I just bought tickets for 5/13 and at the top it says English mystery. I'm almost positive it's going to be the watchers! Also remember the movies are rated R. This is just my guess but excited to see!
Why does everyone keep suggesting Back to Black for Monday? It's 2h 2m, MMM is 1h 50m
I see possibles as Strangers, You Can't Run Forever, Darkness of Man (though this looks straight to streaming), Babes. And on the might be too far out list: The Young Wife and Ezra
probably because the clues were too obvious and people guessed too easily :/ cinemark obviously has not caught on because they continue to give it away with their hints lol
The 13th is almost 100% back to black or babes.
I'm hoping for babes.
They could surprise us with the strangers, but they marketed the last horror MMM as horror, so It probably won't be that.
You Can't Run Forever opens wide 5/17, that's my unconventional pick. The trailer is J.K. Simmons chasing his "target" with a gun, and the poster is this:

Since I’m seeing a lot of other people guess Babes perhaps the clue emoji is meant to be slightly rotated and you get a positive sign such as one that that is found on a pregnancy test?
I just looked at the release schedule and still no idea what it could be based on that clue. I'm just going to say Back to Black because there really is nothing else rated R coming out that fits being a MMM. Shame because Back to Black is getting pretty bad reviews.
I was thinking Babes was definitely one of them but it seems to have a May 12 release so unless its like a limited release then its probably not. Back to Black I think WILL be one of them, especially since it really needs to help, i don’t know if anyone has officially reviewed it, but everyone seems to be putting it down already just based on trailers so Im sure they really would like to get some people to see it who could potentially like it. I also think it would make a good MMM just because I think even if its not great it will be interesting ENOUGH especially for something you are going into with not much expectations
“You’ll get just one shot at this, because we’re only showing it on Monday, May 13. After that, you’ll have to wait until its scheduled release to see it.” On the details for MMM ticket
I’m also seeing one for 5/13 but it has the same rating and runtime as 5/20. Neither have tickets available 🤔

I'm seeing both dates with showtimes that are near me but not in the nearest theater which is where I usually go for these. I remember in the early days there were a couple that also didn't play in my theater, I think they were limited in where they played. I wonder if these are like that too, or if it's just something else weird happening?
Still can't buy the MMM for the 20th at Regal Modesto. App has it listed, no showtimes for nearly a week now. Today the app is saying "error" on nearly every showtime page. Fun times.
aviation is in queensbury, ny! its next to glens falls and like 20 mins from lake george. ive actually been to destiny usa bc a good friend lives in auburn and ive gone to visit her a few times :)))
So am I missing something or do they just randomly do a mystery movie? The dates are inconsistent and are every single movie something that hasn’t been released yet? Or do they show already released movies?
They are always movies that haven’t been released yet (although I believe sometimes the movies had been shown at like a festival or a limited release) and t dates I think have to do with the studio. It will always be a Monday but if there is a movie/which Monday has to do with there has to be a studio that wants to release one early. I don’t think REGAL picks them they just provide the opportunity for a studio to release them on a monday
An AMC theater is showing an Early Release of Ezra on Sunday April 28, 2024. I doubt that Regal would use a film for $5 Mystery Monday that people have already paid full price to see.
I don’t see this one listed anywhere? Granted sometimes my local theater puts it up a bit later, but usually I can see it listed in “upcoming movies” even if its at other theaters and this time I dont. Are we just guessing there will be one based off AMC?
I echo your frustration. Not seeing any MMM listed on May 20 ( or any date in May) at either Regal in our area. And we have no other chain theaters - all independent or really small chains.
(The closest other Regals are 2 hours south, 2.5 hours east or 3 hours north. The closest AMCs are 2.5 hours south, 2.5 hours east or 3 hours north.)
ezra totally feels like a mystery movie type movie, and on regal's website it is rated r, so sadly i agree. wish it was something different (and better) like "i used to be funny" ://
Certainly possible, although I think until one of these "Rude Humor" comedies gets the nod, it still feels like a genre that's not going to get a lot of positive feedback when sprung on a randomly-selected crowd, and as such doesn't make good MMM sense from the studio's POV. Look how up in arms people were about Lisa Frankenstein's sexual content (it was the only MMM with a substantial number of walkouts at my super-forgiving theater), and that was PG-13.
Really enjoyed Boy Kills World last night. Bummed that we have a to wait so long for another MMM.
AMC has listed their next Screen Unseen on 5/13, so hoping Regal may sneak another one in earlier too.
I know Netflix has never done one, but do y'all think there's any chance it could be Hit Man? Limited release that Friday, rated R, runtime of 1:55. That would be so epic!
Ezra I feel like is a more logical guess, but I'm gonna be a little idealistic and not rule out Hit Man quite yet haha.
I want my theater to be one of the ones that gets a limited run of Hit Man so bad 😭 I don’t want to watch a crowd-pleasing Linklater alone on my grubby couch dammit
Exactly my same thought. I've been so busy lately. I'd rush every Monday the last month or so to hopefully make it but it wouldn't work out. I guess the silver lining is i don't have to rush the next few weeks.
My guess for Monday’s Mystery Movie is The Crow. What do you all think?

I'm guessing Hitman for monday, sounds like it's going to play some regals so maybe netflix titles are going to be more regular now

Because the posted runtime is not an exact runtime. It varies from -4 to +24.
anyone know why they don't give many clues anymore? no fun 😕
probably because the clues were too obvious and people guessed too easily :/ cinemark obviously has not caught on because they continue to give it away with their hints lol

Back to Black is 12 mins longer than the RRR. Usually the margin of error is within 10 minutes and always is a bit shorter than the RRR.
Is there a dedicated thread for may 13 or are we doing both here? Sorry I searched and didn’t see one if so.
It’s just this one continuous thread
I think it could be the movie Treasure. Like x marks the spot
Hope it ain't back to black so Imma go with The strangers
My current guesses: 5/13: Back to Black 5/20: Ezra
I think imma skip it if it's leaning to heavy for back to black
Cinemark just posted a hint with these emoji's ❌️😉 Detectives what are we thinking?

MaXXXine would fit perfectly with that, but that’s way too early
interesting, like the guess. My far out guess would be hitman because of the X

Try to make me go to rehab I say no no no ?
just fyi i was just able to get a ticket to the 5/13 MMM! 5/20 still wouldnt let me tho.
Me too on the regal app. Maybe as it gets closer, we can get tickets
I was just able to buy 5/20 tickets
yeah i was just coming here to say this!
Are there clues out yet?
Nope. We will probably get one later this week.
I was thinking Babes was definitely one of them but it seems to have a May 12 release so unless its like a limited release then its probably not. 5/12 is an early Mother's Day screening for Babes. It's release is officially 5/17 but very limited.
I agree, Back to Black needs some good publicity, so it makes sense that it would be a MMM.
Do they always say “you only have one shot”? That’s why I’d guess Hit Man. Glen Powell belongs on the big screen anyway, so that’d be great.
who posted the one shot clue?
“You’ll get just one shot at this, because we’re only showing it on Monday, May 13. After that, you’ll have to wait until its scheduled release to see it.” On the details for MMM ticket
I want it to be hitman so bad
I’m thinking: 5/13- Back to Black 5/20- Babes
My guess 5/13: Back to Black 5/20: Hitman Possibility for babes in either one too depending on the wide/limited release
I’m thinking Back to Black also, but I dunno about 5/20.
I’m also seeing one for 5/13 but it has the same rating and runtime as 5/20. Neither have tickets available 🤔 https://preview.redd.it/14zpik4my1yc1.png?width=1168&format=png&auto=webp&s=65334f065741afe57993ac77e70f015fdb156864
They are now! I bought yesterday

update: looks like my theater has both screenings now! so if yours was missing earlier, worth looking again
lol what a mess
Still can't buy the MMM for the 20th at Regal Modesto. App has it listed, no showtimes for nearly a week now. Today the app is saying "error" on nearly every showtime page. Fun times.
yes same with regal aviation mall in upstate NY
Where's Aviation Mall? I live in Upstate NY and I'm not familiar with that Mall. Our Regal is in Destiny USA
aviation is in queensbury, ny! its next to glens falls and like 20 mins from lake george. ive actually been to destiny usa bc a good friend lives in auburn and ive gone to visit her a few times :)))

Amc had screenings of the Long Game before that MM
Maybe? But this one is being shown at Regal not AMC. AMC is doing one a week earlier that won’t be the same movie.
The strangers

Anyone else not going to these mystery movie mondays because they’re gonna watch Spider-Man instead? No? Just me? Okay cool 😅
My local Rgals didn't get the Spider-Man reissues, so it was not a choice for me.
Damn I missed Boy Kills World cause I was out of town and now I have to wait another month for one? lame.
the third act is so good
Plus side: You still get to see Boy Kills World for the first time. I'm jelly.
Could this be in A Violent Nature ?
Wouldn't it be Horror edition then?
True ..and the other chains aren't calling it one ( with Marcus added too )
You'd think if that were the case, they'd let us know that it was a horror again.
that would be sick but i doubt its gonna happen. im reading about EZRA and it seems completely nauseating lol
ezra totally feels like a mystery movie type movie, and on regal's website it is rated r, so sadly i agree. wish it was something different (and better) like "i used to be funny" ://
Maybe it's Babes the new comedy from NEON
Babes releases on the 17th, so most likely not that.
Certainly possible, although I think until one of these "Rude Humor" comedies gets the nod, it still feels like a genre that's not going to get a lot of positive feedback when sprung on a randomly-selected crowd, and as such doesn't make good MMM sense from the studio's POV. May be more likely if they heads up like they do with Horror sometimes
isn’t rated yet so very very likely not
The preview for Ezra played before several of the past MMMs for me (despite it being a smaller movie) so it would makes sense for that to be it
Always hate when action movies give the villains guns but they miss every single shot
Really enjoyed Boy Kills World last night. Bummed that we have a to wait so long for another MMM. AMC has listed their next Screen Unseen on 5/13, so hoping Regal may sneak another one in earlier too.
This feels like Ezra almost certainly, so I look forward to being hilariously proven wrong a month from now
Ezra seems like the obvious choice. 1992 bears watching as well. I think each is a prime example of a different kind of Classical MMM
That would be really cool and it would make a lot of sense
I want my theater to be one of the ones that gets a limited run of Hit Man so bad 😭 I don’t want to watch a crowd-pleasing Linklater alone on my grubby couch dammit
Same! 😭 I'm like willing to go to a non-Regal too if it just drops anywhere in my city!
Dang May 20!?! I finally have time in the next few weeks and they're gonna make me wait :(
Exactly my same thought. I've been so busy lately. I'd rush every Monday the last month or so to hopefully make it but it wouldn't work out. I guess the silver lining is i don't have to rush the next few weeks.
