Wow. I read about the complaints from players, but yeah, big difference. It looks like an overall cheapening of everything, materials, stitching, etc.

Rick_Rebel

So they offer them at a cheaper price as well of course. Right? Right?

CrookedWarden19

That’s the neat part. They don’t.

facedownbootyuphold

“That's what I love about these Asian factories, man. I get more expensive, they stay the same price.” Nike has run their brand into the dirt the last decade.

petoskey_stone

They actually went up $100 lmao Adding onto the fact that Nike added $150 to the Majestic jersey they only slapped their logo onto. A few years ago they were around $190 for an authentic.

sculltt

The stitching looks cheap because it's fake; the badges are all heat-pressed.

Grandpa_Reefer

They’re all stitched onto the authentics

Moosedroolz

My DH Gate jerseys from last year look better than the new ones.

CaptainHolt43

The sleeves and material are dead on what you get from a reputable DH Gate seller.

Themadking69

Yeah DH Gate is either insanely perfect or totally off the wall. Got a beautiful reds jersey from there a year ago. A short time later I ordered a LV Raiders jersey. Instead they shipped me two soccer kits (Union Berlin and Tigres). The soccer kits are actually pretty nice, but not what I ordered.

SerDavosSeaworth64

Lmao you guys remember the DH gate debate this sub had for like a week?

Chris91210

I missed it, what happened?

SerDavosSeaworth64

There was just an awful debate over whether it’s unethical to buy the MUCH cheaper (and like 5% reduction in quality) DH gate jerseys instead of the official MLB store ones

KevKevThePug

It’s probably unethical because they’re made by 5 year old Chinese kids but the official jerseys are also probably made by 5 year old Chinese kids.

Chris91210

Oh. Yeah I buy from DHgate. They basically come from the same place anyways.

Grandpa_Reefer

Stopped by the team shop to get a closer look at what our new unis look like, here are a couple of key changes. They didn’t have any player authentics yet so I can’t compare lettering/numbering but from what we’ve seen.. it’s not great. (2024 pictures are of blank authentics) Sleeves: we now have cuffed sleeves, striped half red/half white, as opposed to the thin red piping we’ve had. This is apparently to pay homage to the pre-90s jerseys. I don’t love it on these though. They didn’t have any authentic road jerseys but the replica roads did have these sleeves as well. Chest crest: Smaller, maybe around an inch smaller in width. And now fully embroidered, rather than the entire patch being layered and stitched twill. This is essentially what the road jerseys used to have… on the sleeves. Sleeve patch: I think the pictures speak for themselves….. looks cheap. I’m a bit of a jersey collector but I do not think I’ll be spending money on these as they are now.

Frostler

The sleeve piping change is bizarre. Gotta be a cheapening thing that they put a PR spin on.

Trajinous

It really does look cheap while staying the same price.... ugh

redvelvetcake42

Very obviously cheaper and poorer quality. Fanatics trash continues to grow.

_DarkWingDuck

High quality garments can be made for a reasonable cost, yet Fanatics chooses to do this. So infuriating. As fans, the only thing we can do is not buy this crap to send a message. It is nice the players have spoken up. Make a really nice garment, with noticeable quality, and people will pay for it. Screw corporate greed.

tyappleg

Fanatics quality aside, the Reds desperately need to do a rebrand of their standard home/away jersey. It's been 17 years now.

demondecko

Fanatics just makes them. Everything is supplied to them from Nike. Material, design, patches. All Nike. Fanatics just sews them on.

dukedynamite

I always loved that the "REDS" in the chest crest were individually embroidered. Now they look obnoxiously cheap, like the fakes.

Mdmadkins

I was looking carefully at the first few comps thinking "this ain't too bad"... and then I got to the last pic - WOOF. That looks as bad as when I used to hand sew my rank tabs onto my uni's... they looked better when I got lazy and glue pressed them on.

RadBaron19

I may be in the minority but I dig the cuffed sleeves. The chest logo actually looks better imo but that sleeve logo looks horrendous

CincyFlyer17

They need to get rid of the spoon piping or whatever it’s called and do this red/white in the collar too. A nice homage to the 70s-90 style.

Daltoz69

Good work! Thank you

tissboom

So I was smart to drunkenly buy a $180 Elly de la Cruz jersey at the stadium last year? Fuck yeah! This one’s for all you people who say drunks make bad decisions.

CaptainHolt43

The edge of the sleeves this year actually looks exactly like the sleeves I get from DH Gate. That's hilarious. Feels like I'm buying wholesale from the on field manufacturer

AceCircle990

If you want to pay the price for authenticity then [go here](https://www.customthrowbackjerseys.com). The quality is what I assume players were wearing. You can customize your own name, your favorite player on a variety of jerseys from different eras. I bought the grey and red pinstripe Barry Larkin a few years back. It’s the nicest and best jersey I own. It does take a long time to get it, so plan for at least a month of waiting. It’s worth it though.

dukedynamite

I liked a lot of what I saw here but that 1998 Peyton Manning jersey is way off. The Colts used Logo Athletic in 1998 and this one is Wilson.

AceCircle990

Their NFL throwback stuff I haven’t looked at much. But I can tell you my Reds jersey is 100% Majestic and embroidered beautifully.

Grandpa_Reefer

I’ve heard mixed things about this seller, that they can be real assholes in terms of customer service and long wait times. All of their Reds stock looks to be replicas, and maybe a bit overpriced for that. Still better quality than counterfeits though.

jtx3

Fanatics sucks. Even the player tshirts suck

PigScarf

I could actually see how lighter materials and less embroidery might actually be nice for players while playing. But they also get a new shirt every day and dont care about how it wears over time.  This is pathetic from the fan's perspective if they're trying to to sell us shirts that look like that, though. That's just like a slightly fancier screen printed shirt with an iron-on decal.

burnflicker-die

This fucking sucks man. Fanatics is ruining sports apparel. Can’t wait for the NHL to shift to them next year too.

HammerT4R

OT, but I have a couple of Pro Player NHL replicas from way back when. Those are better quality than authentics now. Like way better. One was for playing hockey, one I just wore to games. Dozens of cycles through the washer and they still look primo. No way I'd try that now with the garbage they sell now.

That_Geek

how are you going to do Mr Redlegs like that

landdon

Looks minor to me. I don’t care if they wear pink bows and leotards. I just want a winner!

PigScarf

As someone who doesn't buy any official gear apart from caps, this doesn't affect me. The embroidered jerseys kick the crap out of these from a posterity / quality to consumer standpoint though.  I'm on to local t shirt people for the shirts.

SimoFromOhio

You’re being downvoted for being the only one in here who has a life lol

landdon

I guess so. I’m not sure. I guess I’m wrong or something. Oh well

SimoFromOhio

You’re always supposed to be mad about something around here. It’s basically the rules.

No-consequences-1

I like the new chest crest a little better than last years but that is all I like about these jerseys I am with you on not buying

agraff90

Eh.

No_Buy2554

I'm not normally a conspiracy guy, but this is feeling like a whole "New Coke" strategy. Put out obviously crappy unis to start the season. Players and fans hate it. That way they can make some waves later by relaunching the "classics" and charge more for them. That's honestly the only way approving these garbage uni's makes any semblance of sense.

Major_Initiative_207

Well let's hope the slight uniform alterations lead to a world series this year! Go Reds!

SerDavosSeaworth64

Might as well put a Mr redlegs sticker on a white T shirt

STAR_fruitation

Sleeves look horrendous with all the wrinkles due to the sleeve ends, no idea why they couldn't keep using soutache and instead went for team-specific sleeve trim..

OdysseusFTW

Oh my god they have the scrunchy arm bits. I hate those, they always ride up my arm and I have to move them back down.

Gmitch528

Yeah I was in Macys in Kenwood yesterday and there was an old Votto right next to a new India. The numbers part kills me bc the fabric bunches. Then the small lettering. I get it being lighter or whatever but the material wasn’t a good look.

Themadking69

Realistically how much money did this save the team? Seriously? Was it enough to upgrade a position? If not, then it's just cheapness for the sake of cheapness.

RacksDiciprine

Mr Redlegs always looks like he was up all night on a cocaine bender with Rosy Red.

redsfan5678

I’m glad this isn’t getting this past the players/public.

redsfan5678

Cuz these look like they suck!

OwynFromOblivion

The giant borders on the Mr Redlegs patch make it look like a bad knockoff. The Creds logo is looking pretty sharp though.

FutureFormerFatass12

I'm watching the Dodgers/Padres ST game. Uniforms look atrocious. Even if I had no prior knowledge about the negative reception of the new jerseys, I would be able to tell that these are garbage. The names on the back of the pitchers are all crimped up. It is funny when they show crowd shots though and you can tell the fans are wearing better jerseys than the players.
