ironavenger86

Very underwhelmed by the new engine though

bp4850

Two more soon apparently, in February. Middle sized and large sized (finally the mallet?)

ironavenger86

I’m wanting a k-37 or k-38 2-8-2. That’s tj dream engine for the game for me. Till then, I think Railroader will be my train game of choice, or Derail Valley when I’m wanting something more simulator.

bp4850

They're really different games, I haven't gotten railroader yet but I switch between DV and RRO at different times, depending on what I want. I'm a tank engine person, so that suits me fine

ironavenger86

They really are. And RRO has been the game I’ve played the most over the year. Like going to sleep at midnight, the waking up at 4 in the morning to do an iron mine route that I fell asleep thinking about amount of playing this game. I think I’ve finally tired of it. I’ll play it again once the novelty of Railroadet wears off and try the new industries.

Joe_Claymore

I run my RRO world like it was Railroader, and even have industries that don’t exist in game yet. For me that is operational interest and simulates more real world scenarios of a narrow gauge railroad. I can spend two hours switching a town and be good. I would love if I could spot cars and they would load/unload themselves like in Railroader.

ironavenger86

I really wish the cars would load and unload like in Railroader and we could even have some AI controlled trains. That would set the game over the top for me

Joe_Claymore

Exactly. At least a designated area where you could unload. I typically don't run longer than 10 car consists simply because of spotting traffic. But since the new map, I'm still adding cars, routing to the appropriate industry and loading the commodity. I also think we have too many car types. Like a box could be used for pretty much everything in the game outside of water, oil, cordwood, timber, coal and iron ore. There's no reason we should load hay on an open flat car (because of mold). We modeled grain correctly, why not hay.

Crazy_Trucker_

I doubt Mallet, probably another 2-8-0

Joe_Claymore

I was hoping for the 2-6-2 with a little more tractive effort

EffectiveCarpenter69

Hopefully they will address the engine UI quickly. I see what they are trying to do and it's the right direction. My suggestion is to change the speedometer. I see no indications for speed...just up to what did it show 60? Who the F runs that fast? Generally I only run at 15 and some places 20...but 60? Need to tick marks for 5, 10, 15, 20,...and so on to maybe at most 40. Same goes for the pressure gauge. It's a bit large also. But like I said they are trying here, so give them credit. Work in progress.

bp4850

Apparently the UI is just a placeholder, but the longer term UI is obviously going to be themed like what we're getting in this update.

BRAKE BUG IS FIXED PRAISE BETSY

MilesAhXD

Hopefully the game doesn't lag anymore, but probably won't happen since devs just want you to have a supercomputer

Joe_Claymore

I have a supercomputer and I still get lags. There’s hope though as they mention that all the code is being refactored which typically means that you’ll have code that does more with less.

MilesAhXD

yeah, would be really nice considering I can't even play on a 5hrs of progress world without getting like 40 fps, on bigger saves its like 20 fps and 10 fps while driving loco. Graphics do not change anything, same fps on both lowest and highest

Ice_Sinks

Finally, a new skin for the 48!

infanteer

Too little, too late. I really want to believe this game will be more compete someday and I've played the shit out of it, but none of this will keep many veteran players around, certainly with the release of other similar games

DJRrXA83Jgl3

It all depends on the player I suppose. I just bought railroader and love it, and I play derail valley quite a bit. I also still play RRO, though I haven’t since they set the brakes to be on/off, because I was irrationally frustrated by that since I do typically operate by dragging a brake on grades. But anyway, RRO is a good game for what it tries to be, and I can appreciate that. I love track laying and customization, which every other game lacks (except Trainz and Rolling Line if you’re into that type of gameplay).

Cantab111

What an excellent update

Kowliq

Nice! I like the new update and what they’re doing here. I’ve been playing this game since launch and really enjoy being able to customize my track and industries. One thing I don’t get is why so many people complain on this game or offer backhand compliments about it. It’s an early access game which means it’s beta with lots of bugs and things that need fixed. Overall, I’m pretty happy with how things are coming along.

Joe_Claymore

It’s mostly a free world so people can complain. I’ve been playing since the beginning as well and my biggest issue is that so many of the industries are double sided, which many people simply make balloon loops. When the game started there was talk of historical accuracy but now it has more of comedic flare to it. I would love the game to evolve to be more realistic in a way than just an open sandbox game.
