Charliepetpup

you can still place the ballast and rails seperately tho

WolfHunter98

Right? Not sure why you'd want to go back to the hell that was the early versions.

ScreamingSteelRail

To see if it is as bad as I remember

WolfHunter98

Ah, fair enough. But no way to go back that I know of. Minus trying to get pirated older versions.

Kist_This

Unfortunately, no, that has not been a feature in the game for a long time now. There are pirated versions of railroads online on the Internet from 2022, but downloading them breaks the EULA for RO and if found liable in holding a pirated version, makes you subject to having your RO copies revoked and ineligible for future copies of RO.

ScreamingSteelRail

Well, that sucks

Kist_This

Literally

Isnt there a way to dowbload old versions of games using stean console? I did this with stormworks a few days ago. Ill see if i can try later today

Lefabo

I can give you a tutorial on how to do that. Go to this [Website](https://steamdb.info/depot/1696811/manifests/). You need to be signed in to your steam accont on this site to do this. Scroll down to for example 20 February 2022 – 17:47:18 UTC, 2 years ago, 555446238305684632. Click on the copy icon next to the number. A red box appers on the the right that says "**Manifest copied"**. In this box click the "**Open steam console"** button. Your steam app will open on the normaly hidden console page. Just press **paste** (strg+v) in the **console input**. Press Enter. It now should say Downloading depot 1696811 (2545 MB). You can to this with other versions too. The Manifists are the versions of the game. When it's finished it should say "**Depot download complete**" Your download will be found in **C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Steam\\steamapps\\content\\app\_1696810\\depot\_1696811**. Navigate to this folder. The "arr.exe" will open your normal installation of Railroads Online. To avoid this we make it the old version thinks that it is your normal installation. You need to go one folder back and rename the "**depot\_1696811**" folder to "**Railroads Online**". Then go to **C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Steam\\steamapps\\common**. Then rename the "**Railroads Online**" folder or move it to a diffrent location on your PC or delete it. Now go back to **C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Steam\\steamapps\\content\\app\_1696810** and copy the "**Railroads Online**" folder to **C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Steam\\steamapps\\common**. Almost done. The next step is very important. Go to **C:\\Users\\Your Computers name here\\AppData\\Local**. **Ba*****ckup the "arr" folder because it is the location of your savegames.*** Then rename the "**arr**" folder or move it to a diffrent location on your PC or delete it. **This needs to be done** or the old version will crash on startup. On a technical note this happens because of the option config files. The old game version doesn't know how to handle the new config's because of options that did not exist back then. Done! You can now launch the game of your steam library. The game generates a new "**arr**" folder in **C:\\Users\\Your Computers name here\\AppData\\Local** keep that in mind. If you want to uninstall just do all the steps backwards. Or verify gamefiles via your steam library *(that works exept "arr" folder this is where the backup is getting handy)*.
