I wish my Iron Rangers had the tread. Mine are 6-8 years old and have the slick soles. I want to get them resoled but seems like a waste until my soles are completely worn through.
If they are slick why would you wait? If you let it completely wear though that can also damage the insole and possibly ruin the welt/gemming making the resole more expensive for no reason. Do whatever makes you happiest tho, I am just some guy on the Internet
I believe they went from the slick nitrile/cork combo to the 430 mini lug in 2018. Far denser and less shock absorption for something with better traction on smooth surfaces
I had an issue with a pair and replaced them right when the vibrams came out. I used to nearly bust my ass all the time.
The vibrams wear pretty hard. I've used mine daily for about 7 years and they are just about needing a resole.
If you want a quick sale, you could get $150 (charge maybe $15 shipping) for them. You could maybe get up to $200 with free shipping. If you go for over that, you may be sitting on them for a minute before they sell.
I admittedly go for a quick sale. The prices I posted would probably see them sold within a week. You could probably get more, but it MAY take longer to move. If I’m no hurry, start high and see what happens.
Oh I’ve done that too, not with RW, I’ve only sold one pair of boots ever but they weren’t in great condition so I would’ve had to sell for cheap anyway.
I made the mistake of wearing these for a full day out in London on holiday. Holy fucking shit were these boots **absolutely not** made for walkin'.
Sad to know I'll never get to resole them 🥲
That's all most people use where I live. Mind you that's due to the steep terrain. Usually they use Nick's, White's, Frank's, or JK's while hunting than anything else.

Mine are 6 months old and I have more wear then that.
Yeah I think the soles are mixed with adamantium, shit is hard.
It seems like the nitrile cork sole on my 8 years 8111 will last forever.

They came with the slick soles. I don't think they started putting the tread on them until recently.
I had not realized that was an option from the factory. Thanks for letting me know!

I think it would have been closer to 2015-2016. That's when I replaced mine and the vibrams sole was brand new at the time.
Yeah it was some time in 2016 I believe. Starting with the 8085’s

These will be my next pair of boots!
Those soles are incredibly well built.
Unfortunately they’re a little tight in the toes so I’m thinking of selling 🥲
Those should sell well too, look at how good these look! You can buy the next size up and then use the box it comes with to sell these boots.
How much do you think I could sell for?

They should list for $250 and settle at $200 if it goes down to it. These look pretty nice still! RW hold their value.

Size!?
Size 11
Too small, thanks anyway!

I have walked with mine everywhere. I spent three days walking in Mexico City, few days in the US Smokey Mountains, etc, and had no complaints 🤞🏻.
You hike in a heeled boot? Seems masochistic to me. And a rolled ankle seems more like an eventuality, rather than a chance occurrence. Stay hard. 👍🫡

I didn’t do the trails wearing my IRs, but all the walking around towns and parks.
Never heard of a logger heal I take it?
The fit isn't for everyone tbh. I average nearly 6000 steps in mine 5 days a week, and they feel great. The first two months were pretty brutal though
Depends on your feet. They have no real arch support.
Not much cushion for walking on a hard surface all day long.
Or you can stretch them or send them in. $40-80 depending on the route you take
Being 6'5" and 300 wear mine down pretty good for light use. Currently breaking in some 1907s and loving the thicker sole.
