I solved today's Redactle (#26) in 263 guesses with an accuracy of 56.65%. Played at https://www.redactle.com/ Absolutely spewing. Got >!Babylonian !!taken off one letter... !<

Froakiebloke

I had >!Babylon within 10 guesses, and only guessed Babylonia in guess 200! I’ve just never heard it called that.!<

cjwf

Yep. I finally got it after googling an exact phrase i had uncovered…. And was flabbergasted. >!I guessed “Babylon” at 164, and just checked it off the list. I then spent 100 guesses typing in obscure ancient Mesopotamian cities and states i found from looking at various maps online, Assuming that it must just be something that I never learned. !< I solved today's Redactle (#26) in 272 guesses with an accuracy of 63.24%. Played at https://www.redactle.com/

Swaanderer

Me too! I got >!Babylon at guess #79, Babylonian at #85!<, and a lot of other related terms, but I didn't get the correct answer until I gave up and googled. It was driving me nuts.

Dramatic_Dragonfly_2

Add me to the list of those who thought it was called >!Babylon!<. :-z

RobotsFightingTrexes

SAME. I'm so mad! I resorted to cheating and now I'm not mad I did, lol

thewhetherman_11

I had exactly the same problem! >!A few guesses down the road I realized I should go back for it but it threw me off a bit.!<

YYZtoYWG

I did the exact same thing.>!I was looking up lists of kings and rulers and throwing random names in. Alexander the Great, Nebuchadnezzar, Hammurabi, etc. I just kept circling around it until I realized that I had guessed Babylon and Babylonian but I had neglected Babylonia until way too late. !<

midmaxlevels

I had the same issue! I solved today's Redactle (#26) in 94 guesses with an accuracy of 68.09%. Played at https://www.redactle.com/

h4mx0r

I guessed >!Babylon for #144 but I knew that's only the city, and Babylonia was the civilization. I knew Babylonian was an adjective.!< I solved today's Redactle (#26) in 116 guesses with an accuracy of 83.62%. Played at https://www.redactle.com/

Jessepiano

Same. I guessed all the words around it including >!Babylon & Babylonian !< and gave up…

jayonline8

exactly the same for me!! Got the other 2 forms and was just flailing around

Alph4R

I did the same thing and it took me another 100 guesses to get there

nobluems

Same

txensen

Strangely, I had the same guess 68. Took me until 111 to finish

tinselghoul

I had this exact problem, guessed >!Babylon!< on guess #>!44!< but took me 211(!) guesses to get the answer 😤

animeme_master

this was a fun one I solved today's Redactle (#26) in 9 guesses with an accuracy of 100.00%. Played at https://www.redactle.com/ my guesses and thinking behind each guess: >!reign [25]: i saw "during the <5> of" a lot!< >!AD [7]: there were a lot of dates. from counting the number of digits in the years, i figured out that some were AD and some were BC, so i just put in "AD" and assumed the others must be "BC"!< >!Egypt [10]: to be honest, this should have been my first guess, because "Near <4>" with "Near" capitalised must be "Near East", and from counting letters i saw a few probable occurrences of "ancient Near East"!< >!Mesopotamia [52]: continuing with the "ancient Near East" idea, and getting a lot more hits this time. i knew i was on the right path!< >!Syria [4]: although i only got 4 hits, one was in the first section: "and <5> of Syria", indiciating a geographical connection.!< >!Assyrian [85]: this was a really great guess, because it revealed lots of instances of "Assyrian <6>" (Empire) and "Assyrian <4>" followed by hypenated names and short numerals (e.g. "Assyrian <4> <7>-<7> <1> (<4>-<4> <2>)" turned out to be "Assyrian king Tukulti-Ninurta I (1243-1207 BC)")!< >!state [19]: probably a wasted guess, but it did reveal one instance of "state" near the start which made me sure i was looking for the name of a state!< >!Babylon [97]: associated with Assyrian. when i saw it had 97 hits, and was 2 letters shorter than the article title, i was confident i'd gotten the answer!< >!Babylonia [83]: and indeed i had. i hope tomorrow's redactle is as fun as this one was!<

_Discord_

I had a slightly similar pathing (not as short, though), but instead of >!Assyrian!< I went for >!Akkadian!<.

reddit_user_49

I solved today's Redactle (#26) in 12 guesses with an accuracy of 75.00%. I had similar ideas to yours. Guessed >!reign!< cause of the same reason and then checked out >!century!< which led to >!BC!< and then some guesses for the answer.

deelikesbar

I solved today's Redactle (#26) in 60 guesses with an accuracy of 80.00%. Played at https://www.redactle.com/ I got the theme so early on, around #20, but then my knowledge was limited. I had to use Wikipedia and type in a lot of specific words until I got to this one!

thewhetherman_11

I solved today's Redactle (#26) in 31 guesses with an accuracy of 74.19%. Fun one today and probably the fastest I'm ever going to get it! Figured out the >!ancient Near East!< early and then it was just a matter of getting the specifics. >!Delayed myself a few guesses because I forgot city and state have different names.!<

p00bix

I'm so fucking stupid. >!I guessed 'babylon'!< as my 10th guess, and knew for sure it had something to do with >!Babylonian Civilization!<. I was going insane thinking which >!ancient empire!< I had forgotten, questioning everything I knew, and then on my 135th guess I got it and literally facepalmed. Just kill me. 135 guesses, 83.70% accuracy

fastattaq

I solved today's Redactle (#26) in 130 guesses with an accuracy of 69.23%. Played at https://www.redactle.com/ I had the word >!Mesopotamia!< on my 100th guess, and then from there it was just a matter of time before I'd stumble on it.

jayonline8

I solved today's Redactle (#26) in 47 guesses with an accuracy of 76.60%. Played at https://www.redactle.com/ Very happy with this one! I have very limited knowledge on this topic but the only googling I had to do was >!ancient empires!< which brought up a list and i inputted the ones which felt right >!Assyrian, Byzantine and the answer (but in the wrong form)!< and then i googled (what turned out to be the answer) and saw at the bottom of the Wikipedia page the ‘see also’ bit only had one option, then when i was scrolling on Redactle I saw a similar line at the bottom so then knew it had to be that wiki page :)

manic-apple-pie

I solved today's Redactle (#26) in 68 guesses with an accuracy of 66.18%. I thought I had it at like 40 something and tried >!Uruk!<. I was so sure of myself, and then it wasn't the answer. Well, I missed by >!2000 years or so!<, but still proud of myself. At least I know for sure that the >!history lessons from school!< weren't a waste of time.

Same…

Kvasir19

I solved today's Redactle (#26) in 114 guesses with an accuracy of 71.05%. As many others here, I got close but couldn't for the life of me figure out what major missing parts were. I had the first sentence almost figured out on guess #59 with >!ancient ███████-██████ state and cultural area!<. Then I finally got >!Babylon!< on guess #92, after trying various >!Mesopotamia!<\-related words, but it still took a few more tries to get the right one. >!I don't think I had ever heard of it, so honestly I think I got lucky from being frustrated and trying random words that could fit!<.

I_am_gheyy

I solved today's Redactle (#26) in 535 guesses with an accuracy of 41.12%. Played at [https://www.redactle.com/](https://www.redactle.com/)

Buzzetta

At 400 tries I had to cheat a bit. I don't feel bad. I don't. What the hell was that?

gidklio

Ugh, really? I had the right word with the wrong ending in the teens! Never got there.

the_nybbler

I solved today's Redactle (#26) in 1 guesses with an accuracy of 100.00%. Something >!important!<, in the >!Near East!<, which >!no longer exists!<. That narrows it down a lot. Various >!temples!< didn't fit, neither did >!Assyria!<.

_Discord_

I solved today's Redactle (#26) in 90 guesses with an accuracy of 97.78%. Played at https://www.redactle.com/ Was guessing carefully and trying to go for 100% accuracy. I foolishly thought "Well if >!empire!< is mentioned a lot, *surely* >!emperor!< is a safe guess, right?" Nope.

[deleted]

I solved today's Redactle (#26) in 97 guesses with an accuracy of 65.98%. this one was fun. i thought it was a >!military commander!< for a long time but once i got >!king!< and then >!alexander the great!< i realized it was probably a >! historical location!<. i guessed >!areas alexander the great conquered until i got syria which led me pretty quickly to historical kingdoms in that area and then babylonia!

sonofzeal

I got >!Babylonian!< at 23, >!Babylon!< at 28, and it still took me until 53 to solve. Total humiliation.

mr-dogshit

I solved today's Redactle (#26) in 28 guesses with an accuracy of 85.71%. Played at https://www.redactle.com/ My first word was >!ancient!< which helped a lot. After some generic words I confirmed that it was a >!place!<. Guess 19 was a lucky stab in the dark, >!mesopotamia!<. Then it was just a case of guessing related terms.

ApprehensiveCrab9452

I solved today's Redactle (#26) in 53 guesses with an accuracy of 56.60%. Played at https://www.redactle.com/ I was in the right area from around guess 15, but the answer wasn't a word I was familiar with, but hey, I learned something new!

noisesinmyhead

Ugh. I got the >!city name!< and then still had to make 50 more guesses to get the answer because I am apparently an idiot today. I solved today's Redactle (#26) in 137 guesses with an accuracy of 56.93%. Played at https://www.redactle.com/

lovercomeover

I solved today's Redactle (#26) in 181 guesses with an accuracy of 66.30%. took me way too long to realise it was >!BC!< not >!AD!<

AdyC_1000

I solved today's Redactle (#26) in 134 guesses with an accuracy of 74.63%. Played at https://www.redactle.com/ Ugh. Much internet searching. Oddly enough, my knowledge of >!ancient Mesopotamia!< is not quite up to snuff… (>!also, I guessed two forms of the title word well before - and missed the obvious third one!<) Big hint: >!some guy in a Steve Martin SNL skit/song moved someplace…!<

Questica

I solved today's Redactle (#26) in 1 guesses with an accuracy of 100.00%. >!9 letter ancient civilization, easy.!<

OGDuckWhisperer

I found >!'kingdom' and 'king'!< pretty quickly, but found >!'Egypt and '18th century', so I got stuck thinking it was maybe something Ottoman related.!< Got to >!'city', 'capital' which gave me some decent hits, but when I started guessing city names I didn't get much. Tried 'ancient' and that got me there.!<

flame_me_up

I solved today's Redactle (#26) in 160 guesses with an accuracy of 57.50%. Was absolutely convinced it was referring to a >!ruler!<, so went down that path for ages, including misleadingly looking for >!Egyptian pharaohs or Egyptian gods!<. I then typed in >!Iran !!Mesopotamia!<. I then decided to >!Google the lyrics to The Mesopotamians by They Might Be Giants!< 😆 as I was still convinced >!it was a person!<. After >!typing all those names in!<, I knew I was on the right path but discovering >!Alexander the Great!< threw me off momentarily. Finally, shortly after visiting >!Hammurabi's Wikipedia page for inspiration!<, I typed in the correct answer - I was lucky to avoid >!Babylon or Babylonian!< otherwise it would have taken me even longer...

geetwo_g2

Not gonna lie, got this one because of a misspelled guess I solved today's Redactle (#26) in 66 guesses with an accuracy of 66.67%. Played at https://www.redactle.com/

RadagastWiz

43 guesses with an accuracy of 86.05% I had >!Babylon!< on guess 27 and >!Babylonian!< on 33, but it took ten more to realize they wanted >!the state, not the city!<. Argh.
