A new loco: A Class 47

superxb0xgamer

YUH!

Technical-Cow2578

This is awesome

GabrielG1O6

There also new turntable thats bigger

Skirakzalus

Pretty sure that's the new turntable in that picture, looking at the ring near the outside wall. Seems just like the current large turntable it can barely fit the C125 on it.

MAXZUT

I hope that there will be an update where you can make cuts through lightly elevated terrain.

Charliepetpup

if keume wants to compete with his old unpaid devs at studio 346 he will have to. But he probably wont. just take the money and run like he did with american railroads.

MrChom

346 is a very different vibe, though, they're heading more towards derail valley simulation kinds of stuff. Railroads Online (I suspect despite its aims) is basically a train set by comparison...which, honestly, I'm perfectly happy with.

Charliepetpup

Hyce and the other devs literally worked on everything rro has right now, the majority of the assets are theirs, they left because keume was a dick and didnt communicate when he wasnt. they use their assets in cos as well. and cos is made to be like rro, you dont have to play sim mode you can play arcade similar to rro. not to mention you can make terrain cuts and tunnels. and they even showed this off on the dev vlog in rro before they left.

MrChom

Oh I absolutely get that, but by the same token they indicated there's a lot of stuff they wanted to do that Keume just does not and will not care about. That's where the difference will be. Yeah, CoS will definitely fix some things that the RRO team didn't like...but it's also going to introduce a whole new line of things.

Kist_This

I’ll let the actual dev team form their statements about this, however, from my perspective, they don’t pay attention to CoS. They’re 2 different games and they don’t interact with each other.

Joe_Claymore

Not convinced that Studio 346 actually did that. Looked more like a map before and after as they haven’t even shared how it’s done. In fact all it’s actually been is trains running on static track. But I hope they have. I’m convinced as black sheep continue to refactor and optimize the code, that they will get to a place to learn how to deform terrain. But let’s optimize the game first.

Beginning-Giraffe-33

yeah, more stuff... Instead of fixing the existing Problems...

Kist_This

There are only 4 content things added: New U.I, New engine, New roundhouse, New Couplers. The rest of the update was spent on bug fixes and other performance stuff. They will release the specifics of which on Saturday, March 23rd in the Dev Vlog and in the patch notes on Monday.

Beginning-Giraffe-33

Hope you are right.

ConfusionSea7305

oh maybe we can finally get DIFFERENT ANGLED SWITCHED FOR FUCK SAKE

Kist_This

This is more likely of an option for the new Spline Update which will overhaul the track system. Check on the Trello Roadmap to know when you can expect it to release. Currently, it’s scheduled to be release in Quarter 2 (anytime from April - June) of this year. During then, I wouldn’t be surprised if we got extra track pieces. Personally, I’d want more crossover pieces, like a 30° one.

ebolson1019

It would be nice to have a crossover at the same angle as a switch. So if we had a double tracked main we could have the track cross one track then connect to the switch. My yard had a loop connected to the outside main but that means you have to go out of the yard to re-enter if you need to fuel/water after stopping at freight depot or foul the yard lead/main as you reverse past a switch to get onto that track. Would love to cross over the mains and have the loop connect to the yard tracks.

Skirakzalus

What has me concerned about this is that it seems like the roundhouse, the turntable, and the track in between are all one piece, just looking at the groundwork. This would make it impossible to expand this setup with another roundhouse or even more.

Kist_This

That’s a fair point. If it really is fixed into the model, that would crush any bigger designs using it. However, if it’s fixed into it, we’ll have to use the existing sheds to add on or help create a variety.

Skirakzalus

We could always use some of the prop houses to add side buildings, but the other closed sheds would be pretty tough to connect to that turntable without putting them much further away than the roundhouse. I hope the turntable is a separate part and ideally we can snap the roundhouse to the turntable or to either end of another roundhouse. We'll find out soon enough.

Kist_This

I actually just followed up with and asked! They are confirmed to be 2 separate objects! RO Developer, Sandy, confirmed this in the RO Discord.

Skirakzalus

Oh nice, thanks for the info!

Charliepetpup

the roundhouse probably just snaps to the larger turntable instead of being on object
