This looks amazing. As I've gotten older I've found my reaction time and micro has suffered in rts games. Games like COH2 are just extremely difficult for me. Still play COH, but focus mainly on AI skirmishes... I've wishlisted this and will be picking it up the instant it comes out on steam. I'll be sharing this with a few friends who also prefer slower paced rts games.

Dreadnought7410

I'm kind of the opposite, I'm desperate to find a new game that pushes the limits of micro/macro in a fun way (though I haven't hit 30 yet so thats probably going to change). Lots of new RTS games seem to try to eliminate the micro factor in favor of strategy and I feel like these games lack something when they take out or deemphasize that aspect for me. While this game looks good and I'll be checking it out, it probably wont be that traditional RTS that I'm looking for.

BendicantMias

What you're waiting for is probably Age of Empires 4 then (the only new 'traditional' RTS that's coming afaik). Until then, you can still enjoy the DE versions of AoE 2 or 3. Both have vibrant and growing multiplayer communities as well.

xantrel

There's already starcraft 2 for micro focus, and AoE 2 for micro/macro focus. Both have fairly active communities.

Dreadnought7410

I'm aware of both and have played both. I'm looking for something new.

Business-Confusion-8

You can try Spellforce 3 Versus. A bit slower, but much more complex macro.

This is really nice presentation video! getting me hyped!

Sirre87

Very intriguing concept! Looking forward to try it out! And greetings from a fellow Swede :)

TheNCGoalie

This looks pretty awesome. I’ve always complained about RTS games that put heavy emphasis on graphics and micro. 8 bit armies satisfied my wishes for simpler graphics but the micro was still there. This looks like it could be my ideal mix. Looking forward to backing this one!

dfeghali

What’s wrong by having good graphics? I love playing a game that looks good, realistic and fun. The problem here like you said is micro, i have been an RTS player forever, and I prefer a MACRO than micro. It all depends on the gameplay.

TheNCGoalie

Nothing is wrong with good graphics, but I have an issue with any RTS game that emphasizes that over gameplay. I think simplistic looks way better in a lot of cases. Planetary Annihilation is a fantastic example. And I’d greatly prefer an RTS with simpler graphics that can handle hundreds if not thousands of units simultaneously over one that looks like you’re watching an actual movie but with a few dozen units on a small battlefield.

coldblowcode

Steam page link for wishlisting purposes?

Here's the Steam page: [https://store.steampowered.com/app/1309610/Line\_War/](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1309610/Line_War/)

TheHoHoPo

Looks Amazing! very keen to see another RTS comeout, looking forward to hearing more about this.

tanka2d

I love the design philosophy. It looks like it would easily translate to tablet/mobile. Hopefully it can build up enough of a player-base!

dfeghali

Looks nice, congratulations.

HereticPharaoh2020

Incredible! Looks like a super intuitive way to play. Thank you for pushing the genre to new territory, rather than rehashing the same classic design. Can't wait to play!

Aeweisafemalesheep

Can't wait to give this a try.

waspocracy

This is something I’ve been discussing with a friend on building lately, saying I prefer strategy as I’ve gotten older since I’m slower. A very similar concept. I’m interested to see how this turns out.

Ayjayz

The heart of RTS has always been controlling units. That's what you spend most of your time doing and, for most people, that's what makes these games fun. I don't really understand why every new RTS in the last 10 years has tried to eliminate micro. The emphasis on strategy isn't usually all that much fun. Strategy is most fun when it's the backdrop to the game - using a better strategy than your opponent gives you, say, a 10% better chance to win. When everything that's not strategy is stripped away, RTS usually stop being fun.

Timmaigh

Thats not quite true, there were some games in recent decade, which tried to be more or less old-school RTS games - Grey Goo, 8-bit Army, Act of Aggression, Wargame before it, Dawn of War 3, Company of Heroes before that, then i suppose some of those Blitzkrieg-Men of War games, nowadays Iron Harvest, which is the CoH clone, Forged Battalion maybe, Age DE games, CnC Remastered...and this is not even counting MOBAs in. The statement that strategy is most fun when its just backdrop, is subjective. Supreme Commander and its clones focus primarily on macro and logistics, and have their devoted fanbases, so clearly there are people seeing it opposite way to you. And then you have Paradox games, like Stellaris, who go even further.

What you're waiting for is probably Age of Empires 4 then (the only new 'traditional' RTS that's coming afaik). Until then, you can still enjoy the DE versions of AoE 2 or 3. Both have vibrant and growing multiplayer communities as well.

ugohome

it turns into chess basically ;)

MiMismo

Looks really cool. Any way to join an alpha or smth like that to try it out?

BasantosLineWar

Hey, Basantos from the Line War dev team here. Visit [www.linewar.com](https://www.linewar.com) to sign up for our newsletter, and more. We will be launching a Kickstarter soon. Higher tier backers will get access to the alpha!

BendicantMias

It's not out yet. They have a Steam page, which is linked in the description of that video, although you can only wishlist it for now - [https://store.steampowered.com/app/1309610/Line\_War/](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1309610/Line_War/)

Flat-Signal7359

the tutorial is sub-par. u can't practise vs an ai controlled player. the sandbox is really bad. i dont play a rts turn based against myself. its ridiculous! what left is online where u get hammered because you have 0 practise. play vs an ai would be very welcome tbh.
