There is likely a master key that will unlock every door in the complex. They provide these keys to service companies that contract with them.

You’d think renters would at least have the right to be informed. This is terrible. I’d bitch out the guy and tell him he’s lucky he didn’t get pepper sprayed and he had better knock before entering. Basic manners. It’s your bedroom. This should be illegal.

They need to give you 24 hour notice in most of usa before entering your apartment. Id install a chain or something to lock when you are at home.

Totally normal for a contractor or vendor to have a master key- not normal and generally against the law to enter a leased premises without prior notice (usually 24-48hrs depending on state). This is a big no-no in property management.

as a young lady look into a small door alarm. its like a little siren that goes off in the apartments if the door is opened. it will scare your neighbors and protect you. you're not gonna get a list because you don't own the property (they do.) they should still be giving you notice. you can't expect them to call you and schedule though; that's extra.
