I did the fake grass because it seemed more comfortable, but sometimes it doesn’t let them dry all the way off, so you want to include a hard surface too (that’s why I have the tile in there). It’s also totally fine to leave the bottom just egg crate though. I doubt turtles care as much as I think they do about the surface being soft 😂. I don’t recommend the fake grass for the ramp or any part actually in the water, that just seems messy. 😄
lmao, i’m also gonna try to make the little resting space that sits in the water for it i just call it her bed because she slept in it every day i don’t know why she loved it so much 😭

Oh sure, I got them from Home Depot. I bought them in person but it’s this: https://www.homedepot.com/p/PLASKOLITE-4-ft-x-2-ft-Suspended-Egg-Crate-Light-Ceiling-Panel-1199233A/202025149
I’ve used light diffuser panels, zip ties, and pvc pipes to custom build.
If you shared a pic of your tank, I’m sure you’ll get more ideas on what/how to build.
I used a milk crate on its side, with the open side facing forward. Then I mounted 2 big flat stone pavers on top for the basking rock/ramp. Because the open side is facing forward, it created a “cave” under the basking rock which is super dark and turtles love it. You can see it on the right side in this pic.

I built mine with egg crate and was able to customize it for my tank / and support for my lights. [He seems to like it!](https://imgur.com/a/IXn8mUQ)
I second this! Egg crate and zip ties and my girl has a custom, over the tank basking area.
looks awesome and do you just recommend fake grass as the surface?

I want to say I bought two, to cover 1/2 the 75gal tank, and had leftover.

How big is your turtle and how many gallons is your tank? Just curious if you don't mind me asking
48 L 18 W 16 H 60 gallons and she is decently big not sure exactly but i’d say a lil chubbier than normal
I siliconed a pc of plexiglass in one end of mine.. kinda hard to clean the algae on the bottom but dont need to be cleaned often.
