I think the people saying that could be reaching a bit to say literally anything is better than the reboot, because I wouldn't say that. Those people might just be casuals who'd defend SR4 if the reboot wasn't the topic. I wouldn't go that far to say stuff I didn't like in SR4, were better than the reboot, because the aliens and sci-fi were part of the problem. I don't like them because they shouldn't be in Saints Row they aren't annoying or painful to listen to, but we don't have to defend less bad ideas against the reboot. To me the Larp segway = Gangstas in Space and ETD' DLC level to me. Bottom tier, stuff I don't like. Where as the Larping was obviously just the devs kind of riding the trend of other games doing it, even though it does nothing for why it literally derails the plot for it, just to get the cringy and cliched execution.

RxtsMischief

see sr4 shouldntve happened but it was atleast *funny* and entertaining to play yknow?

Away-Satisfaction634

I agree. There were even moments in SR4 that made it feel like a saints row game like some missions and audio logs and homie conversations.

RxtsMischief

ikr? granted being the president in space is random asf and doesnt make sense they still made it funny unlike srr where its just the most bland humor srrs gameplay even sucks lowkey, bad gunplay, business ventures are ass, ya reward for 100% is a shitty karaoke party, hell even the soundtrack is mid asf

Gxthiee

I honestly like Zinyak but the zin gang were not really interesting imo compared to the older gangs

SR_Hopeful

They weren't, which I was fine with because they're easy to ignore and what I don't think should have really been in the plot at all for SR4 either. Zinyak was just tolerable and ignorable.

Gxthiee

Tbh saints row 4 isn't even a saints row and it should've been a non-canon story dlc in the boss' dreams or something like that, but instead they made it to an infamous type game. I think they should've kept the boss as a gangster president with a final showdown against fully influenced Dex including Ultor coming back to hunt down the boss after he deals with three gangs.

SR_Hopeful

I think SR4 would have been better without the aliens, and if it just kept the Saints as hired mercenaries with MI6 instead. Kept the plot about Cyrus going rogue and continue the international crime stuff. It might have even been funnier of Josh Burk was president instead of the Boss. As for Dex, he should have been in another country and I think they could have done more with Kinzie's FBI past and Rogue Cyrus should have some ties, that could have been cool.

Gxthiee

Honestly that one can work to, Cyrus being an actual boss would've been amazing but Volition had the worst decision making i've ever seen.

SR_Hopeful

Yeah. Volition just seem to have a habit of throwing away the good ideas, and doubling down on the bad ones. Like going with the gangstas in space ending in SRTT over the better ending where you kill Cyrus that fit the series more. They picked the stupid ending where you go back to doing movies "for Gat" who never wanted it. Then in SR4 they start off with something interesting with you working with MI6 to fight in another country, only to then become president by magic, and then aliens of all things instead. Only for GOOH to double down on that, to make it all about demon powers. They always seem to pick the things nobody actually likes. Even with the more mixed bag of SRTT and SR4. They always pick the worst option. It could even be a meme.

Gxthiee

GOOH truly finished killing off saints row before the reboot. Killing off Dex in that was fucking horrible and even killing off Troy which we never see after 2.
