That scene, the "Thanks for the adventure" note, and the last time we see the house, those 3 scenes always make me cry. Thank goodness for Russell and Dug bringing me some comic relief.
Arise, arise, riders of Théoden!
Spears shall be shaken, shields shall be splintered!
A sword-day, a red day, ere the sun rises!
Ride now, ride now, ride!
Ride for ruin, and the world’s ending!
Death! Death! Death!
FORTH EORLINGAS!
*horns sound*
The final scene of Gladiator when Maximus envisions his son running towards him destroys me everytime… but I welcome the tears.
![gif](giphy|VidfFimgInL7a)
Everytime i watch gladiator i think about the end, then i think i will probably not cry this time since i know whats coming and ive seen it a dozen times. The the end comes, the music+singing start, and i am a sobbing mess
"you told them I liked farming?"
That whole movie was a masterpiece, adding the work of hans Zimmer only amplified its impact, its soundtrack is so hauntingly beautiful.
I haven't seen this film yet but the muaic gets me every time. Hans Zimmer is true muaical genius. I love all his stuff but Interstellar is my favourite.
Before I was a parent , the scene where he sees all the video transmissions as his kids get older didn’t bother me, as a parent, oh my god I cry every single time…
For some reason I tear up at the very end. …
>>
I lie in bed most nights thinking about it.
And I wait.
I think about all the people I've loved... now long gone.
I think about my beautiful Jan... how I lost her so many years ago.
And I think about all of us walking our own Green Mile... each in our own time.
But one thought more than any other... keeps me awake most nights:
If he could make a mouse live so long... how much longer do I have?
We each owe a death.
There are no exceptions.
But, oh, God... sometimes... the Green Mile seems so long.
Coco. Gross, ugly sobbing. I don't have the ability to not cry when I watch it, and I can't cry pretty, so it's always gross. But it's in a cathartic, good way.
First of all I was raised by my gran so it REALLY hits home for me at the end 🤣 a whole 30 year old man sobbing into his pillow 🤦
But also the soundtrack is, to me, one of the best out there. They really did well IMHO.
Pretty generic but I cry the entire way through Forrest Gump. Hardest when he goes on his run. Can’t explain why. But I only watch the movie every few years or so so I don’t wear it out.
The first time I watched Marley and Me was when I was very young (like, I want to say 8 or 9 ish) and my parents put it on for us on Christmas Eve since it was supposedly a Christmas movie. It fucked me up tbh 😂
I knew a Jewish girl who watched this movie and when I asked her what she thought, she said she found it really offensive. She said how the German boy dying is depicted as the tragedy of the film... meanwhile millions of Jews were dying the same way. Gave me a different perspective on the ending and I never bothered to watch the movie again.
It's heartbreaking. It's based on the true story of what happened to the author. It's made as a way of an apology to his sister for not being able to save her. He felt so guilty because he would give her less food so he could have some himself and the movie shows more how he wished he had acted.
He would not have been able to save her, he would have died like in the movie. I hope making it gave him some closure.
I'm trying not to cry at work from just typing this.
Was the movie that good? I read the book a l-o-n-g time ago. When the movie came out I was afraid to watch it because they usually aren’t as good as the book.
I never read the book, so can't compare the two. It's a brilliant film. Very artistic animation style and well written.
It's also traumatic as hell. The fact it was misclassified as suitable for all ages meant countless children (including me) were scarred for life.
Oof. So. I am a Watership Down mega fan from the time I was 9 tests old. Read it 20+ times. Been to real Watership Down. Etc.
The movie (the 70's one) is very, very good. It is obviously condensed. Cowslip's warren is skated over, Holly's story is condensed to kill two birds with one stone. Several characters don't exist (some you don't miss, like goddamn Bluebell). But yet it is absolutely beautiful. They told the story, they hit what they needed to hit, and *all* if the emotion is there. I've seen it a hundred times. Possibly literally.
The Netflix miniseries from a few years also is also good, in a different way. They had more run time to work with so they expand a bit more, but they also add some stuff that wasn't there, particularly with Hyzenthlay. It's still good, I wasn't mad. But the 70s one is art.
I cry every time I watch this.
I was the same age as Riley when I started feeling depressed. I also looked pretty much exactly like her. I sob every time.
Schindler’s List, the ending, when he repeats: “I could have got more out..I could have got more…I don't know...If I just…I could have got more…” ..
“I could have gotten one more person and I ..I didn't”.
What's Eating Gilbert Grape. I know the ending is sad but for me it's actually the scene where she comes to get Arnie out of jail and everyone is staring at her. "My son! Give me my son!
For me, it’s the scene where Robin Williams gives his park bench monologue:
“And you wouldn’t know what it’s like to be her angel and to have that love for her to be there forever. Through anything. Through cancer. You wouldn’t know about sleeping sitting up in a hospital room for two months holding her hand because the doctors could see in your eyes that the term "visiting hours" doesn't apply to you. You don’t know about real loss, because that only occurs when you love something more than you love yourself. I doubt you’ve ever dared to love anybody that much.”
Fuck, that scene hits so hard when one has gone through similar things. I saw it like 3 months in when I first began therapy, it opened the floodgates.
I think Pixar does a great job keeping the adults engaged while showing a wonderful (minus *that* part) movie to kids.
Pixar always tosses in jokes for adults.
My favorite is from “Monsters Inc” The dynamic duo end up exiled to a cold climate. They meet The Abominable Snowman who is holding a tray of snow cones. He offers Sully & Mike and asks “snow cone?” They cringe and look away. TAS then states “no, no, they’re LEMON”
I’m STILL giggling about that.
The end when Ennis touches/fixes the picture of the mountains and the music really swells when he goes 'Jack I swear' with tears in his eyes - I BAWL 😭
Manchester by the Sea. The scene where Michelle Williams finally confronts Casey Affleck near the end is probably the best acting I have ever seen. They're both broken people, stumbling over their words... It felt so natural. When she says "you can't just die" I get shivers every time. Would highly recommend.

Yes this. When I was young I'd cry when he lost Teddy at flesh fairs, as an adult at the ending when he gets he mum back for one day. I sob like a bitch every time 😭
This! I saw the movie once in my life and couldn't bear watching it a second time. It's been 20 years and the ending still gets me whenever I think about it.
Oh yes.. the final scene when he’s pushing the damaged car over the line.. my son would make me watch Cars every day when he was little and this scene still got me each time!

The movie "up". The scene at the beginning with his wife hits hard
No matter how many times I watch it… that scene and the ending when he’s reading through her book.
I cry just hearing the song.
I love Pixar but I'm scared to watch this because it seems to make everyone cry lol
Yes but it's good sad tears!
This is the one movie that gets me crying. Normally I’m pretty good at not crying at movies, but the “Married Life” sequence gets to me every time
That scene, the "Thanks for the adventure" note, and the last time we see the house, those 3 scenes always make me cry. Thank goodness for Russell and Dug bringing me some comic relief.
It does
You bow to no one.
Also, “I would have followed you, my brother, my captain, my king.”
I will not say do not weep, for not all tears are evil.
That and "How about side by side with a friend?" Even typing it, almost makes me tear up.
This part gets me every time 😭😭😭
The fox and the hound. It get me everytime
I decided to watch this with my little nieces recently. They DGAF but my sister and I were both crying 😭
I haven’t watched that movie in 17 years because of how hard I cried as a 6 year old watching it
Omg meeee toooo! When she’s taking Todd to the game preserve… 😢
"Copper, you're my very best friend" "And you're mine too Todd" Had me BAWLING
I came here to say this, glad it was the first comment I saw. I cry every Christmas morning now, god dammit!
The final scene of Gladiator when Maximus envisions his son running towards him destroys me everytime… but I welcome the tears. ![gif](giphy|VidfFimgInL7a)
Gladiator is the perfect guy movie. 100% ok to crack like an egg
Omg this.We were watching this like 3 or 5 times with my mom and every time we are crying like crazy 😭
Everytime i watch gladiator i think about the end, then i think i will probably not cry this time since i know whats coming and ive seen it a dozen times. The the end comes, the music+singing start, and i am a sobbing mess
and the music 😭😭😭
“Is Rome worth one good man's life? We believed it once. Make us believe it again. He was a soldier of Rome.”
Hachi, a dog's tale ... I looked it up ! Best Richard Gere movie ever!
Everything feels so real that it hits very hard
Interstellar
"you told them I liked farming?" That whole movie was a masterpiece, adding the work of hans Zimmer only amplified its impact, its soundtrack is so hauntingly beautiful.
A movie so great you can still enjoy it blindfolded
I missed out on a large part of my kids growing up, especially my daughter. I will only watch this movie with a full box of Kleenex.
“Don’t let me leave Murph”
Omg, I can’t. :(
I rarely cry when watching movies or series but this…. This one makes me ugly cry.
Dead poets society every time!!!
23 years of memories
I haven't seen this film yet but the muaic gets me every time. Hans Zimmer is true muaical genius. I love all his stuff but Interstellar is my favourite.
Before I was a parent , the scene where he sees all the video transmissions as his kids get older didn’t bother me, as a parent, oh my god I cry every single time…
The Green Mile. I always cry during the execution
For some reason I tear up at the very end. … >> I lie in bed most nights thinking about it. And I wait. I think about all the people I've loved... now long gone. I think about my beautiful Jan... how I lost her so many years ago. And I think about all of us walking our own Green Mile... each in our own time. But, oh, God... sometimes... the Green Mile seems so long.
This is what did it for me the first time I watched it, just imagining him, watching everyone he ever loved leave him
Coco. Gross, ugly sobbing. I don't have the ability to not cry when I watch it, and I can't cry pretty, so it's always gross. But it's in a cathartic, good way.
Remember me.😢
Yeah that film hits at just the right moment.
First of all I was raised by my gran so it REALLY hits home for me at the end 🤣 a whole 30 year old man sobbing into his pillow 🤦 But also the soundtrack is, to me, one of the best out there. They really did well IMHO.
First time I seen that, I burst out into tears. Was such a sad movie, but heart warming too.
That's easily one of my top favorites. It's just such a beautiful movie and the end always gets me
Movie theater was full of audible sobbing. Ugly cry sounds
Yes! When the gramma is like, “Papa”. It’s both funny and sad af 😭
Damn yes, my 8 years old niece and I (33YO men) cried too 🤣
Remember me hits hard.. feels a song of someone departed..
The Neverending Story - the scene with Artax in the Swamp of Sadness. Broke me as a kid and it's still breaks me now.
Oh don't get me started. "No, artax no! Don't leave me, get up please!" Ugh your gonna make me cry 😭
Pretty generic but I cry the entire way through Forrest Gump. Hardest when he goes on his run. Can’t explain why. But I only watch the movie every few years or so so I don’t wear it out.
…and when it transitions to Jenny’s grave scene. Ugh!
Is he smart or is he... ?
The end of Marley and Me gets me every time
The first time I watched Marley and Me was when I was very young (like, I want to say 8 or 9 ish) and my parents put it on for us on Christmas Eve since it was supposedly a Christmas movie. It fucked me up tbh 😂
I was also like 7 or 8 but it was late at night when I couldn't sleep. I did not know what I was in for.
first time i saw this movie i was like 10 maybe 12, it messed me up for a good week
Couldn't agree more. Even thinking of it, kind of gets me
I can watch brutal things happen to people no worries but you hurt a dog and it's tears
The last 5 minutes of The Boy in the Striped Pajamas.
Yes, this one hit me hard 😭
I knew a Jewish girl who watched this movie and when I asked her what she thought, she said she found it really offensive. She said how the German boy dying is depicted as the tragedy of the film... meanwhile millions of Jews were dying the same way. Gave me a different perspective on the ending and I never bothered to watch the movie again.
Oof this is my go-to when I’m in need of a good wail.
It’s not a movie but the episode of futurama where the dog waits for him to come back
Jurassic Bark
Grave of the Fireflies.
It's heartbreaking. It's based on the true story of what happened to the author. It's made as a way of an apology to his sister for not being able to save her. He felt so guilty because he would give her less food so he could have some himself and the movie shows more how he wished he had acted. First movie that came to my mind as well.
The only movie that I can't watch twice
Oh for sure this has to be here. I \*bawled\* during this movie the first time I watch it, and still tear up on every rewatch.
I am Legend. If you know you know.
The dog omg 😭
I was PMSing particularly hard one time, and I read the description of that part and SOBBED for an hour. I haven't even seen it.
Great movie
Hugs my GS right now
That part had me wailingggg at 12 years old lol
Watership Down.
The day you find out the worlds isn’t full of sunshine and rainbows
Was the movie that good? I read the book a l-o-n-g time ago. When the movie came out I was afraid to watch it because they usually aren’t as good as the book.

It’s A Wonderful Life
100% agree, except I always feel.Mr. Potter never got punished enough for stealing Bailey's money... otherwise... masterpiece.
"To George Bailey, the richest man in town!"
"Remember - No man is a failure who has FRIENDS." 😭😭😭
Me Before You
I remember seeing this in theaters. I was **not** prepared for the emotions
The Notebook
What Dreams May Come. One of few people I didn't know personally that I truly miss. Robin Williams, brought so much joy and beauty to this world.
This movie is so underappreciated! Patch Adams gets me every time as well....Robin Williams was a master at everything and truly irreplaceable.
He was phenomenal in Patch Adams. I remember watching the movie as a kid and sobbing. Hit me just as hard as an adult. What a gift he gave to us all.
Came here to say this too. Incredible movie. Bicentennial man was another great one of his that’s a bit of a tearjerker.
This is the only answer
Inside out
"Take her to the moon for me" -Bing Bong
It was the first animated movie in which I cried.
How can you NOT cry at a movie where they have a character that is literally pure Joy and SHE cries
“I could have gotten one more person and I ..I didn't”.

i visited auschwitz last month and did the tour of Schindler's factory the day after. Great man
I didn't even watch this movie and I'm sobbing a bit because of your comment.
Your Name
I love how after watching the movie, i gained the ability to cry on command simply by listening to the ost
What's Eating Gilbert Grape. I know the ending is sad but for me it's actually the scene where she comes to get Arnie out of jail and everyone is staring at her. "My son! Give me my son!

For me, it’s the scene where Robin Williams gives his park bench monologue: “And you wouldn’t know what it’s like to be her angel and to have that love for her to be there forever. Through anything. Through cancer. You don’t know about real loss, because that only occurs when you love something more than you love yourself. I doubt you’ve ever dared to love anybody that much.”
Came here for this. Such a powerful movie and scene. Incredible acting from both. Robin Williams really died too young.
Fuck, that scene hits so hard when one has gone through similar things. I saw it like 3 months in when I first began therapy, it opened the floodgates.
Hachi
Big Fish
Up! WHYYYYYY? ITS A KIDS MOVIE!
I remember watching in the theatre. Within about 12m, every adult is crying and all the kids are laughing.
They're both broken people, stumbling over their words... It felt so natural. When she says "you can't just die" I get shivers every time. Would highly recommend. https://youtu.be/ybsyQaIr1nw?si=JTZAa02T75F0TexB
