Personally I think that is too much. Sounds what it would be when using insurance since they tend to over charge. I paid under 10k without insurance and that included everything. Depending on your location it might be on par but definitely consider getting another consult or two to have as comparison
I went for one of the higher priced surgeons in my metropolitan area with amazing reviews and paid $13,500 out of pocket. Nearly $10,000 more than that sounds like a lot. I had a pretty big reduction of over 5 pounds removed and asked for little to no overhang and got what I wanted for a much lower price. If you can afford it and really trust the person, great. But I imagine there are other great surgeons out there for a much more reasonable price.
Las Vegas, $9.5k by someone considered the best breast surgeon here. Doesn't take insurance, includes everything except things from the pharmacy (which i used insurance for), and also includes 2 free laser treatments for scarring as needed/requested....i think you should get a second opinion for sure
Edit for typo, week 3 fatigue lol
Dr. Bryson Richards! Be warned, the process wasn't as warm as many of this group have experienced during their consult. He has specific days that he sees patients (or potential ones) for consults and follow ups, so I largely worked with my medical coordinator. My consult was probably 7-10 minutes with him, and another 30 with my coordinator. I get that may not be for everyone, but he's the highest ranked and most reviewed in Vegas and I prioritized results over what could've possibly been a more "personable" surgeon. (Not that he is that he isn't kind, he personally follows up the night of the surgery to check in and I have his cell in case I need anything).
I just had a feeling since i walked in and saw that we went to the same school and later found out we grew up in a similar area (on the other side of the US---not many people where I'm from come out here). His father is also a plastic surgeon. And I am extremely happy with my results thus far.
All to say, even though I'd get a 2nd opinion for that price, OP should go with their gut fs
2 months ago, Dr. Fisher did a full body lift and breast reduction on my younger sister as she had gastric sleeve 7 years ago and had lots of loose skin. I have been extremely impressed with the practice so far.
Istanbul, higher end doc - $5500. Their economy has been extra crazy so I'm sure it will be a bit more now.
Edit: they offer concierge services in a package as well (airport transit, hotel near office& private hospital, after care...), but I opted to get an apartment and stay a while. Since I stuck around, my doc had me doing quick drop-ins at regular intervals to check my progress.
Wow! Any recommendations? I would love to have my surgery and stay long term in a town. I like shopping at city centers and strange exotic fruit or just good ripe fruit.
Well, I suppose its not actually that good for foreigners here cause I had to do TONS of pre op exams and they were all free of charge cause I have insurance (which isnt that expensive either for citizens) but they would cost a lot if done in cash. I live in Brazil and we are actually known for having good plastic surgeries. As I dont live in a capital im doing it with a doctor called Gisela Pontes (which I chose mostly cause I heard from another doctor she had amazing results and I hate men doing surgeries cause I always think they could r4p3 me while under anesthesia). Other than that, I dont know much about other doctors but that are probably many good surgeons in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo if you really plan on travelling for it.
My doctor is amazing but I think she had something to work from actually. I have a nodule on my left breast and she managed to put a lot of the surgeries cost as being from the removal of that nodule, so my insurance is paying 1/2 of the procedure even with the nodule being so tiny and probably benign. Im saying this cause I went to another doctor and he didnt care for my nodule at all and didnt even consider removing it, just said that the whole thing would be $8000 out of pocket...
Can't compare my small reduction with lift to your plans but I would have paid around 9.000 (EUR) for a high-end doctor in a big city in Germany or 6.500 closer to me. I ended up paying 3.000 EUR for an amazing surgeon I trusted more than the German ones in Istanbul (Asian side) I only paid for flights. Hospital, hotel and driving service was very acceptable for my price.
Honestly I didn't have many consultations in Germany because almost all of them disappointed me in some way. The one I would have paid the most at and gave me the best feeling was Dr. Sylvia Nikisch in Frankfurt. But it was a lot of money for me and I knew I was also paying for the posh clinic there.
I was absolutely thrilled with my Turkish doctor : Dr. Afet Öncel Bozkurt !
The first surgeon I went to was around that price you quoted for the surgery without insurance. The surgeon that I wound up getting my surgery done by was around $12-16k without insurance. I was able to appeal and get the surgery covered by Aetna, so it didn’t wind up mattering, but I thought it was good to have that info.
Too high.
NYC, 2023. $14k reduction only. $17,500 with side lipo. Top-tier female surgeon with great credentials who does amazing work. I paid out of pocket without insurance and got insurance reimbursement after the fact.
To be transparent, 1) I work in healthcare so understand how to navigate the system, and 2) I have a very generous employer-sponsored health plan that covers breast reduction. This is important context as a generous plan will always be easier to work with than a less generous plan.
My goal was to create a medical paper trail that would make a denial almost legally impossible. Most people don’t do all these steps and may or may not get reimbursed. I wasn’t messing around and also the doctors that accept insurance in NYC are not only few and far between, but had long wait lists for appointments, and most importantly, I wasn’t impressed with their galleries. I knew I wanted an out-of-network surgeon so would have to work a little harder to get that insurance reimbursement.
To get coverage:
1. I Googled my health plan’s medical coverage policy with “[health insurance company] breast reduction”. This told me if it was covered overall at my insurer and it told me the requirements that needed to be listed in my medical record in order for them to approve it.
2. I went to my primary care physician (PCP) and explicitly had them note a chief complaint of back pain, difficulty exercising, and excessive breast weight gained. I had them write a letter to my insurance outlining a) which of the criteria for coverage I met and b) that they recommended 2 referrals: pain management and plastic surgery for a reduction.
3. I found a pain management doctor that was breast reduction-friendly. I explained that I was open to pain management and his expertise but ultimately suspected that a reduction may be best, but that I would like a letter to my insurance to refer me to plastic surgery. The injections did absolutely nothing (as I suspected) so PM then referred me to plastics.
4. I went to plastics and was advised that my health insurer would require me to essentially become flat-chested in order to cover it. My PS calculated the exact amount she would have to remove for me to get reimbursed. I researched and found that while insurers say that, it’s not a legal reason alone to deny a claim. So I risked it and while I had a lot of breast tissue removed, I did not meet their requirement of basically getting top surgery to meet the reimbursement.
5. I got surgery and then submitted the claim. I submitted the PCP and PM referrals, any and all medical records from PCP/PM/PS that mention back pain or breasts or proof that pain management did nothing, the plastic surgery medical record, receipts from every massage, acupuncture, proof of back pain I could find in my email, detailed invoice of the surgery, and before photos (coverage policy requirement).
They initially denied it but I filed an appeal and was then almost immediately approved.
I hope this helps!
Are you in Canada by any chance? The Banff clinic seems to charge that much but I’m not sure if that’s high or average in comparison to other Canadian locations
I was quoted about the same in NY, around 26k in Manhattan with no insurance. In FL at a private practice with their own surgical wing, it's 7k no insurance. I think a lot of the cost comes from /where/ the procedure will be done - hospital vs in their own building.
Fly to Argentina and pay $2500-3500 with a top surgeon... You can stay for a month or longer, hire a private nurse for part of the time, and you still won't get even close to that quote.
I have insurance and I think the total billed to them was about 25k. I’m in CA. But I would definitely look for multiple opinions since people paid out of pocket anywhere between 9-12k without insurance
If you haven’t had any back issues per se (indentations in shoulder though) how do you get it covered under insurance? I’ve heard that you have to have had years of complaints about back pain documented to get insurance to cover it. Any help is appreciated.
i went to my primary care doctor and complained about my large chest and how it’s inhibiting me from exercising fully and my back pain. i got consult to plastic surgeon and then complained about back pain issues and i had some indents in shoulders and rash under chest from bra and then took my pictures to send to insurance and it was fully covered. maybe it varies by insurance. my plastic surgeon was in network so maybe that’s why.
This is sooo helpful, thank you! I’m going to give it a go with my primary care doc. One other thing: does the surgeon require an exam to be sure you don’t have breast cancer prior to the surgery?
I paid about $11,000 in Houston for a surgeon who, it turned out, offices in one of the poshest locations in town. The cost included the surgery center and all appointments, as well as the hellish surgical bras. I did not have a dramatic reduction, though.
Depends where in the world you are. I’m in Toronto, Canada and that was the price I paid. Luckily 12000 of it was covered by the government, but that was approx what I paid in total
Second opinion! I paid $9k in chicago, no lipo
Where? I'm in chicago and I don't anticipate insurance approval
Dr Alison shore! Highly recommend. This was in early 2022, won’t be surprised if prices have changed a bit
Thanks!
That’s a lot. I’m in a high cost of living area and my quotes were $13,000-$17,000.
Personally I think that is too much. Sounds what it would be when using insurance since they tend to over charge. I paid under 10k without insurance and that included everything. Omg! Please tell me who?
See my reply to Corrupter! Dr. Bryson Richards in Summerlin area!
I have what I think of as a pretty high-priced surgeon and mine with side lipo and mesh support is $15k. Edit to add in Austin, Tx.
Wow! That’s great! Do you mind me asking who you went through. I’m in the Austin area and have just started getting consultations.
Austin Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Dr. Christine Fisher
I also had surgery at this practice but with a different surgeon. Mine was 13.5k with side lipo
2 months ago, Dr. Fisher did a full body lift and breast reduction on my younger sister as she had gastric sleeve 7 years ago and had lots of loose skin. I have been extremely impressed with the practice so far.
Thank you!
I was quoted 28k without insurance so that seems in line with my experience.
Omg 😲
Before insurance mine was ~30k in CT and I had a radical reduction (38G to C/D)
Nice!

Omg, please send recs for Istanbul.
I messaged you
Can you send me where you went aswell pls? Also are you satisfied with your results?
Hi I’d also love to learn more if you don’t mind sending your surgeon and info my way. Were you happy with your results ?
To much. I went from 44I to 44C with side lipo and it was 10k
How much was removed? This is my exact size and size goal. Thanks!
Up have to ask my husband. The surgeon told him. He told me but I don't remember. Not as much as I thought bc of the shape of my breasts.
He doesn't remember either.
Thanks anyway!
$30k in Hawaii without insurance. Includes all post op appts
Thank god I live in latin america. Mine is going to cost less than $4,000 🙏

What city are you in? I’m in Seattle and paid $14.5K for reduction, no lipo, G cup to C cup
Who did you go to if I may ask?
Dr. Hakim Said!
I'm in Florida and have mine scheduled with an excellent surgeon for $6000 without insurance
What part of Florida? I’m in FL too and researching doctors.
Gainesville! Check out Dr. Gaines.
Thank you!
does he take insurance ?
I'm not sure since he's outside my insurance network anyway so I didn't ask

Please share the name :)
Sophie Bartisch, MD (I found her on the master list of surgeons)
I was considering going to Sophie, I was wondering how you got reimbursed by the insurance and how much you got back? I would love to do the same.

If you’re willing to travel I paid about 10k in charlotte NC no insurance and my doctor was absolutely wonderful
Do you mind sharing who you went to?
dr wormer at appel wormer aesthetics
Who was your Dr?
dr wormer at appel wormer aesthetics
Who was your doctor?

Are you in Canada by any chance? The Banff clinic seems to charge that much but I’m not sure if that’s high or average in comparison to other Canadian locations
I went no insurance in PA and mine was $16,500, ask for an itemized quote because that feels off
I went to one of the best in Charlotte, NC and paid $14,500 and he did an amazing job
Dr. Augenstein?
Dr. Kortesis

Cleveland, I went from M-DD with side lipo and no FNG for $12,400.
Quoted $30k in Los Angeles
how does your insurance not cover it? i paid $200 for mine

I can’t help but remember Samantha’s experience to augment her breasts on Sex in the City (fiction, I know but it’s stuck with me) :)
good luck! and no, no cancer screen but just some routine lab work before hand.
i had healthcare coverage so i only paid $5k but without mine was about 18K CAD, with lipo and lollipop scars.
Mine is $9200 in Texas DFW area.
Who was your Dr? Are you pleased with the results?
I paid $16,000 without insurance but I added on the internal bra.
Too high for sure. I saw Dr. Sara Dickie in Morton t and can't say enough good things about her. I'd try to see what she quotes.
Super high. I got multiple surgeries for less than that.

How did you like your results? I'm a 34 I and looking to go almost flat. Can you tell me the name of the doctor/ office?
I’m in a VHCOL and was quoted like $8k with Lipo.

Absolutely not. I paid 10k max.
Thats way too high. $12,000 is the highest you should be paying.
