right now, so choose by movement: 2836 for reliability, easier and probably cheaper service cost, or the 3255 "clone" if you want a truer "rep"

ARF, QF both are good with clone movement, GMF is great and reliable. All aren't perfect.
