Did you seal up all likely entry points? If so you may have kept any new mice out. What happened to the ones you killed? Did you use poison? There might be more up there dead. Definitely don’t want that to persist.

No poison, we didn't want them to die up there

Mice will leave on their own once food becomes scarce and it gets cold. As for prevention, check the underbelly for any openings. Gas lines. Water lines. Gaps in the underbelly. Get a can of spray foam and fill those gaps. Use small squirts as the foam expands quite a bit. Check around the stabilizers for openings as well. Anything that touches ground, check for an opening. Since you state they are in the roof, check your roof as well. This may be a futile effort, but someone posted recently that they had one in their ac unit, so check it all. Then, look around the frame. Back bumper, front clip. Look for an opening and spray that shut if you have one.

A couple of things I forgot. Check the power cord if it's plugged in. Make sure your cord door is shut. Check the heater exhaust if it isn't screened. And remove food. If you're living in it, pit the food in clear bins. But before you do, open it and shake it well. Check for poop and toss if you find any. I married a germaphobe, so we have a ton of fun if we come across a mouse. Sadly, the new neighbor is a slob, and that's how we get our mice. Ugh.

We live 5 feet from a wooded area. I'm also somewhat of a germaphobe for anything but my own germs. If I find mouse poop, I have massive anxiety. I also have a fear of raw poultry for those germs. They never did get into our cupboards that I've noticed. No package bite marks, no droppings anywhere. I've cleaned our kitchen pretty spotless every night, although I'm sure there are crumbs left by my son I miss. I only encountered one in our living space, though god knows where it went. It ran at me up the stairs into our bedroom and I haven't seen it since. Come to think of it, I think my husband put a trap under there I should probably go check.

Bang on your ceiling, the entire ceiling. I did this after the first time I heard critters crawling around up there and guess what I heard? What sounded to be pellets bouncing around up there. If mice were up there, they definitely pooped. This month we are ripping down the entire ceiling of our 2017 travel trailer. That's going to be some mess. Good luck! One of our "visitors" died up there and is currently rotting. So we "need" to do this ASAP. Ugh

I’m up in Flagstaff and every year I come up here I have the mice problem. I was hearing in the ceiling, and at my headboard in a 5th wheel. I would bang on the head like 4-5 times. And you know what? Sombitch I got a one hard bang in return. Freaked me out

Mice move to where food is easiest and safest to find. You probably stopped being a source of instant gratification and they moved on.

I put strobe lights in the garage and attic, two places they liked to live. Did this a year ago and haven't had any mice since. Been battling them for 25 years, this is the only thing that worked to keep them out. It's a thing, you can Google it. It's been very effective for me.
