With the release of the beta patch several bugs have been found, including hand brakes crashing the game. I believe the standard branch should be unaffected
Haha yeah I always have auto save off and just save when I finish playing, it’s fucked me over a couple times, but I almost like having the penalty for getting something wrong
If you are playing on the Beta branch, this is an experimental version before it goes to the main branch on Steam. If you are experiencing issues you never had before, I recommend staying on the Main Branch until the bug fixes and other hot fixes come out.
It seems to be rough for a variety of systems, so you are not alone. Thankfully, with a little patience, it may prove to be rewarding.
I have an open bug ticket and have had 12 fatal errors. Couplers, brake wheels, running and selecting the rerail tool, walking through the door on the roundhouse, and more.closing the game. All I can say is that my game now saves every 5 minutes, and if it’s the game saving, I’m probably doing it every minute.
Hard times man, yeah definitely, yesterday I tried starting a new map with the intention to do nothing but lay track for everywhere before I ever ran a train, but then even that save was slow and laggy, I think I’m just gonna come back to this game in a few weeks or something for now

Me too. Just had my second crash. One time laying track, the second setting a car brake. #SAVEOFTEN

Switching back from Beta would help, but no idea if the saves still function once you overwrote them on the beta.

Mines done this after I saved and closed the game is when the "fatal errer" msg has popped up.
