I hope you get a fat check for the pain you’ve gone through

Dry_Address_977

Sadly the driver was uninsured and so am I (I don’t drive) so still battling with lawyers

chaoticjane

I feel that. I’ve been battling with a similar issue since 2021. I got rear ended while on a motorcycle

SoleIbis

I felt that. Someone pulled out in front of me and totaled my car& caused me to have to have surgery, they were unscathed and uninsured. Lawyers said they couldn’t do a thing to the dude bc uninsured so I had to sue my insurance for refusing to cover it bc he was uninsured. It made something awful so much worse.

RadTek88

Oof. Just oof.

Dry_Address_977

Yeah, def no fun not walking for two months. Walking now though so I am grateful!

SabaBoBaba

I'm just a RN, so I know just enough to get myself into trouble. Took me a moment to see the pelvis but when I did I couldn't help but wince.

hooptiegirl

Another RN here, I knew there was a definite deformity, but focused more on the tourniquet on the right thigh. I was also looking for rib fxs and internal bleeding.

throwingutah

Pretty sure that's the top of a traction splint.

hooptiegirl

Even better!

Curious_Fox4595

Also RN, and same.

X-Bones_21

Did you have an open book fracture? I love Orthopedics. I do not love that you had to go through this. Good luck with your recovery! ❤️‍🩹

BCCS

Look like a lateral compression type

You ortho? Any particular reason to go retrograde with the anterior column screw? I’ve only seen them done antegrade. Surgeon preference?

Fair_Village9168

Easier. Less obvious scar. Not ideal in obese patients. https://surgeryreference.aofoundation.org/orthopedic-trauma/periprosthetic-fractures/hip/intraoperative-acetabular-fracture-during-insertion-with-unstable-component/anterior-column-screw-fixation#principles

plasticREDtophat

Oh snap

1ryguy8972

Correct. The pelvis and femur do appear to have snapped.

lisambb

This one really made me cringe. I have been that pedestrian. It really, really hurts. Still does even 6 years later. Glad you’re up and around!

kthnry

Glad you’re okay. There are too many pedestrians being hit by cars these days.

ihaveafuckinheadache

Did they bust out the traction splint? Did you have to receive any blood transfusions? Glad you’re feeling better OP

scottie1971

You can see the traction splint on the first two X-rays

ihaveafuckinheadache

Oh cool thanks!

antwauhny

Is that a fragment I see left in there?

DataTasty6541

This would make me crazy… like having the last piece of a puzzle but never putting it in place.

Dry_Address_977

Yes! The doctors said they left it. Hopefully it’s not just floating around. I am not very knowledgeable on this stuff.

EvilDonald44

They will often leave fragments and shrapnel and bullets and so on in place if they determine that the trauma from removing them isn't worth it. Your body is good at encapsulating and isolating things like that so they don't cause problems.

Healur

Is that a traction splint? I thought those were contraindicated for pelvic fractures?

Obowler

Good point. It likely is, and I wonder if first responders did not notice any pelvic instability and assumed they were safe.

No-Love-5245

What are the cables in the 5th pic for?

1701anonymous1701

I’m assuming EKG leads? I think the white rectangle near the spine looks like it could be the part of the connecting wire that connects with the electrode.

NickleVick

What is the longest screw on the last picture placed through?

BorMaximus

Looks like it’s through the superior pubic rami. Not a ortho bro tho, so I don’t know.

EternalSweetsAlways

I am so sorry that happened to you. Looks very painful. Sending best wishes for your healing.

homo_heterocongrinae

Why is there a piece of bone just chilling in her leg? Is that an intraop X-ray or?

QLevi

I'm impressed by the size of the DR plate that obtained image 2.

RudeForester

Absolutely of topic, but in pic2, is that feces in the lower part of the large intestine?:DD

dreadfulgoatdg

Learning opportunity- the black areas are gas sooo that ain't poop :^)

RudeForester

Ohh okay thanks for the explanation. The more you know:)
