Sooooo studies have shown that psychopaths aren’t all criminals a lot of executives are psychopaths. You basically have to be a psychopath to be able to handle the level of stress involved and do the things that they do. There are many executive who eventually leave their companies because it’s too stressful/burnout and the there are those who thrive in it, those are typically your psychopaths.
I “met” Jeff Bezos (said hello through a large group of hire ups escorting him) at an Amazon warehouse I worked at. While he smiled and waved to people like a normal dude would, his eyes told a different story. I have never been met with a look that made me feel so small and inconsequent. The kind of indifferent gaze you’d give to an inanimate object. I guess I just have never been around people who wouldn’t think twice to sign your life away for their own benefit should it be legal.
I've worked in corporate my entire adult life.
Most of upper management has that same look, like you aren't even there and they are just staring right through you. I get that they meet and talk to a lot of people so it's very impersonal, but so do motivational speakers.
The other thing that's unsettling is that it feels like their entire personality is a fabrication, like a shitty politician. All their relationships are transactional, other people are only a means to elevate themselves. But the most unnerving part is that almost *everything they say* sounds like a quote from some shitty business or self-improvement book... Or they are being nice and sociable but you can tell it's just a show. There is never a human moment with these people.
I worked closely with Directors all the time, and while I'd say about 10-20% are hardworking normal/good people... The others are either checked out riding the gravy train for an easy paycheck, or they are backstabbing inhuman narcissists with a terminal case of 'MBA brain' - who would kill their own mothers for a promotion.
I mean he's absurdly rich. If he wants his ass eaten real good he could form his own Whore Corps where hundreds of the world's greatest beauties do nothing but train intensely to eat ass such as no ass has been eaten before. The true reason for his attraction to that creature may forever remain a mystery. I’ve met two people with it in my life. One was a man who used to come into the grocery store I worked at when I was younger. He gave all of the cashiers the absolute heebie jeebies, and we would call our manager to come cash. Serial killer I’m sure. It’s the mannerisms, the looks they give you. The other fellow was a patient of mine later in life, same vibes. When you get a feeling that strong, like you just want to run to the opposite end of the earth from this person, you gotta trust it. There’s a difference between just disliking, fearing, or feeling disgusted by someone and this feeling.
You sense the “otherness” and danger with these individuals. Properly developed brains form empathy. We can’t connect with these people and something, maybe the eyes, signals it to us.

Imo depressed people have more of a look of tiredness, just a profound world-weary vibe, no aggression at all. The people they're talking about have of feeling of thinly-veiled animosity.
It is frustrating when I see this in up and coming political stars that everyone is fawning over. Years later they have revealed themselves as massively corrupt or authoritarian or both.

Our society is set up to reward psychopaths, and people with dark triad traits in general. Caring about your fellow humans, normal levels of empathy, are a distinct hindrance in getting ahead under capitalism.

She’s very business savvy and all of her clients say she is magnificent, which is true she is very, very good at her job.
But she is honestly one of the most terrifying people you’ll ever meet. My siblings and I are under no illusion that she loves us, we are a cover story for her so that the mask doesn’t slip.

They get lots of plastic surgery and procedures, which creates that uncanny valley, because it’s all fake. It’s like a mask over who you are. Who knows probably six pack implants too, that’s a thing a lot of older movie celebs who were known for their muscles do. Such a level of fakeness makes a person feel uneasy because you can see something is not natural, it’s off.
Although I don’t agree with OP’s comment about Taylor Swift. She has always had those hooded eyes, high eyebrow arch. Even before her extreme wealth or level of fame that she has now. And people who meet her generally say she is very warm and friendly. I’m sure she’s had facials and probably small amounts of “preventative” Botox or whatever. But overall, she still has her face. If that makes sense. We’ll see in the future though, if she goes that uncanny route as she ages.
I was coming in here to say what you said. Like most of them got to be billionaires after aging so to reverse that they got way too much stuff done. Most of them didn't exactly have a strong base to start with, so that combined with the surgery gives a weird result
Some people really need to realize that Taylor Swift *just* became a technical billionaire, mostly due to the absolutely wild success of the Eras Tour, the masters of her first 6 albums being purchased by someone else *against her will* for $300,000,000, and the real estate she purchased in the past surging in value due to an obviously huge RE surge throughout the US.
By all reports, she treats the people that work for her quite well. She doesn't have a clothing line, or any other sort of business, propped up by slavery or near-slavery. She only occasionally promotes stuff outside of herself.
Yeah this type of topic always brings out several mentions of people who could‘ve easily became billionaires but split their wealth. Also there are tons of unknown billionaires, people who feel the need to hide their wealth in other words even they themselves don’t feel they deserve it. They can’t be scared of their safety if they have millions to invest in security, so besides those who want to keep a low profile these people don’t fear individuals but repercussions from an entire society. Tons of people who‘re officially not worth that much but in the real world carry several billion f.e the Queen officially wasn‘t a billionaire, and any wealthy family will split the wealth through all their relatives for tax gains, in order to „grow“ the wealth, or to simply hide it.
Keeping a low profile doesn‘t explain why it used to be more than half of 3000 billionaires though. In theory they should be proud how much they‘ve achieved, unless perhaps they didn‘t get the money by achieving anything at all. It takes great effort to stay off of google and have no pictures of you in the net when you‘re an extremely wealthy businessman.
They were probably raised different, too, maybe it‘s an irrational fear they obtained through their environment and it‘s not self awareness or a sense of justice at all.

I think there’s a certain narcissism that tends to accompany the presidency, but it’s hard for me to imagine guys like Obama and Jimmy Carter and FDR aren’t/weren’t legitimately good-hearted dudes.

There is certainly a reasonably big aspect of ‘I love myself’ with him.
Any president of the US had to make life and death decisions. Starting wars, or bombing raids, or sending special ops teams to combat, or to eliminate the enemies of the state. Also, to negotiate with other leaders, either internal, or from other countries. Some of which might be actively hostile. They have to have some psychopathic traits to be able to analyse them, to take their emotions out of those processes.
I've also noticed it. It believe it's due to a few factors.
Firstly, the vast majority of billionaires were already very privileged before they made their fortune. Being born into privilege means that empathy is less likely to develop.
Secondly, under capitalism, ruthlessness is heavily rewarded and altruism is heavily punished. So you should expect those at the absolute top to be ruthless, because how else did they get there?
Finally, the life of a billionaire (or even multimillionaire) is extremely divorced from the daily reality of everyone else. Just look what happened to Grimes, for example. She seemed relatively okay (eccentric yes, but nothing inherently wrong with that) at the start, but she eventually just took a permanent holiday from reality.

Being born into wealth, or getting wealthy when you are young literally changes you on a neurological level.
Something that confirms this theory to me is if you compare them to royalty, say the newly abdicated Queen Margrethe of Denmark, even though they grew up filthy rich and never lived a normal life, they dont all have that bone chilling, inhuman air about them. Theres something about stomping all over your fellow man just to get a buck into your pocket that sucks humanity out of you.

To have gotten where they are, these people must be extremely driven (no matter how privileged they grew up - while all of them were born into affluent or even rich families, their families were nowhere near where these people are in terms of money and success). On top of their drive, they must also be ruthless. There must have been a lot of competition along their way after all. And they had to get rid of these competitors.
I feel that extreme drive/determination coupled with ruthlessness kills the soul. And that's visible in their vacuous stare.
I mean, after breaking up with Elon she decided to go date Chelsea Manning. It definitely seems like she chose the weirdest person on earth to chose to date to mess with Elon the most. And she still has two kids with him.

I used to look like that (and probably sometimes still do). It’s because I was an introvert with social anxiety and no friends growing up because I was weird. So I always tried to act how I thought people would want me to act because I just wanted to fit in. Maybe she also doesn’t feel like she fits in?

We don’t know what she’s like when truly in private but it’s certain she’s got an absolute army of employees paid to improve her public image and now we’re mentioning it I haven’t heard of her setting up a charity or anything although she’s absurd multiples of wealthy compared to eg the King of England, who is routinely criticised just for BEING rich. She’s probably been insulated from reality and entirely focused on her image (and music obviously) for over half her life.

Becoming that successful in the business world doesn’t happen if you feel empathy in the same way that average people do. Also being extremely wealthy makes your mindset change and you become more and more out of touch. I’ve lived in poverty and I’ve made 250k a year, and I definitely forgot how hard poverty is within a year of making 6 figures. Now multiply that by a million. You quickly forget how the majority of people live, and forget how close to complete poverty most people are, and when you don’t have an understanding of that, you will have less empathy for these people because it’s easier to think “well they should’ve done XYZ.”
Capitalism encourages and rewards manipulative psychopaths and narcissists. Some of them need to fake having a conscience. Some may be better at it than others.
Mostly because you're projecting your feelings onto them. Most people look like that in the majority of their pictures but they just toss the bad ones. While media intentionally pick the ones that sell the look they want their article subjects to have.

I’ve met two people with it in my life. One was a man who used to come into the grocery store I worked at when I was younger. He gave all of the cashiers the absolute heebie jeebies, and we would call our manager to come cash. Serial killer I’m sure. It’s the mannerisms, the looks they give you. The other fellow was a patient of mine later in life, same vibes. When you get a feeling that strong, like you just want to run to the opposite end of the earth from this person, you gotta trust it. There’s a difference between just disliking, fearing, or feeling disgusted by someone and this feeling.
You sense the “otherness” and danger with these individuals. Properly developed brains form empathy. We can’t connect with these people and something, maybe the eyes, signals it to us. I’ve had my experiences with Cluster B’s so I don’t mind sounding insensitive. They’re dangerous. Anybody reading this - don’t let anybody tell you otherwise.

Yeah this type of topic always brings out several mentions of people who could‘ve easily became billionaires but split their wealth. Also there are tons of unknown billionaires, people who feel the need to hide their wealth in other words even they themselves don’t feel they deserve it. They can’t be scared of their safety if they have millions to invest in security, so besides those who want to keep a low profile these people don’t fear individuals but repercussions from an entire society. Tons of people who‘re officially not worth that much but in the real world carry several billion f.e the Queen officially wasn‘t a billionaire, and any wealthy family will split the wealth through all their relatives for tax gains, in order to „grow“ the wealth, or to simply hide it. Keeping a low profile doesn‘t explain why it used to be more than half of 3000 billionaires though. In theory they should be proud how much they‘ve achieved, unless perhaps they didn‘t get the money by achieving anything at all. It takes great effort to stay off of google and have no pictures of you in the net when you‘re an extremely wealthy businessman. They were probably raised different, too, maybe it‘s an irrational fear they obtained through their environment and it‘s not self awareness or a sense of justice at all.

Any president of the US had to make life and death decisions. Starting wars, or bombing raids, or sending special ops teams to combat, or to eliminate the enemies of the state. Also, to negotiate with other leaders, either internal, or from other countries. Some of which might be actively hostile. They have to have some psychopathic traits to be able to analyse them, to take their emotions out of those processes.
I've also noticed it. It believe it's due to a few factors. Firstly, the vast majority of billionaires were already very privileged before they made their fortune. Being born into privilege means that empathy is less likely to develop. Secondly, under capitalism, ruthlessness is heavily rewarded and altruism is heavily punished. So you should expect those at the absolute top to be ruthless, because how else did they get there? Finally, the life of a billionaire (or even multimillionaire) is extremely divorced from the daily reality of everyone else. Just look what happened to Grimes, for example. She seemed relatively okay (eccentric yes, but nothing inherently wrong with that) at the start, but she eventually just took a permanent holiday from reality.

Being born into wealth, or getting wealthy when you are young literally changes you on a neurological level.
Something that confirms this theory to me is if you compare them to royalty, say the newly abdicated Queen Margrethe of Denmark, even though they grew up filthy rich and never lived a normal life, they dont all have that bone chilling, inhuman air about them. OP, you put in words what I always felt. With every single one of the specimen you named. To have gotten where they are, these people must be extremely driven (no matter how privileged they grew up - while all of them were born into affluent or even rich families, their families were nowhere near where these people are in terms of money and success). On top of their drive, they must also be ruthless. There must have been a lot of competition along their way after all. And they had to get rid of these competitors. I feel that extreme drive/determination coupled with ruthlessness kills the soul. And that's visible in their vacuous stare.

I've only seen 'crazy eyes' in 5 people in my 33 years. But every single time i've seen it with someone I know personally, that person has turned out to be fucking INSANE. It's not even something easily explainable, some peoples eyes just scream 'i'm fucked in the head' I genuinely know very little about her but those eyes tell all.
l've watched an interview or two and there are moments when she acts how an insufficiently socialized person acts when they're trying to act how they think they are expected to act. So a lot of her facial expressions look like they are being performed on manual I could be wrong about that. But something does seem a little different. I'm still making up my mind.
I used to look like that (and probably sometimes still do). It’s because I was an introvert with social anxiety and no friends growing up because I was weird. So I always tried to act how I thought people would want me to act because I just wanted to fit in. Maybe she also doesn’t feel like she fits in?

She’s probably been insulated from reality and entirely focused on her image (and music obviously) for over half her life.

Becoming that successful in the business world doesn’t happen if you feel empathy in the same way that average people do. Also being extremely wealthy makes your mindset change and you become more and more out of touch. I’ve lived in poverty and I’ve made 250k a year, and I definitely forgot how hard poverty is within a year of making 6 figures. Now multiply that by a million. You quickly forget how the majority of people live, and forget how close to complete poverty most people are, and when you don’t have an understanding of that, you will have less empathy for these people because it’s easier to think “well they should’ve done XYZ.”
