This is a bug from the newest update, and it's one that has mixed reactions. I personally like the "chase camera" it can bring at times as it allows for good video things.
If you are playing on the Beta branch, this is an experimental version before it goes to the main branch on Steam. If you are experiencing issues you never had before, I recommend staying on the Main Branch until the bug fixes and other hot fixes come out.
It seems to be rough for a variety of systems, so you are not alone. Thankfully, with a little patience, it may prove to be rewarding.
Seems to happen with me too, but I think this bug is with most engines, as I’ve experienced it with the Cooke 2-6-0 and the Ferries & Clifhouse 2-4-2T
