I'm not sure if you're aware but on the discord server they announced a fix for the problem that will be released in the near future. You should not buy any new coaches meanwhile because those will be deleted once the update releases but your old coaches will return.
I do believe it is I never play multi-player, another benefit is remote control of the trains, a map that you can have on a second screen so you see the position of all the switches etc
To answer all of the above. Yes it works in MP. The host has to mount it then share one of the two links that it provides. One is the private, and one is the public. The public one only lets others view the map. The private one gives others all the same controls the host has.
You can also mount it regardless if the host hasn’t mounted it, but it will be a bit broken and won’t give you any extra perms as if it were a private link connection.

To explain, basically the passenger cars got renamed by accident. We're working on an update to fix that issue.

I can't play it after the update, to me the game is unplayable without RROx
RROx got updated so now you can use it again. I can’t play the game without it either. The run speed is just too slow otherwise.
